Trails End changes?

Free Dining isn't available if you stay at the campground, is it?

No, it's not. But people staying at the Cabins and the other resorts, with Free Dining, can use Trail's End as one of their Table Services meals.

It is for staying in the cabins. Trails End is a participating restaurant for anyone that wants to venture over during that time.

Can anyone tell us lately if there has been in a change in breakfast or lunch? :confused3

And the verdict is..... WE LOVED IT!!!! As I said before, I am a picky eater and I thought that everything was good. The only bad part of dinner was the waitress but that is pretty much luck of the draw. I had a little a everything except the vegetables and I liked it all. I hope that the person that posted in AllEars was just there on a bad night. I may have to write to AllEars and give my opinion. I would say that if you are planning on eating there in the near future, go for it!!!!

Glad to see that the Trails End is still getting good reviews ;) It's just like with any restaurant anywhere, some people are going to like it, and some people aren't.

We were there in October of 2007 and enjoyed it. I will say the waiter was very busy and things may have taken a tad bit longe to get to the table but it was obvious he was trying his best which we appreciated.

The food was good, place clean, we had no complaints. It's one of our favorites as it usually is a nice quiet respte from the park noise.

can you bring me down 400 cases of Poland Spring water when you come?
Sorry to go OT here, but what the heck...

We're headed to the Fort for the first two weeks in August (I think we arrive Aug 5 or somewhere thereabouts, and will be onsite for 9 days).

Can't promise 400 cases, but if you are serious and want some, PM me and we can probably work something out :thumbsup2

Is Poland Springs not available in Florida? I learned something interesting at a seminar about a year ago that the original Poland Spring water was highly sought after by sailing crews because its mineral content and other qualities allowed it to be stored for months in the Oak kegs without going bad. Probably had something to do with how they managed to "bottle" it in kegs without cross contamination before they even knew about those things.

Returning to our regularly scheduled topic now....

Hoping that our meals from Trails End are enjoyable. Last time we ate there we really had a good time (great service) and enjoyed the food.

That was mentioned to him...he amended his statement by saying they are going to spend millions at the fort. Sue in Texas (forgot her name here) got him on that.

Hi!!! :wave2: That was me!!! I feel so famous!!! :hippie:

Actually, I was just amazed that I was comment #2 on that discussion. Usually they're way down the page before I get to the comments section.

And Gatordad, let's not be dissing Jim Hill here. I know he's not perfect, but my world is a better place because he posts on the net. I just wish he'd write more often. I get so tired of the Jim Hill bashers on the internet!

I am so glad you posted this!!!! Thank you!

We'll be there in a couple of weeks with my MIL, and I'll be so bummed if the food quality is poor for what you pay for it. I'm not sure the people who manage the restaurants realize how incredibly expensive they are compared with non-Disney restaurants in Orlando and restaurant prices in the places where we guests come from. They should be embarrassed to charge their prices and serve substandard quality food! My inlaws don't eat much, but what they do eat, I want it to be good and I don't want to feel bad about the restaurants I recommended and got reservations for!

And I hope they still have the breakfast pizza. I love that stuff!

...not planning to cook much in Tina's trailer, either...

Well, I called him out on a big one. The rest of his stuff may be spot on, but he was 0/1 at that time with Pete...... I will not make any further comments until I read him again.

They don't have Poland Spring Water in FL. They have syphillis or zephyrhills. Which in my opinion is not at good. I was teasing about the water, but it sure would be nice to get some here in Tampa.

If they put in an Outback, the food will improve and so will the service. Time to renovate the restaurant and put a little effort into crocketts tavern.

forget OUTBACK - Leave Trails End alone popcorn::

YES, please write- we are always happy with the food at Trails end- well except for that buffalo they used to serve :crazy2: just couldn't bring myself to try it.

But I think TE is the best priced restaurant on property and we are always pleased with the food. :yay:

there you have it.... you get what you pay for.... free= free.

Get outta town- we're doing the free dining in Sept for the first time- are you people trying to tell me that because it's free dining- the food is going to hmmmmm be hard to choke down?? :headache:

No worries, the more people don't like it, the less we have to wait in line :) For those of us that don't mind Trails End, it's a win-win situation...lol

Well, I haven't officially eaten there in MANY years. Once many years ago when we stayed in the cabins..which were then called trailers. Which is what they still really are, but with cabin exteriors! When we did..it was cafateria style, and it wasn't anything to write home about. The server was down right nasty and annoyed when we asked her a question. Now, I was hoping that all that had changed, as I've seen some good reviews in the past. We did like Crocketts tavern..but at that time, it offered a WHOLE lot more, and I think it was also much larger than what it appeared to be when we biked through the Fort last May.
I'm with ya on this one...they should put more effort into the tavern, and make it more like a Boulder Creek, or an Outback. I say FW needs a good counter service option like the Roaring Forks at the WL.
The trails end set up, while I know some people like it..seems kind of dated to me.
The restrictions they are putting on the take out, are making it less of a value, than some have said it once was also.

Why should they put more effort into the trails end if the people aren't paying for it a la carte. The servers move slower knowing they get their automatic gratuity. The food isn't as good, because what refund do they have to give you when you really didn't pay for it..... it's those who actually have to reach into their wallets that suffer. That's why I boycott it, I'd rather go to Outback or another sit down restaurant.

You boycott trails end

right colson39? The more that boycott means less of line I have to stand in to get my food, be it beef or pork ribs. :rotfl:

And being serious here, We have met the BEST servers at Trails end- come on guys, does the name Ken ring a bell? {Dear Mickey I hope that's his name} he's the greatest guy who has worked there for years- like what- 20 or so years? He always has a smile on his face and says things like Excellent! All of the time.
There's Josie, Joy, and one more lady I can't remember her name that has worked there many years. Oh and a young man who works the breakfast / lunch time- donelle? All of them chat with us trip after trip. We've talked with Joy for 8 years or more now.

Why is it so easy to complain? Trails End isn't a dump and all the servers aren't Cruella and all the meat doesn't = dog. :rolleyes1

Just for the record I've been eating breakfast/lunch/dinner at Trails end for 11 years and have never walked away unhappy! And we stay in the cabins- much more than the campsites--- just had to add that little footnote before signing off. ;)

oops signed back on to say--- gatordad--- tip is no longer included. So can't use that excuse any longer.

i think that is an excellent idea! i never ever see anyone even in the tavern; it would make an awesome counter service area, grab n go or whatever.

We like the TE because it's close, and it's just a happy place to be! :flower3: The food isn't the absolute BEST on property, but it's pretty good, and there's lots to choose from. I like the pink lemonade too (even if it is from a mix, LOL)

The tip is included if you're a party of 6 or more.
