Transferring luggage from one resort to another?

We are taking a 4-night trip, and will be staying first at the Polynesian, then moving to the AKL. Since we have our 11-month-old son in tow, we are trying to make this as painless as possible. Does Disney transfer your luggage for you? Is there a special service we can ask for? And how much does it cost? How does it work?

Just call the bell hops or the baggage people and they'll send it to your new hotel. No charge, but tips are appreciated.

Do you need to be there while they transfer your luggage? We will be switching resorts and would like to spend the day in the park, rather than accompanying our luggage. If you aren't there, then how do you tip?

You do not have to be at the other resort when you luggage arrives. They leave the luggage with Bell Services at the 2nd resort. When you get back from your day at the park, you call Bell Services and ask that your luggage be delivered to your room. I tip when the luggage is picked up at the 1st resort and I tip when the luggage is delivered to my room at the 2nd resort.
