Good evening!

I decided to share some pictures I took during my walk this morning at the High School Track/Football Field/Softball Field. It was a little foggy but the sun was coming out.

My camera doesn't do the scenery justice. The foliage is so beautiful!

wghrn and hanutedmansionmomma, how wonderful of both of you to participate in one of the breast cancer walks. My mom was diagnosed 8 years ago. We haven't been able to do a walk yet but want to soon.

Pikester, those pictures are beautiful. I hope you'll post more soon.

Bopsmom, wow, that sounds bad. I hope you feel better soon.

EV, now I know why I won't let my husband get an iPhone. He would drive me insane with that kind of application on his phone. And he would use it to totally embarrassed my oldest daughter who already thinks he is the most embarrassing dad in the world.

I was in denial for a little bit, but it's official, I too am a threadkiller. I even started one for FUN and killed it on the original post.:sad2:

any type of initiation rites? hazing? I'm willing to go thru whatever :worship:

Let me add my

. It looks like you already belong! We thought we had a new member but they didn't come back...glad you did. You are going to have to come up with a nickname. I will never remember that. Living In The Castle became LITC. Maybe you can be Ha Nuted! :lmao: I used to tell my kids at school there's 2 ways to mispell--not knowing the correct way or not typing the correct way. I do a lot of both!

M&N, one of my favorite sayings is, "I'd rather be alone for the right reasons than with someone for the wrong reason". So true. I could have saved myself ALOT of heartache if I hadn't married the moron I did. Then again, I wouldn't have my kids. But I have NO intention of marrying again, ever. I like the freedom I have to do what I want. Hey, we can grow old as independent old broads and have alot more fun!

I second that! Good saying too.

Good morning folks. It's me "Sukie catch-up"

Be back soon.

I was going to ask Pikester about you...You had better check in. We will wait for the tr. One day you will be snowed in up there and get around to it!

A quick Good Morning TKr's:goodvibes:goodvibes
I've had a busy week at work and haven't been on too much (more WDW money for me:yay:) and we've had company in since Friday afternoon.
I burned the crud out of my hand last night making beignets for DD and her friends-(note Don't use Hollow Handled tongs when dealing with hot oil)
The oil ran through the tongs in down my hand and arm-:scared1::sad1::sad2: I should have known better and of course DH and friends were at the sports bar. The girls were good at their first aid training! We had those Second Skin Gel burn pads in the house and they really, really work! I only have a couple of places that blistered where the burn pads didn't stay on well.

Glad that Disney fund is growing. I just hate little burns...can't imagine the pain! I do love beignets though...have to visit the French Quarter when I go to FL in Dec. I won't be counting carbs then! Hope you are doing ok!

This morning I did the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It was a 4K walk and it was great! There were thousands of people there--it was a sea of pink! I will most definitely do it again next year. Thanks to those of you who donated to sponsor me. I raised $1075.!!!!

Tonite we are off to have dinner with my parents. DS is feeling much better--I suspect this has been just a nasty cold, which seems to be going around. Today the weather is beautiful and in the 70s. Supposed to be 65-70 all week, and only one day with a chance of rain. So hopefully that will help us all feel better! My sinuses have been doing the "mold dance"--ugh...

3.gif
I hope the pompoms look pink enough!) Great job! It's going to rain Wed here. It was a beautiful day but it's damp at night. I know the mold feeling!

My DD walked w/ me and said she would run it (rather than walk) when she knows someone who has Breast Cancer. My goal is that she'll always only walk!!:thumbsup2

Now, when they have lime green month for disney, that's another story...;)

Your dd has a good heart. I do so hope she'll always walk it too. Better yet, I hope she'll be able to stop soon because a cure is found.

Pikester---loved the pics. What a great place to walk. We just have a few trees turning so far.

D&D---nice computer thingie in your siggie... Careful you don't get banned! :lmao:

I guess Kitty won't be able to check in here while gone. I hope she's enjoying her trip but she's probably worried about her family. Nature is beautiful but can be very frightening too.

