I have a December use year. My friend wants to transfer me some of her points but she has an April use year. Can she transfer me her April15 points now (actually in December since I already transferred once this use year)? Thanks :)

To expand what Bill said, you can do the transfer now as long as your previous action was with 2014 points. If it was with 2015 points, you cannot do this transfer at all unless you own another membership (separate contract with a different UY).

Remember transfer points can't be borrowed so your reservation with those points has to be after April 1st 2015

While it may depend on the MS rep you work with, transfers are supposed to be from/to the same Use Year. You are currently in your December, 2103 Use Year and can make or accept transfers to/from the 2013 Use Year or to/from your 2014 Use Year. MS will usually only allow transfers to/from the current and next Use Year.

On December 1, 2014, you should be able to accept a transfer from another member's 2014 Use Year into your 2014 Use Year and/or from another member's 2015 Use Year into your 2015 Use Year.

I would certainly contact MS to clarify whether they will allow a transfer of someone else's 2015 points into your 2014 Use Year. I'd check that before having your friend make the transfer and also get the name of the DVC rep telling you it can be done - otherwise, you might find that the points are transferred into your 2015 Use Year.

Regardless, as already noted, transferred points from the April, 2015 Use Year could not be used for a reservation prior to April 1, 2015.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for the responses. Talk about confusing. Lol. So I guess I can actually do the transfer now since my last transfer was with my dec13 points. Does this sound like it would work?

Transfer my friends april2014 points before November 30 (since they are April points they need to be banked by the end of November). Once they are transferred I can then bank them. Then I can use them with my dec14 points for my June 2015 reservation. Or do the April points turn into December points? I thought I read that transferred points retain there use year that's why I was thinking if I transfer the april14 points I need to bank them right away. Or can she just transfer me her april15 points and use them with my dec14 points to stay in June of 2015.

Hopefully I made some sense.

Yes, you can accept a transfer of April, 2014 points into your 2014 Use Year and bank those points. As already explained above, transfers are supposed to be from/to the same Use Year (in this case, 2014) and that should work as you outlined above. They should be placed in your 2014 Use Year (which begins on December 1) and if banked, they may be used for a reservation in June, 2015.

I would still suggest asking MS before making the transfer so that you are certain how the transaction will be handled.

Good luck! :)

From my experience is does not matter what year you are in just that the person transferring to you is transferring points form either their current UY or the next one (the one that they can currently borrow from
