I have a just 3 year old who is just potty trained. We'll be in POR in May. Anyone know the rules on the pool with little kids. Will she have to wear swim diapers even though she is trained? Anyone know about the water parks since we plan on visiting there too? Thanks for the help!

As long as she is trained you do not need a swim diaper. If you think there is the remote possibility of an accident then I would still put her in swim diapers. It would be a real pain if they had to close the pool down for a little accident. :)

Ditto. Any accident closes the pool for hours.

Our first trip to Disney in '92, my dd was about to turn 3 also. I kept her in 'swim diapers' "just in case". She was doing fine being potty trained, but I didn't want to 'dare' the chance of an accident, and since she didn't mind, I didn't mind.
Plus it was nice to be able to 'pull them off' instead of laying her down to change the diaper. We even used them if there was a chance of her getting wet on rides, just for the ease of it. And she knew she was a 'big' girl, but just since we were playing in water.....

Hope this helps!

I hope you understand what I am going to say and don't take it the wrong way. I think you should have your child wear a swim diaper. My daughter had a liver transplant while an infant(2 yrs old) and an accident in the pool could cause her great physical distress. She just started using the potty seriously today. I am so excited at the thought of maybe no more DIAPERS!

well, our 4 yr old DD really prefers the safety of a swim dipe. If she has to go and she's in the pool, she has the option of hopping out and heading to the potty, and she knows that, but if she's really in the middle of something, she is still protected. Even big 6 yr olds have trouble when they're in the middle of something. The swim dipe just helps her save face in case she isn't able to hold it.

Maybe she'll skip the swim dipes this summer, but we will continue to give her the option.

Just wondeing if you are talking about peeing in the pool? I wasn't sure if you knew this but swim diapers do not hold pee because they do not hold liquid. They are only made to hold poop. That is why they don't weigh down with water like an ordinary diaper. So if you are allowing your 4 y/o to pee in the swim diaper then she is peeing in the pool. Now if you are talking about poop then I would hope your 4 y/o isn't doing that in the pool, even in a swim diaper. Just curious!
