For an upcoming trip I need my sister to transfer points from her account to mine. I assume she can do this by just calling Member Services and that I can't just do it for her but what information from me does she need? Is it just my member #?

Thanks!

Amy

your member number and your full name.

also tell her if the MS has problems that need to change the use year.

hmmm not sure what you mean. We both have the same use year and we will be travelling in 2005 with 2005 points. Does that make sense?

Thanks for your help!

Amy

I have a use year 1993 (really June) - but the person I was transfering points to was 2004.

so the computer couldn't find his number.

I would only give your membership number - as I say if they (MS) has a problem finding you - then ask about the use year.

Why would you need to transfer points? Just make the reservations from the two different accounts and link them. I'd only transfer points if you need to get enough together for a single night.

Dean,

We need to transfer them because we are getting a 2BR together for this trip to share. If she doesn't transfer I'd have to borrow from next years points to get the reservation and I don't want to do that.

Thanks!

If I understand you correctly, you don't have to transfer or would only need to transfer a few points. Here's how it would work. You would book "half" the days under your contract and she would book the other "half" under her contract. Then each of you would tell MS the other confirmation number and have them link them together. It's then just like one reservation with as much guarantee not to change rooms as any reservation. The only reason you'd then need to transfer would be if say you needed 20 points for the reservation and each needed to supply 10, but you'd only transfer the 10 points. It is not necessary to have all the points in one account to accomplish your goal.

I do know there are some minor variations on this subject based on DVC's lack of ability to track transfered points but I doubt it applies in your situation and anytime you can avoid transferring, best to do so. Remember you can only transfer in one directly ONCE per use year.

Thanks Dean! That makes sense and I didn't know that but appreciate the help. Guess it'll take me a few years to really have this all figured out.

By being on this board, you'll get it pretty quickly.

What about this scenario? My friend and I are planning a mom's only trip for January 8-11. We will be staying 3 nights and need a total of 27 points for a standard view at BWV. Is there any possible way to make this reservation without transferring points? Awww, heck, we should just add on another night to make it simpler. :rotfl:
