Too much food for these Newlyweds Sep. DxDP 11/08

You are doing a great job, I love reading the most important info 1st then going back over each persons comments if I have time. :thumbsup2

Love all the pictures!! You are doing great--that is from one threadkiller to another!!

you're off to a good start - keep it up! And don't worry about replies ... lots of folks like to read but don't always want to post anything ... lots of lurkers here on the DIS. :goodvibes

and if it makes you feel any better the very first reviews I posted here a few years back got a grand total of five responses (no pictures ... I've since learned my lesson). :scared1::laughing:

Thank you all for your kind words...Didnt mean to sound like a pity party, I've had a report before go nowhere fast and part of me was wondering if this one was too. :) Glad to see its not!

Bear with me, this may be a long one. I would first like to start out by thanking MickeyNicki for our BEST Meal "Experience" of the trip. About 2 weeks before I was to turn in our ADR's to the IPO, California Grill was not on the list. I couldn't find anything on the menu that look good. I even asked the Dis about eating off the kids menu, but then decided not to try it. After seeing her review of California Grill, where she showed the pork tenderloin, which I had just learned I liked, I knew I had to have it!!

We took the Monorial to the Contemporary, checked in and was taken up the restaurant. While waiting we went out on the deck to check out the view.

After being seated we were thrilled to have gotten a window seat with the most perfect view of MK and the sunset, with some pixie dust on the table!

Our waiter was great, said he had been there forever, and never left us wanting for anything~! We told him about our love of Moscato D'Asti and they didnt have that, but they did have Moscato Allegro so we decided to splurge and buy a bottle....Keep in mind I just starting drinking wine a week earlier so getting a bottle was probably over kill and I did end up slightly tipsy so I apologize if my picture quality diminishes throughout the dinner.

Loved the bread and butter, don't know why more places outside the world dont do the whole salt on the butter thing :confused3

My App was "Triple Cheese - Pecorino, Asiago, and Provolone with Sun-dried Tomato and Arugula Pesto."
IMG_0742.jpg

Dh's app-"Spicy Kazan Roll - crab, shrimp, bay scallops, tuna and fireball sauce"
IMG_0744.jpg

They asked if he wanted chopsticks, which he said he didnt know how so they gave him "training wheels" which he loved!
IMG_0745.jpg

Dh-"Oak-fired Filet of Beef - with warm Yukon potato salad, blue lake beans, mustard vinaigrette, and teriyaki barbecue sauce "
IMG_0746.jpg

Mine-"Grilled Pork Tenderloin - with goat cheese polenta, button mushrooms and zinfandel glaze."
IMG_0747.jpg

I cannot find DH's dessert on allears, but it was some kind of lemon cheesecake if I remember correctly.
IMG_0751.jpg

Minw- "Valrhona Chocolate Cake and Cherries - Warm chocolate cake with molten center." Tonights ice cream was a salted caramel and then it looks like a grilled pineapple?
IMG_0748.jpg

DH thought the sushi was great, I dont like sushi I tried a bite and it wasnt bad. He wasnt fond of the sauce on the filet and wished he had ordered the tenderloin, same goes for the cheesecake, it wasn't bad, but thought my chocolate cake was much better.

I thought the flatbread was very good, and i was very proud of myself for eating the green pesto stuff on it, you couldn't even taste it! Pork tenderloin was good, though it wasn't "too die for." I subbed mashed potatoes for the polenta, so maybe next time I will keep the polent. The chocolate cake was to die for! The caramel ice cream was great, and the pineapples. I was so glad it was caramel ice cream, bc I wouldnt have eaten cherry, coffee, strawberry etc. The wine was great as well, though next time we will just have a glass with our dessert. At the end I started to take my "pixie dust" home for my scrap book and our waiter gave us a tiny little envelope to carry it in! Super impressed with that :) DH has ultimately decided that California Grill is a must-do for every trip now!

I'm enjoying your reviews!! And congratulations on your recent marriage!!! We're leaving for our Disneymoon next week, and I plan on doing some reviews as well. Can't wait to read more!

Thanks! Have fun on your disneymoon, I hope you have as much fun and wonderful memories as we did!!

Great job so far. I enjoy each entry you have created and it's solved some of my questions for our upcoming December trip. Looks like the choices we made so far have been spot on based on your reviews.

Thanks

I am so glad you enjoyed your meal at CG! Next time get the polenta, it really adds to the pork.

Your view was a million times better than mine, it rained the entire meal and you could not see a thing outside.

Thanks for a wonderful review on CG. We usually go to Narcoossee's and we are going to try CG this trip...hopefully the husband likes it (he loves sushi). Thanks again for sharing

I am loving your reviews!

I can't wait to try California Grill for the first time on Christmas Eve, so I really appreciate your review. My DS has been too young to take to places like this so I am really looking forward to it.

Thanks again for your great reviews! :flower3:

If he loves sushi, he will definitely find something he likes :)

Christmas eve? I am so jealous!

So how was the Allegro compared to a D'Asti? It really looked like a nice wine! I can't wait to go to CG in November and try it!

The sushi looks AMAZING! DD14 and I are big sushi fans:lovestruc This was one of the major draws to CG for me;)

Your reviews are great! Keep them comin':hippie:

I like splitting sushi and flatbreads instead of getting an entree. Add another appetizer and dessert, and that's dinner for me. If I'm not splitting sushi and flatbreads, I do get an entree. :)

The polenta is awesome. Do try it someday. :)

Today was our day of "rest." We had our CL breakfast then headed to Downtown disney to do some shopping. First we stopped into Goofy's and I got a pretzel rod with reese's pieces and he got the white chocolate chunk cookie. Actually we went back after lunch and got the exact same thing!!

Then it was off to Earl of Sandwhich. I had the original and he had the Ham & Swiss

The Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce

Ham and Swiss - Roasted Ham with Swiss cheese and Earl's mustard

For my "side" I got a rice crispie treat and he got the fruit cup. I also got a bag of chips with a snack credit. I know, not a very good use of a snack credit, but when when you are CL and Deluxe, its hard to use those things!! The sandwhiches were very good, though I left feeling a little disapointed. Part of it was that i built it up too much in my head and next time I will try a different sandwhich. I do have one complaint..that rice krispy treat was NOT what we have here at home?? It was the only one I tried at WDW so maybe I got a bad one but this was super soft and extremely flexible, I couldnt eat it. I'm use to them being a little more firm?
