Our best DVC memory of 2002 is our 2nd vacation this past Nov/Dec. Being a part of all the Christmas celebrations and enjoying the parks all decorated and lit made it an extra-special holiday season for us.

A second cool thing this year was seeing our faces on the "Leave A Legacy" monuments at EPCOT. It's so nice to know that a part of ourselves is still at WDW, even though we're back in NJ.

What's your top 2 of 2002???

sorry but since you asked here goes. We have 2 memories of DVC for 2002
1) cruise was cancelled. It was booked on points so it's a DVC memory/nightmare
2) since cruise was cancelled 22hrs before we were to leave our house, we had to burn points we normally wouldnt have. The only place to get us in for 8 consecutive nights was Port Orleans/French Quarter

let's hope 2003 shows us why we became DVC members

Favorite two DVC memories of 2002:

1) getting to spend 2 nights in a VWL studio after our May Wonder cruise. We own at Boardwalk so it was nice to try out this resort.

2) having a full week at our home away from home (Boardwalk) in October. We did a 2 bedroom and brought the in-laws along. Should have left them home :)

Looking forward to a memory from 2003 - the DVC member cruise!

Best 2 memories....(only 2??!!!)

1) Going home to BCV for the first time and having a wonderful week in Sept. - very relaxing!!

2) Making reservations for 2 WEEKS at BCV in July 2003 after adding on some extra points.

It would be hard to imagine life getting any better!! :)

Best two memories:

1. Spending all day at EPCOT with my DW, DD(8) and DS(6), touring all the Countries while they made their masks. Then followed by the TOD parade. Was one of my best days ever.

2. Adding 60 points at VWL.

Have a great day.:Pinkbounc :jester: :bounce:

Our 2 favorites......

1. Without a DOUBT...our Boardwalk view from our last vacation. It was amazing. I still get goosebumps when I think of it, we were right above the DVC offices on the 3rd floor at the end of the hall. AMAZING!!

2. I guess the add on we did when we were there, and the fact that it was all DH's idea!! I love that he has totally gotten into WDW so much more since we joined DVC!!!

:p You guys are cracking me up!!! (LOL) "imgoingtodisney"... I hope 2003 reverses the 2002 misfortunes! "WDWLVR"... your comment about the in-laws was very much understood!

All the posts are very much appreciated. Keep 'em coming!!!

The first one's easy. We bought DVC on my recommendation-solo trip and tour. So I was really nervous on our first trip "home". Yet, I'll never forget the look on DH's face after he toured a 2-BR at OKW (which we'd asked to see for a possible next year's trip), and when he turned to me and said "THAT's where we're staying!" At that moment I knew he was happy with our decision to join!
Probably, the second moment is a common one-sitting on my balcony at BCV on another solo trip, listening to the faint music coming from Epcot, while I drank my morning coffee. Lovely!

Best two memories from 2002?

1] In January 2002 we got two OKW studios, one for Mom & I one for a family friend who had never been to Florida. As cold as it was we still managed to have a wonderful trip and create special memories. In July the family friend was diagnosed with a brain tumor and passed away 6 weeks later.

2] From Dec 3rd to Dec 13th Mom & I stayed in a 1 Bdrm at OKW, we were able to see the night launch of an Atlas rocket - we stood just outside our front door in our pajamas and watched as the rocket took a satellite into orbit. An amazing sight, even as far as we were from the Kennedy Space Center. Also this was our first trip during the holidays, and we saw the Candlelight Processional and MVMCP...a magical trip.

The two that come immediately to mind:

1) For the first time in four tries, we all had our eyes open and were smiling in the Chef Mickey's picture during our October visit!!! That's pretty good for six people. It made a great framed gift for my parents who always complain about not having any pix of all of us.

2) Walking into our OKW 2 bedroom to find it was newly renovated with all new beds, appliances, and such. It made the visit home seem even more special as the room seemed "new" to us and for us.

Hmmm ...... my two favorite memories for 2002. Here goes,

1. Sharing a "toast" of hot fudge sundays from the Main Street Ice Cream Shoppe with my wife (and best friend) during the first few moments of the year. The !! Spectacular !! fireworks had just ended, and thirty thousand of our closest friends were heading out the entrance. Why they were in a hurry to leave I don't know - MK stayed open till 1 a.m.

