Wow - has this gone downhill!!

The "buffet" consisted of one station. It had: scrambled eggs, little Jimmy Dean-type sausage patties, thin flavorless bacon, pre-frozen potato cubes, and biscuits/gravy-out-of-a-can. They also had a breakfast pizza, which was mostly crust -- pretty nasty.

The fruit station was just grapes and unripe watermelon cubes. They had pre-boxed type blueberry muffins, and pre-frozen mickey waffles.

They did have a couple types of dry cereal for the kids.

What happened to all the good food they used to offer?? I always loved the corn beef hash! And, they used to offer salads, better fruit, pastries, ham, etc. No more. All of the food was either pre-packaged or heat-n-serve. They don't even need a "chef" there anymore.

We couldn't believe it when we walked in and looked around! There were very few people in the restaurant - but a line outside where they were taking names and giving pagers. I think they were only seating a few people at a time, since there was so little food. They were trying to control the line.

We will definitely NOT be going back - unless we hear that things are better.

The breakfast buffet was pretty bad when we were there last fall but it sounds like it's even worse now. Guess we won't be giving it another shot until we hear it has improved. That's a bummer.

We stopped in for breakfast last week and thought it definitely offered less than before but wouldn't describe it quite like Rhonda.

The cereal bar is the same as I remember, hot and cold except they ran out of oatmeal when I went up. The fruit bar definitely offers less than before, with only 3 types of fruit. The eggs/bacon/sausage/potatoes is about the same as I recall. The waffles and french toast is always a winner with us - I can't believe those little mickey waffes are frozen.

It was pretty busy when we were there, all but one or two of the tables were full and there was a line outside.

Could it be that they are making it less and less attractive as a TS restaurant, so that they could then turn it into a CS? That's just an idea that came to me as I've been reading all the posts about the quality going downhill over the past year, at the same time others clammoring for a counter service restaurant. It would seem that they wouldn't be inclined to build a new building to give FW a CS, but would have to do something else. Now since I have never stayed there (yet ), and haven't been to FW in like 15 yrs, I admittedly don't know a lot of the details, but being addicted to the boards and reading all these posts gets me to thinking.....maybe too much.

In any event, I think we'll skip eating at Trails End when we're there next month. Maybe there'll be a nice place to grab something near that nice new pool...(I can only hope....)

Only did lunch at TE once - and we got there during a "crossover" period where some breakfast items were out too. We enjoyed it, but thought the cost was a bit pricey for the options offered.

We've done dinner at TE several times and have always enjoyed it and found it to be a good value for the price by Disney standards (assuming you're a pretty good eater).

We've done take out a bunch of times too. Love the chicken and the pizza is decent and plentiful for the price. Nachos weren't fabulous - but they also got a little soggy on the GC ride back to our campsite. Wings were tasty.

Still agree that FW is desperately in need of a food court or real CS location!

We usually eat at TE at least once for bf and once for dinner during our trips. My kids love it We were there a couple of months ago and were shocked when we got our dinner bill. IIRC, it was about $90 for our family of 2 adults and 2 young children (inc. tip and 2 beers). Waaaaaaaaaaay too much for TE. The prices used to be good but we won't be back there again.

This was definitely my biggest complaint. Every trip we've made to Disney we've always had breakfast at TE! We even made a special trip when we stayed at All Stars.

I could have let all the other "cut backs" slide but when I saw the corn beef hash was gone, I gave up. For the over $50.00 for my husband, myself, and our two young sons (who eat next to nothing) it's highway robbery. Breakfast at camp, from here on our for us.

Disappointing. We've never eaten there but I guess we won't ever... I'm not interested in paying a high price for just a few things I can make in our camper! And yes I can easily make all that- including the mickey shaped waffles.

I'm wondering if they'll EVER make a CS in FW (even using that same building?) if the TE starts losing business? I mean surely they will lose business- as the food choices decline and the prices are so high- surely less people will eat there- then more food choices taken off the buffet, even less eat there- it's got to be a neverending cycle until they hit a breaking point where either hardly anyone eats there because it's really not worth it or they just don't get enough ppl to eat there to make it worth having it open at all. then what? Would they open and change it to a CS (food court style perhaps?) or just close the doors and have no food options at FW?

