Trail's End breakfast

We were just there a little over a week ago and I have to agree. All of Disney's restaurants (counter & table service) have gone down dramatically in quality & selection, plus all the prices went way, way up. It's very disappointing as we used to love to eat at the different places. On our next trip, we'll be eating off site or at the camper, unless the DDP is free...

:rotfl:I'll be there in October, and will open my camper kitchen, 2 slices of bacon, 2sausage links, toast and scrambled eggs, $5 each what a deal.. huh.

We had enjoyed this in the past but this March trip were disappointed with the reduced selection and higher price. Very nice waiters but really doubt we will go back.

I have no experience at Trail's End as far as breakfast goes, but their dinner buffet is one of my family's favorites! We eat there at least 3 times each vacation! Their dinner buffet is plentiful and delicious. It usually consists of a carved meat, comfort foods like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese plus pizza, a salad bar, soups, chili, cold shrimp, vegetables and lots more.

Their dessert (in my opinion) used to be really great but has become disappointing. I used to enjoy their bread pudding, which their new chef no longer makes. They typically only have things like cookies, brownies or apple crisp now. I still love it though, and would def. recommend their dinner! (Totally worth the money!)

We have met some of our favorite cast members there, including Jackie, Joy & Bob! They have wonderful stories to tell and amazing personalities.

I agree that Trail's End, which was never that great of a value to begin with, has declined, but can anyone name a restaurant anywhere on WDW property where you haven't felt ripped off lately? IMHO, all of the on-property restaurants have declined in quality, but have increased in price over the past couple of years.

I blame the Disney Dining Plan (DDP). Unfortunately, WDW has successfully convinced people that this is a great deal, and they have raised prices, and decreased quality for those who are paying on a meal-by-meal basis. I think that they intentionally have set prices at an aggressively high level to make more folks buy into the DDP, thinking that they are getting a bargain. Prices, variety, and quality were better before the DDP, but I'll bet that WDW's profit has increased (which is what it is all about to them).

I don't like it, and they are getting less of my money as a result.

Personally, I could care less if the Fort ever gets a counter service restaurant. In this day and age at WDW, it will just be another rip off.

purdy much says it all.........:thumbsup2.........

I was so disappointed in my beloved HDDR last Feb.......show good food sucked...:sad2:

I was at HDDR in early December and the food was excellent as always... sorry you had a bad experience.

:santa:

JMHO and DS agrees with me, so I must be right. ;) We never have thought much of TE food, but the last few years it has declined to the point we refused to eat there. :sad1:

And sadly I agree all the dining experience at WDW has declined over the years while the prices rose higher and higher.

HDDR food is marginal at best.......bland baked beans.......tough ribs......soggy fried chicken.....I did like the SS :cutie:cake though..........

for all that money....:sad2:

In my experience the food at HDDR is quite good... love the cornbread, the ribs are perfect and delicious (they don't fall off the bone, which is the sign of an overcooked rib at BBQ competitions), and the fried chicken is traditional southern fried chicken (and delicious). The only things I don't care for are the strawberry shortcake (BRING BACK THE APPLE PIE!) and there is no option for real beer versus light. Again, I can only speak from my experience, but my visits to HDDR have been a hit all the way around.

We did HDDR in February and the food was absolutely awesome! Show was great too.. one of the highlights of our vacation.:)

The food at the HDDR has allways been great in my openion. I don't normaly eat ribs but I tend to eat way to much every time we go. Couldn't even finish that last glass of sangria I was stuffed.
Great Food:thumbsup2

We ate at the HDDR for the first time back in 12/07 and loved it, I think I ate a whole bucket of ribs and chicken by myself. The CM waiting on us noticed how much I liked and told me that the food is exactly the same at the TE. Since then I’ve eaten at the TE every chance I’ve gotten and being from the south I agree with Shan-man the chicken is fried southern style and delicious, I also loved the ribs and cornbread. BUT that being said I have noticed a bit of a downturn in quality and increase in price especially for breakfast, but as other people have said that seems to be the common theme in all of DisneyWorld. The TE is still my favorite buffet in DW, and I’ll keep going back until my cholesterol gets so high that the doctor makes me stop. :)

I agree! Bring on the high cholesteral...if it means munching on their delicious chicken and corn bread - I'm in! This is one of my family's favorite restaurants in Disney and we will continue to visit it every year!

I loved their breakfast and my daughter loved their lunch so we would go at 11:30 so we could get both, it has been a couple months since we were last there other then we went yesterday for lunch which was horrible. The amount of money it costs would have been better spent elsewhere. Even the sweet tea was bad and so was the servers attitude. You would think that since Disney laid off so many people they would have kept the best of the best. Has anyone been to Mickeys Backyard BBQ this year yet, is it as good as last year?

ITA but I also think that the service in general has declined. This is one of the main reasons that I am staying off-site this year. Hopefully things will improve soon.

I went to Trails End numerous times but after last week with the expense and horrible food / service we won't be back for quite awhile. We have enjoyed Park Faire but how many times can you see Cindy, so once a year or so enough. Have always loved Mickey's Backyard BBQ and i am wondering if it has changed since they reopened. WE only did the dining plan once but it seemed like to much food and it was too difficult for us to be held to a schedule for reservations.

I'm sad to hear from some of you guys that the food at HDDR has declined - except for Shan - and he's the original "Mikey" from the old Life cereal commercial - you know.... "Let Mikey try it! He'll eat anything." (Sorry Shan, couldn't resist!)

Admittedly, I have not been to HDDR in a LOT of years (prefer the Luau), but when last I went, I really enjoyed the food and the show.

Last time we were at FtW for a bike ride (2 weeks ago), we got fried chicken to go. It was, as always, YUMMY!! Asked for all white & got two huge chicken breasts. Glad DH & I got one dinner & split it, cause we could never have eaten one dinner each. There was only one time we got the "Giddy-Up & Go" dinner that we were disappointed. One time in 35 years is pretty good, I'd say.

T.E. pizza has always been lousy. Some traditions never change!
