I am booked on a Disney Cruise w/my family for 10/2/04 :Pinkbounc - - - My Mom is very sickly and I think it would give me peace of mind to purchase the trip insurance. I remember reading on this board that you could purchase this insurance elsewhere (other than your travel agent) for cheaper.

Thanx for your help!!!

I went online and did a Google search for cruise insurance and it came up with several plans to choose. I chose TravelEx and paid $132.00 for 4 people. There are several plans so make sure you read them especially the preexisting disease part.

You might also want to try www.insuremytrip.com. You can compare several different plans online and then choose the one that works best for your family. Since your mother has pre-existing medical problems, I believe you need to purchase the insurance within 14 days of paying your deposit in order for them to be covered.

Thank you so much....Originally I was quoted $316 thru dreamsunlimited - I went to Travelex & booked the same coverage for $95! Wow, what a savings! Now I can have peace of mind and use the savings for the drinks of the day!!!!:Pinkbounc

Videoman.... Do you still have the number to TravelEx?

I would like to call them to see if the coverages are the same as Disneys..

I currently have trip ins. through Disney and I think that it's to expensive for the 4 of us we are being charged $310.00

Thanks so much for your help..

:D

you can get to Travelex via www.insuremytrip.com or their own web site. Their phone # is on their web site. The agent I spoke to at Travelex was much more accomadating thatn the one I spoke with at AccessAmerica recently. I was pricing insurance for an upcoming cruise. I also recall AccessAmerica having a family plan (kids free) but I couldn't find it on their regular page. From these boards, the location is www.accessamerica.com/aaa Travelex also has a plan that does not charge for kids. Remember, if you buy the cruise line insurance but don't use the cruise lines air arrangements (and are flying in), & something happens, the cruise line insurance won't help you. I have always had the insurance, but never had to make a claim. That is the true test of how good it is. Anyone else make a claim with Travelex or AccessAmerica?

I purchased my own air through AA. I purchased the trip ins. through Disney. If an emergency occures will Disney help me ALL the way through since I purchased their insurance?

thanks in advance..

The insurance covers trip cancellation, trip interruption, medical and dental coverage, lost/stolen baggage and baggage delay. I am sure it covers more but that is the important stuff :)

Also to consider, most cover emergency medical evacuation, which your health ins. may not cover out of country.

Have used 'isuremytrip' for several vacations and been very please. They are very reasonable and worth every penny!

I went to the web site, insuremytrip.com, and was wondering how we know these companies are reputable and will actually deliver what you pay for. Any one have experience or read about the reliability of these companies or do we just pay them and have faith :earseek:

I would like to know also if anyone has put in a claim with Travelex?

Seems you get more coverage on Travelex for less premium, than the Accessamerica/aaa policy.

No DCL insurance will not cover your flight arrangements since you booked them on your own, but call them just to make sure I am not telling you a story.
Anyone with a claims experience with any of the non DCL companies?

Access America may be more expensive, but i did have to file a claim with them and they were very fast and i got a refund, so i was very happy with them.
My son was quarantined due to a stomach virus, and Access America did refund me $$ under the trip interruption portion of the insurance.
That said, I am cruising again and was checking to see if there are other options. I don't want to pay too much, but i do want a company that doesn't give you a hard time about claims.....If anyone has had a claim experience with another company, i'l love to know...

I got my insurance through Travel Insured. You can get a free quote online at: http://www.travelinsured.com/banners/banner.asp?agentid=46153

They are mentioned by all of the cruise experts/reviews I have seen as being one of the best. They are usually compared to Travel Guard.

You can read about travel insurance on the Cruise Reviews site at:

Interesting read. My TA checked them out and came away happy. I called regarding the Oct issue some are having, and the rep said Travel Insured would reimburse all prepaid costs that won't be refunded (plane and hotel included).

Just my 2 cents.
