Touring SSR question

Hello! We are headed to WDW for nine glorious nights on Friday, October 22. We arrive at MCO at 3:30 and checkin at Pop Century for two nights before heading over to BCV for seven. We would love to visit SSR on Friday after checking in as we just purchased a 130 point add-on there.

Questions:

What hours will they allow Members to visit?

Should we take the bus to DD and walk over to SSR? If so, where can we find the walkway?

I would take a bus to either Studios or Epcot - both are quicker than the DD bus - then just get on the SSR bus

DVC had a time when DVC members could tour the new resort without having to go through their guides --- I don't remember it...

I would call DVC when I arrive in my resort room and ask when members can tour. they should also tell your the room number.

From the Member Clubhouse:

After the Member Update, be sure to tour the Model Rooms at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. They're open daily for Members from 5:00 to 7:00 pm—the only time that you may tour the Model Rooms without first visiting the Disney Vacation Club Preview Center. Just take the elevator or stairs to Room 2607 on the second floor of building one at Congress Park, and check in with a Cast Member upon arrival.

I agree with spiceycat on the transportation suggestion. If you want to see the main pool / restaurant / spa area, be sure to get off the bus at the first stop. You'll then have to walk about 10 minutes to get to the model rooms.

You may want to try the DD walk on your way back. Standing outside of the building with the model rooms, looking at Downtown Disney, you'll head to the left to reach the walkway. This will take you past the Leisure Pool BBQ area, and the other 3 buildings that are open.

Another possibility:

We bought into SSR in Sept 04 - sight (and site) unseen - and then stayed at the Polynesian in Oct 04. We told our Guide we'd be down there, and he sent a DVC Van to pick us up, met us at the DVC Sales Center, showed us the models (gave us the pins) and had the van take us back. Might be worth a call....
