Toystoryduo’s Journal: Baby Steps are the Key... Celebrate Each Victory!

Mean old bugs, that is so not cool :)

I hope your energy picks up soon, or at least that you enjoy a little down time. You certainly deserve it!

Ouch, that makes me hurt to think of your wasp stings! That is a bummer dh was gone today, but you'll get the stuff done for your dd's party. Maybe this weekend? Hope you got some down time today, sounds like you need it! Remember to think about Tracy and do what is best for her! And thanks for all your prayers and hugs, they do find their way here to me in Colorado and they do help! You are a great friend Wish Sis and we will do this!

I am going to find that Bob Green book tomorrow if it kills me! When is he on Oprah next?

Hello friends,

The saga of the wasp/hornet stings continues.... I still have quite a bit of pain and itchiness. I'm going to walk up to the store with my DDs today and buy some anti-itch medicine. I'm not sure why I am in so much pain, but I sure hope it goes away soon!

It looks like we will be getting prepared for my DD4's birthday party during the week next week. We're having a cookout for 20+ people and I don't want to buy the stuff too early. Here's what our week looks like next week:

Today: Our 11th Wedding Anniversary! We're celebrating in WDW, but will be going to the Irish Fest in Cleveland with family tonight.

Tomorrow: DH has a job to do in the morning and deejaying in the evening.

Sunday: Church, party prep., cleaning, relaxing?

Monday: Cleaning, DH works, Soccer Meeting

Tuesday: Cleaning, DH works

Wednesday: Cleaning, DH works, DD6's Cooking Class

Thursday: DH out of town for work, More Cleaning:scared:

Friday: DD4 turns into DD5 :woohoo: , Birthday Party at Home, Chuck E Cheese, Party at Grandma's that night

Saturday: More Cleaning, DH deejays

Sunday: DD5 and her cousin's birthday party at our house!:yay:

After the party is over, we have about a week before homeschooling starts again. This summer is going fast!

That's about all from here! Have a great weekend!:goodvibes

******************************************************

Scott~ Thanks! I really want to rev up my workouts for the next month or so since we'll be in WDW in September and then again in December. I'll be working on next month's goals over the weekend. Thanks for your encouragement!:goodvibes

Laurie and Bekki~ Thanks! I'm hoping this medicine will make the pain and itchiness from the stings go away.:goodvibes Have a great weekend!

Amy~ Thanks WISH sis! I'm not sure when Bob will be on Oprah again. I am thinking about coming up with a 50 days to WDW challenge over the weekend. Not sure what it will involve yet, but it will hopefully be something to motivate me to keep exercising and trying to stay on track with Bob. Lots of prayers and pixie dust coming your way!

Good morning friends,

My DH is working unexpectedly this morning so I find myself with a little bit of downtime before the busyness of the week ahead begins. I've been thinking about a new challenge that will last until we leave for WDW....It's tenatively called the Countdown to 50... 50 Days of Fitness, Food, and Freeze....Catchy title? ;) Here's what it may entail...(I'm working on the details here in my journal.)

We will soon have 50 days until we leave for WDW and I want to feel my best when we go. So, for the next 50 days, I propose (I do have to think about this.:lmao: ) the following:

Fitness: Two a day workouts. The first workout of the day will be a moderate cardio or weight workout. The second workout could be a walk, playing tennis, riding my bike, an ab workout e.t.c. I always feel better when I am consistently working out and this would help.

Food: Continue working on no eating 2 hours before bed and begin watching/limiting calories.

Freeze: I would put the family on a spending freeze. We need to add more money to our savings account and we can't do that if we spend it all. We would stick to paying Disney off, paying bills, and buying only necessary items. Eating out would be limited to special occasions such as birthdays only.

Reward: A new bathing suit! There's nothing wrong with my old one except that it's ugly.:rotfl2: I would buy the bathing suit now to try on and if I don't make my goals, I will have to return it before we leave for WDW. My DH will gladly hold me accountable to this.:thumbsup2

Am I going to shoot for 50/50 in every category? :confused3 I'm not sure. I don't want my all or nothing mentality to get in the way, so I may allow myself a small amount of leeway to have a not so good day and then start fresh the next day. I definitely don't want to have a bad day and then give up all together.:sad2:

So what do y'all think? A good idea? Any thoughts? I am open to any suggestions that my WISH buddies might have.:grouphug: I have 4 days to make my decision....

