Tonga Toast

Kona Cafe's version says it comes with a strawberry compote. We are planning to visit Captain Cooks for breakfast to try Tonga Toast but does CC's come with strawberry compote also? Thanks

Sadly, it doesn't come with the strawberry compote at Captain Cook's.

I don't even miss the compote at Capt Cooks to me it's a bit sour & the Tinga toast is cheaper tastes just as good at Capt Cooks & I can get out faster and to the parks! Lol

Love my TT love Capt Cooks for speedy access to my TT, but I hate, I hate, I hate COMPOTE on my TONGA TOAST...keep the berries fresh, sliced and in a side bowl so I can enjoy the redness. Compote is for people MIT out teeth. Oh wait it was actually soufflés in that old movie line.

No "compote" at Captain Cook's but fyi it is not a true fruit compote; it is more like a smoothie syrup.

I had the TT at Kona last week. I took the first bite without the strawberry compote and then I poured it over the rest. While the compote was good, I kind of wished I hadn't poured it all over it....then I could've enjoyed more of it without the compote too. So either way, I'm sure you will enjoy it! It's truly delicious!

Yes!! Both are delicious!!! I actually like mine without the compote ( it's tart) and its sweet enough no to need syrup

I have to say no. Maybe things have changed, but two years ago we tried both versions--ordered Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks because we'd loved it so much at Kona earlier in our trip. We found that the CC version was a pale imitation. The bread was hard and tough. Filling was the same. Maybe we just had bad luck?

I do like the strawberry sauce, fwiw, but DH doesn't and we both detected a big difference.

'Ohana breakfast is served family style AYCE. Tongs toast is not on the menu. You start with bread an juice. Then there is a big skillet with eggs, potatoes, sausage, and bacon and Mickey waffles.
