I think the theming will be excellent, Disney always live up to par in that department.

Its just the rides, the Slinky Dog ride looks fun but the other 2 :confused3

The picture reminds me of Honey I shrunk the kids play area at WDW just without rides.

I think the idea of a Toy Story themed area is great - my son would love it. But my worry is that 2 of the rides shown here would just be too much for him - he would certainly shy away from the U-shaped 'coaster' ride and the parachute ride. I think they may be making another mistake like Crush's coaster - putting rides in that the films target audience will find too intense.

I really like the idea of a Toy Soldier themed ride though, and my son would love something like that, but he wouldn't go on the parachute ride - I think an indoor dark ride with interactive shooting (similar to Buzz's Laser Blast) would work much better.

Or how about a Buzz themed flight simulator ride to give Star Tours a run for its money? Or a more child friendly mini-coaster (seeing as Aerosmith and Crush aren't really suitable for younger kids), again based on a Buzz spaceship theme - almost like a mini Space Mountain.

I'm no expert on Disney or DLRP as I've only been once and about to make our second trip but to me it doesn't look so bad. It is a concept drawing and as Jon has pointed out by inclusion of the other drawing it's probably not what the end result will be.

I do agree that Disney/Pixar have been at the forefront of Disney's magic over quite a few years now so it seems fitting to expand in that area. I also agree that most children will probably love it :goodvibes Not sure about some adults though ;)

BTW - when was Disney's last sell out/award winning animated film? i.e. without Pixar - I'd be interested to know as I have no idea :confused3

Bolt is the latest one, but its not award winning.

I dont know how they could include a Bolt ride in DLRP.

Bolt was a moderate success at the box office and received quite a few nominations for awards, including an Oscar nomination - being in the same release period for awards as WALL.E meant in never won any of the awards, but was fairly well received by critics.

Pixar films are aimed at all ages, and more recently seem to have more adult targeted content than previous titles - I think the addition of Pixar will attract people of all ages, and with the re-release of the Toy Story films as well as the long anticipated third film, a Toy Story theme to the land is perfect. I can't wait to see what shape the rides finally take.

Hmmm I had read that Bolt wasn't a great success so far? It does make you wonder doesn't it. I don't think it compares to the likes of Toy Story and it's success?? :confused3

The fact they are expanding the Studios has to be a good thing - at least they are spending some cash on it?

I thought that aswell Patsy.

im not sure i would like to be trapped in a ball lol

It didn't do so well in America but did more than twice that abroad to make almost $400 million worldwide, which would make it the #2 film of 2009 had it been released this year (was released in 2008 in America so even though it was released in 2009 in a lot of places it counts as a 2008 film).

Anyone who has been to Disneyland Parid this year, was there any Bolt stuff in the park?

i hope there is *** ash has fallen in love with bolt and she says she wants a bolt teddy

With the amount of well known characters Pixar have produced they could have a mini parade in the new land, which could lead on to a big signing and photograph session. Be a great way to pull the crowds away from the rides for an hour. Maybe it could be in place of the Good Morning WDS (if that even exists outside my head?) or 3 parade type things in one day might be too much. Be good if they could add a show or two, and Christmas in the new land has the potential to be bags of fun.

Well i think they should bring Pixar Place to DLRP, its a great way to seperate Pixar from the Disney classics.

Its worked in DHS so im sure it would work in WDS.

My concern here is that the concept art looks very much like Flik's Fun Fair in DCA, which although cute in some ways, it is not a very good or Disneyish addition. I think Toon Studios has it's flaws and this adds to the jumble. I think a good themed eatery and a dark ride of some sort (TSMM, LIttle Mermaid, Ratatouille) would have a much more positive impact on the park.

It's been a long time, but I agree with Lil Mermaid - it looks like Beanoland or Thomas the Tank Land, not like the Disney attractions that made it's name.

And remember, Fantasyland works because t has dark rides, shops, restaurants, things to explore and spinners. If it were just the Carousel, Dumbo and Tea Cups, I do not think it would be anywhere near as popular.

also, just think, when Car opened, you could get near Luigi and Guido for photos, now no more. why would this part be any different?

Wow didnt think i'd see the day where we would agree on something :rotfl2:

I think this looks fantastic. We're just back and when I mentioned to my kids about a Toy Story Land, even my 15 year old looked keen. Toy Story was a massive move of the 90's and most kids from then will love it.

I'd much rather have somewhere where my younger son can run around and let off steam, instead of another Crush that he can't even get on - even though it's themed on one of his favourite films (I just can't work that out).

I agree that Pixar films are some of the best Disney films in recent years, and that the younger generation are loving these.

Having not been to the Studios for 4 years I have to say that the entire family loved it - don't shoot me here - more than the main park. The Cars theming was fantastic, Monsters Inc, and I agree that Woody's Roundup would have been excellent in the Studios.

I like that the Studios isn't massive - we can split up and meet back at Walt and Mickey without a 10 mile hike.

Bring it on!

Yes, there were some cuddly toys etc in the toy shop beside Cafe Mickey - can't remember seeing any inside the parks, but I wasn't looking for them.

I'm hoping there will be restaurants and other 'bits' to with it a bit like Fantasyland - surely there will be - it won't just be 'rides' :confused3

Someone told me Disney & Pixar have split and are no longer making films together - is this true? I'm a Disney novice really (sorry!) :lmao:

PS - In an attempt to gen up I'm going to search out 'From Sketch to Reality' whilst away :thumbsup2:lmao:

I dont think there will be restaurants etc as its not a proper land like Fantasyland- i think its just the 3 rides.

There may be a kiosk for drinks but I imagine that will be all