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Hi Tracy
hope the bites/stings are healing
I love your new challenge title :goodvibes
I think maybe it would be better not to buy the bathing suit yet, i think it would be more of an incentive if you dont have it AND it may be too big after the 50 days!!

Hey Tracy--I love your idea for the challenge!!! I think it is a great motivation for you, and maybe just what you need for a little push on this last push to your trip!!! I can't wait to hear how it goes!

Keep up the good work!!

Thanks everyone!:grouphug:

I'm still thinking about the details of the challenge. I'm thinking that 50 days of 2 a day workouts might be way too much. So, do you think I should:

1. Go for the 2/ a day workouts for the next 50 days, but allow myself 5 days during that time where I can be off program?

or

2. Go for 50 days of exercise and maybe 2 a day workouts twice a week?

or

3. Just workout for 50 days and any extra exercise is a bonus?

The last couple of days, I have been more tired than usual. Today, my throat and head hurts so I am wondering if maybe I am coming down with something.

We're still thinking about the menu for my DD4's birthday pary on Sunday. My DH says cookout and I say let's order pizza.:thumbsup2 We need to decide soon because after tomorrow, the week gets quite busy.

July Goals:
1. Exercise Daily: 21/31 (50 minute walk )
2. Healthy Breakfast: 21/31 (Kashi Go Lean Crunch )
3. Eating Stops 2 Hours Before Bed:19/31 (counting tonight already because I am headed to bed soon)

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!:grouphug:

I like your challenge idea. I would say 50 workouts though. 2 a day everyday might be difficult to achieve and you don't want to set yourself up to fail. You need something that you can feel good about achieving. I love the idea of buying the bathing suit now too. That will definitely help keep you on track!:thumbsup2

I agree - 50 workouts and anything else is bonus. Make sure you give your body a little break every now and then...maybe a day of just walking a mile or so instead of an intense workout....remember those muscles need some regrouping time.

Have fun with the party planning....:sad2: My DD will be 8 on Friday....she just wants the family to spend the day together....good thing since we don't know anyone else!!!:rolleyes1

marie

Another vote here for option 3 :)
You dont want to be tired out at WDW ;)

Could you go 50 minutes of exercise each day? I'm not sure how that fits into your fitness goals, it seems like a lot to me but if you count like strength training/ab work and cardio, I think it's totally possible.

But maybe the idea of 50 workouts between now and then is good too. That way, if you're having a good day and fit in 2, you can compinsate for a day where you might feel ill or whatever.

Other than that.... I LOVE the challenge. Good good good for you for coming up with such a clever (and really achievable) way to spend the next 50 days. I'm in awe :)

I say pizza. So much easier on everyone!

Have a great day :cheer2:

I love the challenge idea too. I need a new challenge for myself.

I like the idea of 50 workouts. That way you can still incorporate a few rest days in there and not feel guilty about it. :thumbsup2

Happy (early) birthday to your DD! 5 is an awesome age for girls! :cutie: My DD is 8, like Marie's and I'd pay anything to turn back the clock to 4 or 5.

Take care, and keep us posted on your final decision for your challenge.

Oh, and thanks as always for being such a great source of inspiration on my journal. I know I'm not great about getting on to other people's journals regularly, but I SO appreciate your posts and think of you and your family often.

I think a challenge is a great idea!!!!! good idea for me too ;)

just stopping by to say hello--hope you are having a great week

Hi Tracy...

Just stopping by to tell you that I think the idea of a new challenge for yourself is a great idea :). Just be careful to not set your goal sooo high that you stress yourself a bunch trying to reach it. 50 workouts total though is a very attainable goal IMO :). That gives you the flexibility to do two in one day when the mood strikes you and you should take some rest days as well. I think it gives you a challenge without pushing yourself over the edge. You seem really inspired lately...even getting out there to run!!! Keep up the great effort! :goodvibes

Sending you some PD that you aren't getting sick :(. Nobody likes being sick...but it's extra stinky when it hits in the heat of the summer! Get some rest!!!

I like the idea of 50 workouts too (all great minds think alike). Just make sure they are 50 doable workouts, remember yard and housework count too! You can do this, I love your idea, I think I have about 92 days until my trip so maybe I need a challenge myself! Hope dd's party is a success, keep it easy for sure! Thanks for all your support, now go out and buy that bathing suit!

