TKers Take the Fifth!

Hey all, I'm back. Had a nice weekend with the family celebrating Mom and Dad's 50th. The resort was really beautiful, as was the scenery. Food was WAY too good! (gotta get back to reality in the kitchen tomorrow...) I'm so glad Dad was well enough to do this trip. it was a very special time.

Now it's back to the real world. 2 more days of summer vacation and then the kids go back Thursday. They got their schedules, locker assignments, and bus assignments, and DS has checked in with his friends to make sure they are in the same classes (they are). This summer has just flown by--I can't believe it's September tomorrow!

Shmu, I loved your McDonalds story! Happy Anniversary to you and DH.

So D&D, how was the first day??

As soon as I stop feeling so stuffed from dinner I am off to bed--I am TIRED!

Good morning! Its a beautiful morning here. Perfect for a lovely cup of tea.

My ticker is totally wrong. I leave for vacation in 25 days! I changed my Chef Mickey lunch to a Kona breakfast. Just didn't feel in the mood for a buffet, plus its been getting some bad reviews lately. Have confidence I'll see the characters elsewhere. And the thought of macadamia pancakes is just making me drool.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful weekend with the family, Wendy. What grades are the kids going into? Gosh, its school time again!

M&N...that pic of the kitty on the keyboard made me laugh. Saved it to my wallpaper, still makes me laugh everytime I see it. Its wonderful!

When is DL55 getting back?

Let's have a good day everyone! Big hugs!

oops...double post. Slow Dis/broken computer.

This is my 3rd try to say good morning...My computer gets a screen that says internet can't find that page--or something like that. I feel your pain Kitty!
Anyway...Good Morning (almost afternoon) if this gets posted...if it doesn't, I'm giving up for now...but then you wouldn't even know I was here! So I'll have to do a good afternoon post! Oh well...I'm rambling now...just putting off trying to post...here goes....

I'm a little disappointed w/ you all. Found us on page 3:eek:. Where is everyone???

Kids had a good first day back. I, on the other hand, am so busy, I am exhausted when I get home. Kids could keep going well past bedtime. :headache: Never realized or appreciated what it takes to run (or help run) a school. Yikes! Anyway, I'm sure it will get easier. Hopefully!!!!

What's up with the temps lately??? Upper WI and MI had FROST the last few nights. :scared1: None here thakfully, but temps in the upper 30s at night. Good gravy. I am soooo not ready to move into fall or winter. :sad2:

Where's that DL55???? I'm dying to see some pics. :hyper:

Whgrn - Glad you had a good weekend. Enjoy your last day of summer. :beach: Hope its warmer in your neck of the woods.

Shmu - Loved your pictures. Glad you had a great time this weekend. What a shame they put Crocs on a cute doll. Such abuse!
Study hard. The world needs good Kindergarten teachers. Our K4 teacher was at her wits end today. Kids crying, no one wanting to nap, some kids who didn't know how to eat properly or use the bathroom w/o help. Yikes! These poor kids eat like toddlers or infants. What must their homelife be like?? Boy do we have our work cut out for us this year.

M&N - Did that deadbeat friend of yours ever pay up???;)

Hope all is well in TKer land. Hello to all!!!:wave2:

OK...2nd time trying to post...

Hey D&D. That deadbeat paid up and the check didn't bounce either! Of course it was for more than she owed...:confused3 I was glad to do it. If you want some pretzels to impress the fac, let me know. I still have to take the janitors some every now and then!

I do not answer my phone until I hear who it is. I got a strange call tonight. The lady said she lived up the street from me so I picked up. It turns out that she had a post card my friends sent me from their cruise in Dec. She's had it for a while but just found it again and decided to look me up in the phone book. She was so nice. She said she just thought I would want to know that I did get one. I had teased my friend about sending me one...I just love postcards. So my friend had writen something about it being a miracle about her sending me one. The house number was wrong. I just thought it was funny...I do wish that she would have given it to me but she didn't seem to think that was necessary and I didn't press my luck!

12 hrs later...here I am again...
I see there's nothing new.
I'm off to Hershey Park with my cousin and little girl...kiddie rides here we come!