I know I had to skip someone. My computer is acting up or AOL or just the DIS but I had trouble earlier so didn't want to do the 2 opened windows.

Hey guys! :flower3:
Just trolling around in cyberspace this evening. :surfweb:
DH is in AZ for the week. DD has Iowa Testing for the next couple of days so I had time on my hand.

Loved the pictures-I wish we had Fall down here.

We love beignets too but, I don't think they were worth this sort of damage.
It really beats all. I still can't believe this happened
I have 11 blisters- on top of my left hand, down the palm and down the inside of my left forearm and they all hurt!:sad1:
I have been trying to keep it wrapped but, in the night, I end up taking it off in my sleep and 2 popped and really hurt now (sorry about the TMI).

DH has an IPhone-DD showed him how to use it:rotfl:
We got the WDW menu tracker/listing for our trip. It's really cool! All the TS and QS places in all the parks, menus and prices.
We also go the maps and ride time estimator(sp).

There are some really crazy apps for that thing. DH loves the tape measure and level. DD loves the one that looks like a mouth with a moustache and when you put it in front of your face the mouth moves:laughing: They took off the 'shaken baby' from the list of apps because it was just downright sick. There is a beer mug one too that's funny. I laugh about their toy. Hell I can't even get my regular phone to work and I can't see the screen on that IPhone anyways.

BTW-DD found out last week she has to get glasses. Bless her heart she's far-sighted in one eye and near-sighted in the other.
She was not thrilled about the situation; especially when I told her she was 'rockin' that geek image' Braces, leggy, going to a school for GT:lmao:
Finally she started laughing about the whole thing and made me swear that by HS she could get contacts. Luckily she looks good in glasses and hats so she doesn't really look dorky at all.

I'll check in in the am. Have a nice night:goodvibes

Hi all:

Just a quick fly by since I'm at work and should be doing something constructive!!

DH will love the level/tape measure since he's a fix-it guy...he gets mad when I refer to it as his 'toy'...mind you he's had it 5 days now and has yet to make a phone call!!

My DS got glasses a few weeks ago...I told him he looks studious!! Both my two will need braces as well, with DD needing teeth pulled etc. Thank god for insurance!! I'd go broke making sure they can see and have a nice smile!!

Pikester Love the pictures, especially the grass since I don't see it too much. :lmao: Love fall colors. :cloud9:
BopsmomHope the pain goes away quickly. :flower3: Your DD's near/ far sighted eyes sound weird. At least glasses can correct it.

I'm glad my DH doesn't care for the latest gadgets. Don't the apps cost money to download? I already don't care for all the charges to do anything on the cell phone.

Well, I had an unusual day today. I was called to sub after 8 this am. Teachers are to be at school at 8. I said I could come but not until 9. They were ok with that. I just wet down my bed head and got ready. I had cheese and crackers for breakfast. I grabbed a pack of peanut butter crackers to take just in case....glad I did. They said I would have to change schools. I didn't think it was until lunch. But it was before so I could not stop by the house. There was a reading clinic that the teacher aide started so I could get the computer working. I then had a kdg class. It was over at 10:10. My class at the next school was 10:40. It's about a 15 min trip. I made it fine...but when I went to open up the circulation program, it said invalid username and/or password. I typed what the book said. I tried to call the other school. The library aide also changes schools at that time and she didn't answer the phone. I went to the office. The secretary called the principal who was at the workshop with the librarian...thankfully on a break. She had no answer...I said I would write the bar code numbers down. Thankfully it was only 1 class. The office told me I would be helping the kdg teacher in the pm. No problem. I knew her. I got a phone call from the teacher service to sub tomorrow too. It's a 2 day workshop. I had to call the garage first to see if I could get Patrick's appointment changed to Thurs because we leave on Friday. He just needs an oil change and a trip check. They could so I'm subbing tomorrow too...at least I will not have to change schools. I'll have 6 classes. The librarian had better check the computer tonight though. I was a little put off that she would not give me her password but she said it was to everything but hey---I am supposed to be trustworthy...she's worked with me for years. I was surprised when I learned that there was another sub called but I guess the principal was in charge of the sub since it was a workshop. At least I'm getting 2 days of work. Anyway, I did not go to the fitness center today!

