Is the Tropicana worth an extra $200.00 over HoJo? It would be 3 adult women for 3 nights on the trip. I am thinking it would be safer for us walking the shorter distance, but I know the rooms at HoJo are (maybe) a little bigger. We would not be using the pools or other hotel amenities
Thanks!!

I have only stayed at the Tropicana once years and years ago and didn't enjoy it. The room did seem smaller than the Hojo rooms I have stayed in. Our room was also kind of dark and depressing. I don't know if updates since have brightened things up. We did not like the parking situation either.

I have stayed at Hojo dozens of times and would choose it, especially for a $200 savings. I will add though that I have no mobility issues and don't mind a few extra steps even on long Disney days. Also, I have only stayed in buildings 1 and 2 which are the larger buildings. I have never tried the two-story courtyard buildings at Hojo. As for safety, I have generally not felt unsafe when walking back although only rarely have I walked back alone. To minimize discomfort, I would just choose to walk on the side of the street with the hotels rather than the park side of the street and to be vigilant, especially late at night.

I stay at the Tropicana regularly, and it's become my go to. It's so convenient and we have a consistently great experience. We're only in the room to sleep. It's clean, comfortable, and it was renovated within the past 5 years. I personally think the extra $200 split amongst 4 people is worth it because of the proximity. At the end of the night, walking past Tropicana to HoJo will be disappointing!

If Tropicana's layout doesn't suit you, maybe look at Camelot next door. They are a sister property of Tropicana.

I’ve stayed at both. Can’t speak to the room size as we had a bunk bed room at Hojo’s, but I had a good experience at both hotels and would stay at either again. When we were at Hojo’s last summer, we did lament a bit about the longer walk, but it’s really not horrible. I always feel perfectly safe doing it on the side of the street with all the businesses. The rooms in both hotels are nice and bright - I think both have been updated in the last few years. We were in the tower at Hojo’s.

I do think Hojo’s has construction coming up to refurb the rooms in the 2 story buildings, so that’s something to consider.

I would probably lean towards Tropicana due to the proximity. It’s just so nice coming back from walking so much in the parks to only need to walk directly across the street and you’re there. As a PP said, Camelot is another option. I’ve stayed there, too, and it was fine as well.
