Tornado jitters.

Okay, there's a huge tornado in Cave Spring, GA, about an hour from us. I went down and fixed up the basement room. We'll just have to squeeze in there regardless of what Chrstian does. It might be a very long night, but we'll be pretty safe down there.

It really is the best.

We live in an area where we simply don't GET this sort of weather normally... and we are being hammered. This is not a normal set of storms. Please be safe *hugs*.

I don't know if i can get him down there. And I'm very sure there will be no sleeping down there. The interior room is very small. Not big enough to lay him down. My downstairs is pretty exposed--bit vaulted ceiling, big ole windows. I think the upstairs hallway might actually be safer. I don't know if I can keep him confined in the basement. Christian is severely autistic, bigger and stronger than me, and it's very hard to get him to change his routine. I don't want to get into a wrestling match with him. Ugh. These storms are just passing over the state line into Georgia. I think I'm going to be up late watching the weather.

Good--I was thinking more along the lines of him sleeping on a cot or on a couch in the basement so IF you have to go to a safe room, you just have to get him to walk over to that room vs going down stairs to get there. Put Christian in the safe room first if you have to go in there so he doesn't have a choice to get out. Does his nurse stay at your home overnight or is he just there for a few hours to help with bedtime?

Hey GA peeps, I just got this on my twitter feed

RT @TORNADOHUNT: *AVOID* I-75 in North Georgia at all costs. Tornadoes will cross the interstate this evening.

No, our nurse just left. He has a full-time job working in a nursing home, so I'm sure they'll be needing him tonight. DH is working with Christian now and it's not pretty. Christian must be picking up on all the anxiety because all he wants to do is pace. We're trying to keep him down on the main level with us. Unfortunately, there is no place to just hang out in the basement--no beds or couches. Just boxes of stuff, lots of things that would become missiles if the windows blow. This is making me crazy.

Thanks, Mandy! Everything is hitting north of us right now, but I have a feeling that will change before it's all supposed to be over. Of course, my DD is at a dress rehearsal until 10:00 tonight! I had so hoped they would end the rehearsal by 9:00, but no such luck.

Minky, stay safe! Your area is probably going to get hit harder than us. I'll be thinking about you all!

Glad you got him down there!!:thumbsup2

I just heard from James Span that there have been 25 fatalitys. :sad1:

Now my hometown of Annistion & Oxford is about to get slammed!:scared1:

If I can jump on this...

AVOID I-81 in Tennessee. All these storms are literally following the highway up through Knoxville and on. It really is a bit odd. We have had rotation and hail with these storms so it would be wise to stay away!

if anyone is on twitter, I recommend following askjimmycarter I've seen TN/AL news on his feed

Most people around here have finished basements/family room set-ups so I guess when I hear basement, that is what I think of. No, not fun sitting around on boxes :lmao:.

Anything left over from when he broke his hip that kept him "busy" during that time that you could do?

We are in a warning at the moment, but the storm is actually pretty north of us at this time. I am downstairs still, but keeping an eye on the TV.

Tornado spotted north of Kingsport and heading into VA. Also a possible tornado in Fall Branch and one possible in Dandridge.

Another update from twitter:

RT @TWCBreaking: Atlanta Dr Greg Forbes says most dangerous wave of storms about 2 hrs out #severe

Just south of Knoxville is under a Tornado Warning... Hamblen, Jefferson, and Cocke also just went under a tornado warning. That is 2 counties southwest of us, so if it keeps going northeast, we may get hit by this storm set.

I'm in Hamblen County. We've been watching the news since 6pm. They just said that it is heading toward Greene County now.

Yea, I am fighting the dog under the stairs at the moment. He is not a happy puppy. Also making it hard for me to hear the TV that I left on.

I just looked at the National weather Service Map and :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

There has to be 50 tornado warnings out for the SE states. Please be careful!!

Tor:Con index of 8 for the Atlanta area just posted on the weather channel. Be safe everybody!

Just spoke to my BIL , lives in Huntsville, it's passed there, tree in roof but family safe. My family in Madisonville , tn been in basement on and off all day . A quick reminder to watch the candles once the electricity is out . Bil's neighbor across the street house is on fire as I type this . 4 firetruck on the scene. Stay safe !

I've been watching the weather channel. I have a very dear friend who lives in Atlanta.

My heart breaks for all those affected by these storms. They just said that 15 are confirmed dead in Tuscaloosa and a 3 story hotel has collapsed in Rome, Georgia.

I'm praying this ends soon!

Is anyone else as nervous as I am about the next couple of days weather patterns in the south?

Living in the south it's a part of life in the spring but I saw what has happened to the mid west and I'm going to admit that I'm down right scared.

The weather channel guy isn't helping with his Tor Con of 8 for us here in the mid state. :scared1::scared1:

Here's to praying that everone makes it through the next few days.

I was afraid this morning and with good reason! It is terrible here in Chattanooga. We have been under multiple tornado warnings since 8:45am and they are still coming. We have had several tornados touch down here and my dad's office roof was torn off and his sign blown away. Needless to say, it is super scary here!

Hackleburg Alabama/Marion Co Alabama is basically GONE! likely F-4.. may be the worst place of many bad places...TOTAL DEVASTATION pop 1527