Cute story from today's teaching. My friend who was my library aide for 20 years has a grandson in the kdg class I had today. She called me to tell me what he said. He went home and told his mom that his librarian wasn't there today. She asked if Martha was the substitute. He said no...her name was Miss (my last name) but she looked a lot like Martha. After she finished laughing, she explained! I really don't see him too often but I did see him last week.

Welcome, like everyone said - no hazing just pull up a computer and join right in!

Hello. I had a pretty uneventful day here. Just stayed around the house and relaxed. My oldest daughter went to see the new Toy Story movies today. She liked the movies but was highly annoyed at the prices of everything. She said a medium popcorn was 6.00 and a medium soda was 4.00. I think now she understands why we do not go to the movies too often.

hanutedmansionmomma.....WELCOME! I'm new around here too but everyone has been so wonderful. They even let me stay without officially killing any threads. I hope you'll come back and join us. Oh, and I love your signature line about your name.

JOCA - that is cheaper than ours, we paud 11.50 for a large popcorn and a large pop, we to saw the toy stories on Saturday - my SIL offered to babysit. I wasn't really impressed. It seemed like they spent more time making things in the credits leading up to the movies 3d than anything in the actual films????

Pikester, I've been thinking about Kitty's family in the Phils too. I pray they are OK.

I had a busy day--baked chocolate chip cookies this morning for a party, then put on 2 crockpots of Chicken Tortilla Soup. Went to the party this afternoon, came home and packaged up the soup into 20 individual serving containers and 2 3-serving containers. Filling up the freezer! Now I am bored silly and am reduced to playing Farmville on Facebook. (but then, SOME of you already knew that!:lmao:) Such an exciting life I lead, playing virtual games on a Saturday night.

DS is feeling about the same. He skipped the party today, and says he doesn't want to go to church tomorrow. But he really does seem ok other than the cough. Guess we'll see. I already told him he WILL go to school Monday! I got a note home saying there are 2 cases of Chicken Pox in the Middle School. Why does it have to be now, 3 weeks before my knee surgery? If it was any other time, I'd tell DS to find out who the kids are so he can go have play dates and catch the pox! (he's not immune, DD is) With my luck, he'll come down with it the day before surgery. Ugh!

Oh, y'all will LOVE this! I got a letter in the mail today from the school district. Seems my kids are eligible for reduced price school lunches. (40 cents each). Only problem is, they're NOT! Someone messed up! I filled out the form (required, even though I dont' come close to qualifying!), and didn't want to list my income (none of their darn busines...) so, since the limit for a family of 3 was $33,587, I just wrote >$33,587. Duh, that means I make MORE than that! Well, somehow they must have gotten confused so we got approved for something we shouldn't have. Guess I'll be calling them on Monday. Good grief!

Well, I'm off to see if I have any new neighbors in Farmville. How pathetic am I??:rotfl2:

Wendy - chicken tortilla soup in a crockpot??? Recipe???

JOCAmom, I must live in the dark. I did not even know there was a new Toy Story movie coming out!

Pikester, we have a child we have sponsored in the Philippines for 9 years. From reading on their website it appears that he may be right in an area in the path of the storm. It said they had already evacuated 50,000 people. Ya'll please keep Joel in your prayers for me. I will be praying for his family and Kitty's too.

Wow, whgrn! I am impressed! That is a great way to do your cooking. I never think to plan that well in advance. I don't think your Saturday night sounds too bad. Actually, it sounds an awful lot like what I am doing!

Marie- that is an awesome thing you all are doing. And did you all know Joel was our "other" choice for Walter??

Oh Bopsmom, poor you! I never heard of those burn pads before. Guess maybe I should get some for 'just in case'. Hope you heal quickly!

