Just thinking aloud- I am sure there is no way this can be done, but wouldn't it be cool if we could trade points to Disney for things like park hoppers, etc.

For example, 30 points for one 7-10 day park hopper or free dining, etc.

For those of us who scraped money together to buy in, but don't necessarily have $1000 a year for 4 park passes. Again, I know in reality it wouldn't work, but just dreaming...

actually I do rent out points, but that really wasn't the point- renting points involves risk, trust, hassle, whereas a trade directly with disney would be a bit more secure. anyway.... never mind.... thanks anyway for humoring me....

It simply depends on the accounting. I might at $9-10 a point but never at $5-6 a point unless it was use or lose time.

I think it would be a nice way to use the few points we may have left at any given UY end that aren't enough to make a stay out of. Not a bad idea, IMHO! :goodvibes

For me, my points are way too precious to spend on anything other than accommodations. :)

I think it's a good idea. Don't know that I would ever do it, but...

As for "renting" points instead.... I didn't buy DVC to run a small business on the side with the points.

i'd love to trade back points for passes or whatever!

i hate the concept of members renting out their points - it makes money for them, not for disney/dvc and puts a non-member in a ressie that a dvc member could have had. if cro could get the room back to book, couldn't disney/dvc make the money and use it to keep maintenance fees lower, improve mousekeeping and better furnish/rehab its resorts?

i'd be in favor of anything that was a good incentive to prevent renting points and keeping dvc for the owners who bought into the program.

no - this money would go to pay back the tickets or dinning - DVC would not get one penny....

I don't mean to pick on you but your post seemed to be a good place to make a point. I wonder how many people worry about the number of points they spend but take the attitude that the points are gone already so it doesn't matter how they spend them. The "I bought to use and don't care how much it costs" philosophy. I'd think that worrying about the upfront and long terms costs, as well as maximizing points, goes hand in hand.

Yes but don't think it will happen.
