Tonight - Spaceship Earth evacuated!

I got stuck on Mission Space this past November. It took about half an hour before they got us out of the pods on ladders. We were given fast passes that were good until the end of our trip.

We got stuck and then walked off TT this past Oct.We were outside on the track that SLANTS!! It was DH Joe then my son Erich and me in the front of the car so I was at the TOP just being held by the seat belt.Which after 35 min. starts to cut into a persons neck! OY! Several times annoucements were made but the loud speaker was so garbbled we couldn't understand what they were saying! Finally a CM came out...we had him take our picture first then we got out of the car.
I laughed out loud at the "take our picture" part. That's the kind of stuff I usually think about the next day.

Anyway, for things breaking down - Stuff happens all the time that I don't have control of. I'm just happy that most things that happen at WDW have a happy ending.
And, who ever wrote that many of the momentray stops on rides are to let people who could not board with the moving walkway moving, you are right. They do just slow the ride if they can and limit the stops. They also try to "bunch" people who need the ride stopped together to further limit the number of times they stop. But, if they didn't slow or stop the continually loading rides, we would be very limited in what we could bring DD on.
And, I hope we never have to be evacuated- DD is only about 85 pounds, but that's 85 pounds too much to try to manouver down any steps or hard to get out of places.

I just read the MS news clip article from the homepage and wonder if this is just an added reason for stops":

""With custodians scrambling to clean up after riders, some say the attraction has become a maintenance nightmare," DeForest reported. "

just a thought

Just wondering ... from those folks complaining about not getting any compensation ... did you ask? If you went to Guest Relations or asked for an Attractions manager and specifically ASKED for compensation for the downtime or the inconvenience and didn't get compensated, that's one thing. If you never asked, then that's another. Most of the people who helped you out of the ride and were dealing with the situation likely had no authority to provide compensation. And, frankly, they were probably focused on other things at the time.

:earsboy:
Actually I wasn't really expecting it. In almost 29 years of going to Disney I have only gotten compensation offered once when we were stuck on the EPCOT monorail for over an hour. We were offered comps but since we have annual passes declined them.
Also been stuck on a bus twice when lifts broke and once on Small World. Castmembers dealt with it each time quite efficiently
The comment was wishing thinking only.

Memory just came back

Alien Encounter broke down and we were evacuated. We went through a trap door which lead outside next to the entrance.

A few months ago, I got a great spot for the Share a Dream parade, but my husband told me we had plenty of time to run and do Buzz and still get a good spot. So we waited in the 10 minute line. Got into Buzz, and half-way thru the ride it stopped. I've been on it before when it stopped but this time was different. These chain link fences popped up between the cars and the shooting area. The lights came on... and we just sat for at least 30 minutes. For the first 10 minutes, we couldn't shoot, and all our scores reset. We could here the announcements, "please stay seated. The ride will resume momentarily". Yeah, right. There were a few funny things that kept us in good humor.... I saw two CM's walking thru the ride, coming toward us so I told my family "Hey, we're going to get some real info now!". They just shouted as they went by us "Please stay seated. The ride will resume momentarily".

We got so bored I took at picture of my DH and DS in the following car. Then I passed the camera to my DH in the next car and had him take a picture of me and DD (so we have these 2 pictures now of us broken down) .... we all look so bored and frustrated, but they are hilarious to look at now!

Lights were on, we couldn't shoot, but the music kept playing. My DD and I started singing the "ooo ooooo ooooo" song that keeps getting repeated over and over and over..... Now whenever I ride through 'that' room, the song is haunting!

My DD loved seeing people in the TTA go by as we were stuck there. We got to see LOTS of targets that we never knew existed. After about 20 minutes, we were able to shoot and get scores. But the cars stayed in the same spots for the next 5 minutes. What fun! I loved shooting at the Alien in the Box. My DH found a target way on the other side of the room and got huge points for hitting it - which is easy to do when your car doesn't move for 5 minutes. Obviously, our scores all wrapped around or hit the limit, I forget what it does then. (well, not DS's since he's only 4).

We made it in time for the parade - with less than ideal seats, and the Buzz song still lingering in my mind. The next day I sat for my parade spot for an hour munching on an ice cream while the family did TTA (waving to the buzz crowd). We had great seats that day!

I never listen to hubby anymore....
