I am thinking of putting this on my list for an April visit. What is the story on this place? Anyone been there? Did it open recently? Any advice is appreciated. It seems like an 'under-reported' place in Epcot.

I posted some pics of this in my food report. Overall, it's a better atmosphere than Tempura Kiku and Matsu No Ma Lounge. I think tearing down walls and creating an open space makes this place look bigger than it is.

I only ordered some miso soup and a sushi roll, but they were good. You can get sushi, tempura, teriyaki items here. If you go to Japanase restaurants locally that aren't the Benihana type, you'd probably like Tokyo Dining.

Teppan Edo caters to the Benihana style, so that's what I tell people when they ask the difference between the two restaurants.

We just ate there in January and it was one of our fave meals during our vacation. We had tempura appetizers, miso soup, edamame and some rolls for dinner. My son had the kids terriyaki chicken which was more than enough for him to share with dd2. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Is this table service? And where is it? Did it replace a previous restaurant? It is new right?

DW and I ate there in December and it was one of our favorites. We are going to book again for our August 2008 trip.

Yes, everything is table service for both Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining.
It's on the right side of the Japan pavilion, at the top of the large set of stairs. Before the renovation, the restaurant with the teppan cooking tables was called Teppanyaki, and some just called it the Mitsukoshi restaurant to match the name of the department store on the first level.

There used to be a first come, first served, and very tiny tempura place called Tempura Kiko. The Matsu No Ma Lounge was next to it, and I've gone there to enjoy a sushi roll and relax. But now, they knocked down walls between Tempura Kiko and Matsu No Ma Lounge, and re-decorated it. There's an open kitchen in the back area, and it's a nice improvement.

Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining share common space. You enter on the Tokyo Dining side on the right, and there's a large waiting area on the left for the Teppan Edo dining rooms on the very far left.

The counter service place, Yakitori House, is still where it used to be on the left side of the pavlion.

We ate there on the 11th and really enjoyed it. We had the tempura shrimp and chicken. The service was fantastic. Our waitress would bring refills before we even asked for them.
