Amaizng, thank you! We’re mucking around with the idea of going to Japan this summer so I’ve started pulling some info around. I think I picked this up from a later post- you booked your hotel first and picked up tickets when you got there? I was trying to find a vacation package but the website simply states they are not available, so I was wondering if that’s the “norm” now.

I think they are only currently available on the Japanese website, which requires a Japanese credit card. That may change as TDR opens up more to foreign tourists.

That's right: we booked a room at TDH first and purchased park tickets at the front desk after we checked-in (as a hotel guest, you get guaranteed ticket availability).

Vacation packages are available if you view the site in Japanese but not in English - so it appears Oriental Land Co (owner of TDR/TDL/TDS etc) hasn't figured out yet how they want to market those vacation packages to international guests.

We are looking at a trip in June 2025... Not knowing how the culture of Japan is, do the parks have allowances for things like scooters? I was dx with MS a couple of years ago and want to make the most of our time there....

From my experience pre-pandemic, it generally doesn't affect daytime crowds much. Unlike the other Disney parks where people like to go from late morning till closing, in Tokyo, people tend to go from opening till dinnertime. So going on a day with early closing means you won't be in the park during the times of the day when most attractions have their lowest waits.

Re: mobile orders

When doing a mobile order, do you need to choose / order your food when you grab the timeslot. Or can you choose a timeslot and then choose / order your food at a later point in time?

I'm mainly concerned about trying to eat at the Rapunzel or Frozen eateries in Fantasy Springs and don't want to potentially miss out on a timeslot if we're dithering trying to decide what to order. We can pre-plan what we want to order (if we're lucky enough to get a timeslot) if necessary, but just wanted to check.

You must make food selections when putting in your mobile order. But you can modify your food selection up until a few minutes before your order time so you can just order anything in the morning and change it later on.

When we last visited in Japan 2023, we never used "mobile orders". We just went to the restaurants we wanted to dine at and order at the counter without any issues or delays.

Is it now mandatory to do mobile orders (i.e. there are no longer cast members to take orders at the counter)? Or is it entirely optional?

I'm guessing its optional, except for the restaurants in Fantasy Springs at DisneySea?

If it is optional, is there any clear advantage to doing a mobile order? We generally prefer to go to the restaurant, peruse the menu, check out the food models (if any), double check that we'll be able to get a table, etc and then order.

I personally want to minimise the amount of time we have to spend bent over a mobile phone, so I'm hoping we can just "ignore" mobile orders (except if we're lucky enough to get into Fantasy Springs).

You don't have to mobile order outside of Fantasy Springs but if you want to eat at a specific restaurant at a specific time, then it's a good idea to mobile order in case lines get long. Sometimes, there will also be souvenir items like event exclusive plates, cups, etc that are only available via mobile order.

I don't think the menus indicate if items are mobile order only.

You have to read the news section at the bottom of the Japanese restaurant page to learn about souvenir item releases. For example, the latest one was a cookie sandwich case that was mobile order exclusive for 2 days when it re-released at the beginning of this month. I think it's now available with regular orders but the first batch of these cases earlier this year sold out in 4 days.

Q1. Toy Story and Fantasy Springs hotels

I'm 99% sure you can't, but can anyone confirm that you're still not allowed to visit the Toy Story and Fantasy Springs hotels unless you are a guest.

I think my daughter would mainly be interested in the Toy Story forecourt, lobby, etc, but I'm also pretty sure that access to those areas is limited to guests.

If so, which shops sell the classic Pluto hat? My daughter LOVES Pluto, so we'd like to try to buy it ASAP upon entering DisneySea to get maximum wear / value from it.

Q. "Children-friendly characteristics - May sit a child on lap" - age limit?

The webpages on the official website for a number of rides at Disneyland and DisneySea have the following statement noted:

"Children-friendly characteristics - May sit a child on lap"

Is there an age limit for this? Our three year old has recently become wary of rides which she hasn't ridden before.

It's unlikely due to the scarcity of tickets and the fact we won't be able to arrive hours before opening, but we're particularly concerned about the new Frozen and Tangled rides.

The official webpages for both of these rides include the above statement. If she could sit on my lap, that would go a long way to appeasing any concerns our daughter may have IF we're lucky enough to get a Paid Premier Access or Standby Pass for one or both of the rides.