P.S. I have found the Bob Greene book and am going to read it this weekend. Maybe I'll log onto Oprah's website and see when his next appearance is. That always motivates me to see those people, and lets face it Bob Greene is seriously cute.

Hi Tracy :)

I think the idea of a challenge is great. Just be sure to not overdo it by being too agressive, cause then it's easy to get a sense of failure. I think you should go for 5-6 days of solid cardio and then the rest is just extra beneficial stuff.

Have fun with the bday this weekend and good luck with the challenge...you have the desire, now you just need the follow through and you'll be all set for WDW :)

Good morning everyone,

Today looks to be a busy day....I've got a bathroom and a bedroom to clean and the girls have their room to clean as well. I don't understand why every piece of clothing they own is in the middle of their floor and not in their dresser, but by the end of the day, I hope to see their floor again.

I've also got some other stuff to do today.... running around, party prep, e.t.c. We've decided to have pizza and wings at the party. I'm also leaning towards buying a cake from Sam's Club. The issue? I can make a cake myself for $3.00 or buy one with a Care Bear (DD's theme) for $20 at Sam's. I'd have to buy a cake pan too since I let someone borrow mine and never got it back. (Can't remember who I lent it to.:confused3 ) I'll decide by tomorrow....

Today is day 1 of my Countdown to 50 Challenge. My goals:

1. Fitness: 50 workouts

2. Food: One salad a day, no eating 2 hours before bed

3. Freeze: No extra spending, no eating out (except birthdays), buying only what we need. This could be challenging with a vacation coming up.

July Goals:
1. Exercise Daily: 24/26 = 92%
2. Healthy Breakfast: 24/26 = 92%
3. Eating Stops 2 Hours Before Bed:20/26 =76%

This will be the last day I post about my July goals since I am headed into a new challenge. The numbers look okay. I am still working on the 2 hours before bed thing, but at least breakfast appears to be going well.

Finally, I'd like to ask for your prayers for my DH. Yesterday he got a phone call about a huge project that he may become involved in. If he accepts the work, life will become 100X's more hectic than it is now. There are a lot of factors involved.... Please pray that he would make the right decision about the project. The money would be excellent, but the schedule might be next to impossible. Thanks!

Have a great day!

Anna~ Thanks WISH sis! I decided to scale back to just 50 workouts instead of 100. I think 100 would have been too much and increased the chances of injury before WDW. We'll miss you WISH sis, but always know we are here for you when you need us!:grouphug:

Marie~ Happy Birthday to your DD too!:goodvibes Welcome Back!

Tracey~ Thanks! I like option #3 too!

Bekki~ I think I am going to try and shoot for at least 50 minutes a day for the next 50 days. Great idea!:thumbsup2 We decided to go with the pizza and wings for the party. I like that someone else is making the food!:woohoo:

Kim~ Thank you so much Kim! Your post blessed my heart today:hug: Thank you for your encouragement and kind words!

Jen~ Thanks! We are having a pretty good week so far. We're working on cleaning bedrooms today and the girls' room is a disaster..... We'll see how the week looks tomorrow. ;) :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

AmyBeth~ Thanks so much! I enjoyed the run, except for the shin splints. ;) Once I get a good pair of running shoes and lose some of this weight, I hope to add running into my workout rotation. I am feeling better today. Thanks!:goodvibes

Amy&Dan~ Thanks WISH sis! I've missed you around here! The bathing suit I wanted is out of stock at JcPenneys so I'm not sure what I will do about that. Bathing suit shopping is not one of my favorite pastimes. :rolleyes1 I think I'll get my Bob Greene book out this weekend and re-read Phase 1 for some inspiration. Thanks!

Scott~ Thanks!:goodvibes I think I will try focusing on some good cardio workouts and add in some weights once or twice a week. Thanks for the good wishes for the party and the challenge....Hopefully, both will be a success!:goodvibes

I'm so glad you liked my idea, becuase I thought it was a really good one :lmao: (Oh yeah, I'm modest!)

But seriously, I really think you CAN and WILL be able to accomplish it. And we're here for you, to cheer ya on!

Hey Tracy--I am glad to hear you are going for the 50 workouts instead of 100, I think that is a very good idea. You are going to do great on your Challenge!!!!

Hope you have a great weekend, and your DD's party is a lot of fun!

I am sure your husband will make the best decision for him and the family, I will be thinking of you guys!!!