This morning I did the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It was a 4K walk and it was great! There were thousands of people there--it was a sea of pink! I will most definitely do it again next year. Thanks to those of you who donated to sponsor me. I raised $1075.!!!!

Wendy - (I just noticed that I never use your screen name - hope that is ok!) Congrats on doing the walk, that is so cool! Hope you are feeling better, both mine and my DH sinuses have been acting up as well, we feel your pain.

I hope I didn't offend anyone cuz this probably isn't the polically correct thing to say but...
On my FB page I posted that I am tired of seeing all the PINK everywhere. Please don't get me wrong. I whole-heartedly support the Breast Cancer cause and Whgrn did a wonderful walk to support it too. :thumbsup2 I have 4 friends who are currently living with or have beaten BC and 2 close friends who have died from Ovarian Cancer. I support them or their families every year for the walk and for other fund raising activities.

I have just been a little tired of seeing everything PINK lately. Anyone else???

All the food, newspaper ads, bags, containers, clothes and even the football players are sporting pink and it just seems like too much in your face kind of advertising. :sad2: I think you can get the point across to support the cause w/o all the pink items.
Feel like Kramer on that Seinfeld episode where he supported the AIDS fund but didn't want to wear the ribbon.

D&D - I dont think there is anything wrong with that. It is just how you feel and it is thrown in your face allot. My MIL came over the other day to see Walter and had on some sandals with a b/c logo on them. Sorry to say they were quite ugly.

Hey guys! :flower3:

Bopsmom - whew that is tooooo much phone for me. DH wants those, but as we are trying to scale back or bills they are not in the plans right now. Not to mention most of the "featres" would be a waste for me, but getting seperate plans would cost about the same anyways....

Hope you arm is better. Even the word burn scares me. I am shuddering thinking about it. You be careful now!

Just stopping in to comment and say hi, Walter is at his first day of babysitting. Grandma offered to watch him for a day so I could catch up on some sleep and that is exactly what I am going to do now that I have gotten a bit of my TK fix. Have a great day everyone and I will be back as soon as time allows!

LITC, Wendy is fine with me. You can call me anything except late for dinner!:lmao:

Chicken Tortilla Soup

1 pound chicken breast (boneless)
2 cans black beans (undrained)
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can Mexican style diced tomatoes
1 cup salsa (mild, medium or hot, your choice!)
1 can tomato sauce

Put the chicken in the bottom of the crock pot. Dump everything else on top and mix lightly (ONLY the stuff on top, not the chicken!)

Cook on HIGH for 6-8 hours. (depends on your crock pot)

Remove chicken from pot, shred. Return to pot and mix well.

Serve with shredded cheese and tortilla chips.

You can double or even triple this recipe. Portion it out and freeze for later use. I guarantee you will run out long before it would have a chance to go bad!

PIkester - Gorgeous pictures! I love the look of fall.

Mmmm...thanks for sharing. I just love new recipes for my crockpot. I use it ALL THE TIME! :thumbsup2

Kitty comes back today! :yay: Hope she had a wonderful time.

Shmu - I hope you had a great time too. Not sure when you are getting back. I promise I send my ornaments soon.

Hi everyone!
DH is home, he is covering for someone at work that has the flu. They have a test tonight on the track so he'll go in this afternoon. Really messes up my day. :lmao:
M&N Funny kid.
whgrn That soup sounds yummy.
LITC Take those naps when you can. :thumbsup2

OOOPS!!!! Made a mistake on that recipe.

Should be cook 6-8 hours on LOW. If you want, you can start it on high for the first hour and then turn it to low. but don't cook it the whole time on high or you will have burnt offerings!

Hi. It was so windy here today. I kept waiting for the power to go out because of snapped power lines but we got lucky.

whgrn, that recipe sounds so good. I already made a copy to stick in my recipe folder.