2. Sharing our DVC with family. Our gift to them - Mom, FiL, brother, and cousin - was to invite them for our first stay at our home resort, OKW. Six nights over New Years in a OKW Grand Villa - man, did we burn some points on that one >:-O . We even insisted that mom & FiL have the master bedroom , as their mobility was less than ours. This is one of the best family memories that I have.

Btw, the "cash" price for that stay was over half the cost of the contract. We purchased resale in summer of 2000 and have already passed the break-even point, any stays from here on out are gravy. :sunny:

My two favorite DVC Moments:

1) The Disney Magic in August with Family and Friends! We did Palos for the first time and loved it! What a great way to spend your points (but I can't afford to it every year).

2) Meeting friends at Beach Club Villa for the Food and Wine Fest this past November. Spending the time eating and drinking around the world and then enjoying the resort! There is nothing like vacationing with friends and family!

Two favorite DVC memories of 2002--Mmmmm, how can I choose just 2?

1. Receiving a free stay at BWI in May after purchasing at BCV and enjoying the perks of DVC members for the first time i.e. use of the Community Hall, free use of the Health Club.

2. My DH and I going home to BCV in November for the first time on our first trip without kids since our honeymoon. Highlights, other than staying at a fantastic resort, were Epcot's Food & Wine Festival and being the first family on Splash Mountain one day.

Planning 3 visits home for 2003 and looking to make many more special memories!

P.S. This is really a fun thread! Great idea, NJParkhopper!

1) Having my parents, brother & SIL join us for a week at the BWV in July. My brother and SIL still talk about how much they miss the BWV! They mention it every time we talk to them. We are from MI and they live in CA, so we don't see them all that often. It was a great time and a very memorable trip!

2) Adding on enough points at HH so we can stay in a 2 BR every summer for 5 days!

1. We also added more HH points to be able to vacation every summer instead of every other summer. What a treat for us as well as the kids. We're always talking about the next time we go to HH.
2. We just returned from WDW and know without DVC we wouldn't have gone. It was a very relaxing vacation -- not our typical description of a trip to WDW. My favorite memory from this trip was at MVMCP when my DS2 rode Dumbo several times in a row without exiting. DS2 thinks that his little arm is the one that makes Dumbo take off for every flight. He even found that it worked when he was standing outside of the ride. A very special memory for me.

Memory #1 - Our magical (if unexpected!) WDW trip. Our 11/30 cruise was cancelled and we did WDW with only a couple of day's notice, yet it turned out to be the best WDW trip we have ever had. Joe at MS was terrific and a great help at a confusing time, the holiday decorations were wonderful, the CMs were fabulous and MVMCP was a blast! As the planner of the family I learned that sometimes things just don't go according to plan...but they can be equally terrific. It was fun to do things on the spur of the moment and have no real game-plan. We took this trip day by day and I have to admit, it was the most relaxing trip I've ever had. And the best part of it all is...

Memory #2 - Booking our cruise for 10/11/03...at 1/2 price! Thanks to our cancelled cruise we were able to book our next cruise at 50% off so we spent 396 DVC points for the 4 adults and paid 50% of the cash price for the kids. And we switched to the Western itinerary so now I have new ports and excursions to look into!

Life is good.

1. Finally joining DVC (OKW and BCV).

2. The spectacular views from our savannah view room at AKL. This rates as the number one resort at WDW for me. I wish they would forget Eagle Pines and put a DVC resort next to AKL.

1. Surprise trip to VWL for DD 4th birthday...magic documented in thread upon return...wouldn't have even thought of that trip without DVC.

2. 02 was first year of DVC for us, too many memories of HH, 2 VWL trips, and a trade out to Big Cedar to list. Can an add on be far away? Best investment in family time we could have made!

I hear AKL is a nice resort, JimC. I know that the reason the next DVC property, Saratoga Springs Resort (the resort formerly known as Disney Institute), is next to be built is that the infrastructure is already there (roads, main check-in, pools, etc.) This therefore gives DVC a quicker turn-around on project completion for much-needed DVC properties.

But from what I hear, some DVC villas at AKL would definitely rock!
