toshiba satellite

Walmart has this for sale cheap toshiba satelite L645d-S4025. Does anyone know if it is ok? We mostly email and web surf.

It says its $498, I got one for $299 in December. It's great! I got it for dd for Christmas. I also have a Satellite that I use for a variety of things. I've had it for 5 years and it's still going strong (using it now)! If you wait around a couple months you might be able to save a couple hundred $$$.

We are on our second one! The first lasted 7 or 8 years and we liked it so much we got a new one with a better operating system when Vista came out!

I got mine back in December and I love it. I use it mostly for school, e-mail, and playing around online.

I bought my each of my kids one of their own and liked them so much that I bought my mom one for Christmas. Very reliable. I only paid $299 for the kids and mayne $349 for my mom's. If you can wait until some of the back to school sales start, you will save a lot. Use the extra to get a good anti-virus program!!!! I made that mistake and had to spend $$ getting my daughter's computer fixed!

I've got one of these and I love it. Toshiba also has a great warranty. We downloaded a virus on ours that crashed our system. Toshiba replaced the entire hard drive free of charge and the laptop was like new again. I don't think you can go wrong with this purchase.

I have a much differing opinion, it seems. I had a Toshiba Satellite and it worked for about 3 months. Then, it freaked out. It would run super hot, randomly shut off all of the time and was just an all around nuisance. Toshiba has all kinds of problems with batteries and mine ended up recalled, but - I only found out after searching on the internet. Even though I registered it and sent in all of the paperwork to go along with it, I wasn't notified by either Best Buy where I got it or the company itself. By the time I figured it out I was past the warranty and stuck with a computer that didn't work. Instead of paying almost 200 bucks for a battery for a computer I now HATED, I spent 600 on a brand new Sony Vaio which I love and am still using today, 3 years later.

I know it may not be the case with all Toshibas. I just have such STRONG feelings against the company I felt compelled to tell you my story.

My DH has one and loves it. He has had it for 6 1/2 years and its still going strong even runs Vista on it. We only had one issue and it was the charger was starting to show its age and come apart from the battery (wires exposed) but we just bought a new one for $25, way cheaper than a new computer and not a bad problem for a 6 year old computer.

"Satellite" is just the name of this particular laptop. It is not really a satellite of any kind.

We have one and I prefer it to the over $1000 laptops at work. I mainly only use it for internet when more than one of us wants to use a computer! It has worked fine for us since August.

DH has had a couple Toshiba Satellite laptops, and they've been great. Mine, however, has been a different story. I've got one that runs hot and shuts off randomly for no reason. I'm looking for a new laptop and I'm considering other brands. DH is looking for a couple laptops for his classroom, and he's wanting Toshiba because his history has been so good with them.

Using mine now! 1st one got a virus & crashed but I saved it anyway.Liked it so much I bought a second one, DD kncked it off on the floor and the screen shattered so I switched the screens out and now I still have my laptop! I will buy another when they go back down in the $300 range!

I just got a Satelite A665 last weekend. Geek squad replaced my Sony Viao that was broken, So far I like it a lot! It's super fast!