LITC, you take those naps whenever you can. I know I would do the same thing now if I could. LOL My husband and I are taking our little ones to see Toy Story this weekend. I don't even want to think about the cost for the 4 of us. :scared1:

M&N, that is one funny story. Kids are just so cute at that age.

WOW! It was sure windy here today! At least one gust as high as 44mph! YIKES! I took in all my hanging baskets (fake flowers) so they wouldn't blow away. We lost a huge tree limb in the front yard, and the wind was so strong it blew the entire thing about 15-20 feet across the lawn! Now I have to figure out how to cut the darned thing up into 8 feet sections so I can take it to the dump!

OK, I need an opinion. My kids go to our church Jr. High youth group on Wednesday evenings (they are there now). When the program was set up for the year, I was told it was being moved from my house (where they met last year) to the pastor's house which is about 25 minutes away. Not really loving that, but since the youth pastor leads the group, and he lives about a mile from me, he offered to drive my kids back and forth. Great! So I don't have to take them. There is another boy in the church (his dad is an elder) who is also in the group, and his dad would bring him here and he would ride with the youth pastor and my kids. OK, perfect. Aaron drives a Camry, he can hold 3 kids.

The first week, no problem. The second week, the other boy shows up with a friend in tow. Still no problem, DD just has to sit in front (she's the oldest and the biggest). Fine. But then last week, the boy shows up with TWO friends. Aairon apparently had not expected this, because when I asked how he was going to drive 5 kids he was all flustered and said he had no idea.

So, I offered my SUV, which seats 7, but told him I was trading it in, so he would only be able to use it last week. Tonite, all the kids showed up again, and since I still have the same SUV, he drove it again. but what about next week?

Now, here's my feeling. When the arrangements were initially made, I agreed to it on the basis of Aaron would be driving my kids to and from the meeting each week. The other boy would be dropped off here and picked up here and would ride along with Aaron and my kids. That was fine.

Now the situation has changed, and all of a sudden there is talk of car pooling and taking turns driving. That is NOT what I agreed to! I have kept to my part of the agreement. *I* did not add kids to the group who would need to be driven. I think it's great that this kid wants to bring his friends, but I think his parents and the friends' parents should be the ones to do the driving.

The biggest issue here is that I am having knee surgery in 3 weeks and will be unable to drive for 4-6 weeks, maybe longer. So how are my kids gonna get to the meetings? I knew this when the arrangements were initially made, and had I known I would be expected to drive, I would have said it will not work for me becuase I will not be able to.

Am I wrong here? How do I handle this? Any thoughts, opinions and suggestions will me most appreciated!

whgrn I don't think you are wrong. :flower3: I would tell the youth pastor what you told us. That you expected the group to be only the three boys riding with him. You can not drive because of your pending surgery. If they decide not to pick up your boys then I'd look for another church. (warning- I've had bad experiences with youth groups, wouldn't send my kid to one period. So you may not want to listen to me.)

whgrn, that sure is a tough situation to be put in. I think you are going to have a sit down with all parties involved. I don't think you are being unreasonable expecting them to uphold their end of the original deal. I think when the other child and his parents brought along the other children, they changed the agreement and it should be their responsibility to make sure that their son and his friends have transportation. Maybe if you and the youth pastor can get together and talk before hand, you could present an united front when speaking to the other boy's dad. If you are both on the same page, it might make things go smoother.

Wendy: I would just speak to the youth pastor and say you are having surgery and will be out of commision until ---whatever time. Say your kids do love attending and you were very thankful for the ride he has been giving them. If it is no longer available, your kids will not be able to go. And then shut your mouth! It's now his problem. He needs to deal with the other parents. He agreed to give your kids rides. If he goes back on his word, he has to answer to that. Maybe then you need to put a bug in the senior pastor's ear like my kids can no longer attend since their transportation is no longer available and I am physically unable to drive them. This is such a shame that this ministry isn't open to my kids. You are simply putting the responsibility on his shoulders...he made the promise to you and your kids to get them there. He needs to see it is carried out. It's good others want ot go but it's not really your problem how they get there.
