Yesterday was a beautiful day...in the 80's but not humid. We celebrated our anniversary with dinner al fresco on our patio under the gazebo. We had coconut shrimp, rice pilaf, salad, and Pina coladas. We played the Polynesian Resort loop which created a nice vibe. We did everything to prevent mosquitoes with citronella candles and tiki torches. We ran a fan which is supposed to keep them away. But they still got my feet. We took a late night swim surrounded by twinkle lights, lightning bugs, and chirping birds. It was very nice.

DD had a wonderful day in Oxford with her BF yesterday. He took her to an Alice in Wonderland themed tea which lasted 3 hours. Today, she is meeting his family.

I'm taking it easy today. It's raining on and off, so I will be inside.

Weeeelllll, I ate something healthy.

Otherwise, I didn't do so great on this checklist - too much screen time today (which also means I didn't avoid bad habits or spend that time doing things I love).

But hey, I believe in the evening reset - it's uphill from here!

I did NOTHING on the checklist. Had to work for a little bit early early. Then went to church (had the boring priest ) then is was a couple errands and heading to my in-laws. Weather wasn’t great so kids only swam for a little bit. Then DD started melting down which is not her usual. Last time she did this she had an ear infection. Fortunately there is a walk-in right near my in-laws so off we went. An hour later she was calm and diagnosed with strep. So not great but at least it got figured out quick and she’ll be done with her meds before vacation. And it makes sense now since she has been acting kind of off the last few days. Need to watch the boys for the next few days, neither has complained about not feeling well but need to watch them. I may go by the wellness center tomorrow to be on the safe side.
And we decided to add a universal day into our plans…so it will be a bit busier than anticipated.
Trying to chill now…father of the bride is on and it’s one of my faves.

It's Motivation Monday!! What's starting you off right this week?

The only think I did on the list from yesterday was maybe eat healthy but for dinner only. I had Chipotle but I only get rice, steak, tomato salsa and just a little bit of cheese. But breakfast was some cookies and lunch was a candy bar so the rest of the day was bad.

I have been battling a headache all weekend so it wasn't a great weekend. I did manage to make to a friends son's grad party and yesterday did some shopping with DD (she knew what she wanted so it didn't take long) and then grocery shopping. That was all I mustered up for the weekend. The headache is all hormonal so I am hoping in the next day it will be gone. I do not want it tomorrow. It is my birthday and I don't want to deal with it.

Happy Monday to us. I feel like I finally turned a corner over the weekend, but still have a ways to go. Over the weekend I got some household chores done and actually made it to the grocery store. Well done me. I'd love to go to the Wednesday evening outdoor music concert and to the night-at-the-museum thing Friday... fingers crossed.

Yesterday I finally got back to gluten and dairy free. Not going to lie, it is so so hard but necessary. The positive part is that it only takes a couple days to start making a difference. And I have lost some weight while being sick. I only got on the scale Friday but over the weekend dropped three pounds. Small victories.

I got in a lot of extra steps at work today...not sure how or why because it seemed like a pretty typical camp day. I'm motivated by feeling a little better. These are baby steps, but I do notice a bit of a difference. I just need to keep moving forward, forgive myself for any missteps, and not give up.

DD was in London today and saw many of the same sights I did when I was there in 1994. She was excited to discover a Disney Store there lol.

I saved this graphic that I saw somewhere (don't remember - maybe Pinterest?) and tucked it into a folder for a Topic Tuesday. - Are you good at asking for help in the middle, or do you tend to wait until your battery is fully gone?

Excellent question... I've gotten better about asking for help but I think it can depend on the thing. In general I do tend to burn out before I realize I'm burning out, I think because it happens so quickly, like daily. Having been home now for three weeks due to being sick, I'm going to have to start over again with the cadence of going in to the office, and I'm trying to figure out how to manage it better.

I definitely wait longer than I should sometimes. I am used to putting my needs last, but I am working on taking better care of myself.

I'm definitely not good at asking for help, but I've gotten a lot better at at least recognizing when my battery is getting low, and doing things that I know recharge me a bit.

Yesterday was a great day. I did have to take DD to the doctor for presurgical testing. I hate having to go downtown to the main campus but it all worked out. THen DD and I went to the county fair. This is the one I grew going to. I was in 4-H and lived at the fair this week every year. I loved being there but it was just too hot. We lasted about 2 hours. This summer has been brutal. It is the most humid summer to date going all the way back to the 1930's when they started tracking it. Even on 70 degrees days, you walk outside and just start sweating. Yesterday was about 100 again with the heat index.

After the fair, I just chilled at home and took a few naps. The heat zapped all of my energy. DH made steak and mashed potatoes for dinner. Instead of getting an ice cream cake like I normally do, our Dairy Queen makes individually cups of them, so I got that so I am not eating for the next week.

I am defiantly one that does not ask for help. This has been my downfall a lot over the last few years. Even when on empty I don't realize it and still don't ask.

Woohoo -- I had a great day yesterday and had all of my favorite foods. Sausage sandwich and fries at the fair (the same stands I have been going to since I was a kid), steak and potatoes for dinner and the individual ice cream cake for dessert.

Woohoo... I only had one coughing fit yesterday. I've already had one this morning so fingers crossed that that is it for today.

Woohoo... a couple days ago I realized I could move the shelving unit (that I don't like) from the living room to the storage closet on the deck, and I did that last night. Now I'm playing around with the layout in the living room.

Woohoo... I can now take some time off in August and in December, but I've been waffling about what to do. Yesterday I finally booked two nights at my favorite hotel at the ocean for the 3rd week of August. I've been thinking about going back to WDW in December to finish the spring trip (it felt incomplete to me, with not doing so many things due to the weather), but if I go I want to stay in a fancier resort. Yesterday I was reading the Swolphin thread and someone mentioned the discount you can get at Swan or Swan Reserve if you are a D23 member, so I joined D23... I kind of can't believe I'm not already a member. Now I'm pretty sure I'm going to go, but can't book until I get my D23 stuff.

Oneanne, I'm glad that you are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We were sick with that virus for 3-4 weeks, so you are on schedule to be well soon.

Piglet, happy belated birthday!

WOO HOO! A good friend from school came over today for lunch and to swim. I cannot believe that I go back to school in 2.5 weeks, and this was my first pool day with a friend. Between being sick during the entire month of June and the arduous training for my summer job, I'm behind on my summer activities.

WOO HOO! I will continue to work at the Boys & Girls Club during the school year from 4-6PM. It will be exhausting, but the extra money will help.

I am interested in hosting next week, 8/4-8/10, as my last weeks of summer begin to come to an end.
