To photobomb, or not to photobomb. That is the question!

To photobomb, or not to photobomb?

  • Age 18-29: Sure Photobombing can be fun!

  • Age 18-29: No way! That's so rude!

  • Age 30-45: Fun times! I don't have a problem with it.

  • Age 30-45: Grow up!

  • Age 45-65: Hey if its in good taste why not?

  • Age 45-65: Don't mess with my memories!

  • Over 65: Life is too short! Bombs away!

  • Over 65: How cruel!

If it's not offensive and doesn't block anyone in my photo, someone photobombing wouldn't bother me in the least.

1. To go around making a habit of the practice is sort of like TP-ing someone's yard. Harmless? Yes. Childish? Again, yes. Loads of fun for the doer. But perhaps not so much for the person on the other end. We just don't know so the benefit of the doubt goes to the photo taker.

2. The photos that Jeremy posted sort of prove the point that some of the strident opinions in opposition are a bit over the top. Kind, polite, non-vulgar photobombing is often very cute.

3. 95% of people taking photos are using digital cameras and are checking the screen to see if they got the shot. So a photobombed picture is not the end of the world. Delete. Re-take.

Spontaneous fun is fun. Premeditated, persistent intrusion probably crosses the line. Just my $0.02.

Would I intentionally photobomb someone? Nope.
Would I freak out if someone intentionally photobombed me? Probably not unless it were inappropriate.

However...if we're on a ride together (even if I don't know you) I'm all for fun camera poses! One of my favorite WDW photos is from Space Mountain with a guy that I don't even know.

You know what.....Splash Mountain is kind of the original photo-bomb.

::yes::

Furthermore, the celebs that Benedict Cumberbatch photobombed in this pic likely knows him. It's one thing if someone I know photobombs my photo but a whole 'nother thing if some stranger or someone that I have absolutely no interaction or rapport with does it.

I'll bet Bono & The Edge were outraged.:mad:

We were the victim once and since then we can't get enough of it! Our favorite is to PB the foreign groups wearing the same t-shirts!

Which part couldn't you get enough of - being the victim or actually feeling you're part of a group?

Without even looking at the other replies, I'm going to add my two cents' worth.
Tacky.
Accidentally getting in someone's photo can be excused most of the time. People really don't pay attention to where they're walking or standing and don't take the time to go "around" when someone's taking a posed picture.
As I said, tacky.
:sad2:

Well in that instance it turned into a nice moment. The group in question were from Japan and, like previous posters have pointed out, 99% of photos taken these days are digital and when they saw the photo they laughed with us and thought it was cute.

I wish this was a poll...maybe someone could post one I would but don't know how. Something to show the age ranges of those that do find/don't find photo bombing acceptable. I wonder if the younger generations are cooker about it that others or if it's mixed. Personally I wouldn't care for it, wouldn't do it. Now an accidentally walk by/ through sure no biggie bound to happen. Also I don't photoshop so couldn't remove the pesky person.

The Disney pics posted I think are ok, not the type of PB I expect most would do.

To me, a person who deliberately seeks out opportunities to PB total strangers is disrespectful, inconsiderate, self entitled, irresponsible, immature, rude, thoughtless and childish, with no sense of self control. Why would anyone want to be that type of person?

I know! Everyone tries to out-photobomb one another - it's a shame it was closed when we went in January...there's always this October though.

Please don't. It's incredibly rude to intentionally ruin another's photo. We're adults, not teenagers.

So, actually feeling like you're part of a group. Got it....

If I see you taking a photo, I'll stop or go around.

If I don't see you (because your camera is 30 feet to my left), sorry, but WDW isn't a photo studio, those are public walkways, and I'm probably hurrying to get to my ADR or FP+ in time to avoid losing it.

Besides, in today's era of high-capacity digital media, one wasted frame is no big deal at all. Just wait 'till I walk thru the frame and try again.

I would rather have someone smiling in the back round then making a stink face!