I used to always love having dinner at TE our first night, after we set up camp. But, then the ribs didn't taste like they used to. The squash and zuccini didn't have the kick it once did. Last fall we went for breakfast and I was a little taken back that there wasn't more to choose from. Now, at lunch I couldn't believe it!! I could've made a better sandwich at our camp!

We have a buffet here, that puts any Disney buffet to shame... Last time we had lunch at the Trails End it was over $100.00! We could eat twice at home for that! Why are they wrecking things.... guess people pay anyway.

Is it possible for you to turn in suggestions that are actually acted upon? (I retired from the telco, so I know how seriously employee suggestions are taken - NOT)

We've been regular "forter's" since 1974 (several weekend trips/year and usually 2 or 3 week long trips), and we gave up on the breakfast buffet last summer. The price went up, the quality and selection went down. I've sent e-mail's, but it seems it only gets worse.

I do get replies to my e-mail's that sound positive, but I think the "e-center" is instructed to placate people.

Anything the CM's could do would be greatly appreciated!

ETA: We used to LOVE the "Chef's Special" at Roaring Forks at WL. We would make a point to go there every Saturday nite for the open-faced turkey sandwich. That all went away when they remodled R.F. Too bad - cause it was sooooooo yummy!

I firmly believe that Disney does EVEYTHING for a reason, be it good or bad, but ALWAYS to Disneys advantage. Which usaully translate to $$ in one form or another. Many times Disney does things systematically, but I can't figure out why they would RUIN a on property bisiness for ANY reason, it just doesn't make since. Nor does it make since that Disney would let a business continue to ruin itself.

This is so sad. TE was one of the things we always looked forward to each trip. Always went for several breakfasts and lunches. Was starting to think about trying it this time around (maybe the previous reviews weren't exactly accurate), but I have to take Rhonda's opinion as pretty good. Oh well, eating at the camper can be fun too. I'll just bring my own frozen waffles

For all I care you're Walt Disney himself. Breakfast, lunch and dinner have gone down hill and it's a rip off. You can defend Disney all you want. I would be happy either cooking at my site or going off property before I will go back there. When you go to lunch they use the leftover ribs from HDDR for the "pulled pork" which I have no problem with but don't say it's that when it's rib meat. The reason I know is I scooped a bone up one day that stayed in the bowl.

There's just no pride in TE anymore which isn't the fault of the employee's. There are a lot of good people we've gone in to just say hey to when we go by.

TE has been going downhill for awhile now. It's no secret that I have made my opinions about that quite clear, in past threads. I have spoke to numerous managers at TE and expressed my opinions to them as well. They seem very agreeable to your face, but then continue to make more changes for the worse. I would prefer a Food Court like that at the All Stars or Port Orleans to the current Trails End.
I was told by 2 managers in February that there will be no food court in place of TE. They told me that they "might" be upgrading the food counter at the new pool area. I was also told that they already have a Counter service at Fort Wilderness. When I asked where it was, (even though I knew there wasn't one) the female manager told me to take the boat over to the WL. This "manager" was about 23 years old and probably never stayed at FW and had no clue about the layout of the place.
But it was VERY obvious to me that there is a movement in the Disney management to "consolidate" the services with Wilderness Lodge.
I would be OK with that, if they let me drive my golf cart over there, and not have to wait 15 minutes for a boat or bus to get there.

I agree with Rhonda, when we went it was like a free breakfast at a hotel. I got DH to go with the promise of Corned beef hash like Crystal Palace. Not so much. I would rather spend the same and go off site, or cook at the camper. I just have to learn how to make corned beef hash and biscuits and gravy!
On a side note, I think that TE would be a great place for a few friends to pop in like Chip Dale Pluto Goofy Mickey Minnie ........