Morning all:

It's been pretty quiet here the last few days...Happy Anniversary Shmu!

We've had a busy few days...went to a family BBQ for DH's clan...lots of Aunts/Uncles etc. Sunday we went to the Toronto Zoo which was lots of fun...they had a special display of Sharks & Stingrays they the kids could pet (much like Seaworld does)

Our kids are still off until next week but thank goodness the forecast is good...low 70s but lots of sunshine. Had the propane guy refill the pool heater tank AGAIN...usually we go through one large tank a summer, we're on our third this year!!

On the Mary Poppins note, I have never seen her at Disney. I've heard she sometimes makes an appearance at Akershus, and sometimes in England. I've made it a mission to find her this trip!

We found her at CRT:

Wow! It has been relatively quiet around here the past few days. I guess that is good though if it means everyone is doing well and some of the crisises have eased up a bit.

MagiKitty, congrats on having a clean up mood. I really would like to have one of those come over me but alas... I have had the lazy bug lately so my house looks like crap!

Bopsmom, that was a great link for finding characters. I never can guess if my DD will be interested in pursuing autographs or not but I will keep it handy, just in case.

LivinInTheCastle, so after the shower are you almost set for B-LITC? You are right, they do require a lot of stuff. Be sure to stock up on those diapers because they are little pooper machines right from the start! I know I would no more than get one changed and they would already be going again. Ahhh, so much to look forward to, right? Thankfully, one look at their beautiful face makes the not so fun stuff not even matter. Good luck finding the perfect baby name. A leg massage sounds so good!

D&DDisney, yay for getting the kids back to school. I hope the new job is going well. How's your Spanish coming along?

Shmu, it sounds like you had a wonderful anniversary celebration.

M&N, it was nice of you neighbor to finally get around to giving you your postcard although it is kinda odd that she waited so long. Hope you have fun on the kiddie rides today. Those are my favorite!

whgrn, 50 years for mom and dad. That is pretty neat! Yay for getting the kids all settled back in at home and into school.

BKMETV, what a beautiful picture! Your DD is a cutie!

Pikester, yippee for making your ADRs! Maybe we will see each other on the 4th in DS. The December park hours came out now so we can really get busy tweaking our plans!

Today is my 90 day mark! Unfortunately, we won't be in the park on our arrival day and I won't need a ressie until our 3rd day. Friday I will be on the phone seeing just how that reservation system goes... and then many days afterwards since we are not staying onsite.

Yesterday was opening day of DOVE SEASON! My guys were up at the crack of dawn. DH tried to convince me I should get up to cook them breakfast and see them off. Well, he was way off cause I WAS NOT getting up that early! SOMEHOW they managed to make it out the door without me. They came in for a lunch break and then headed back out until dark. They had a successful hunt and bagged 24. They were sure a tuckered out twosome. Even DS talked about how tired he was and he never admits to that so I can only imagine how pooped poor old dad was. Here's a picture of my fearless hunters.

Good afternoon everyone! Another pretty day here.

Ev, your daughter is just so cute! I love the freckles (this from a fellow-freckler). Enjoy those last days of summer and the swimming! We did CRT last year, and Mary Poppins wasn't there. :guilty: Trying this year for Akershus and stalking England for her.

D&D...so how's school going? these first few weeks are always hectic. Does your district have the Jewish holidays off? We get them off here...the kids go back to school for a week, then have shortened weeks. They really don't have a full week of school until October usually.

Have a great day at Hershey M&N! Ride the monorail and Kissing Tower for me.

Was informed that nephew's case goes before a grand jury next Tuesday. Don't know what that entails really, just that we'lll be seeing that guy again. Haven't spoken to nephew about it yet. Should see him this weekend. Its my brother's (his fathers) birthday this week and we're having family dinner. Since we'll have to drive up to Binghamton anyway on Tuesday, I guess we'll just drive him back up.

My hair is getting to me. I need 10 inches to donate to locks of love. My hair is curly, so I have to be careful how much I cut off or else I'll look like a poof-head! I blew-dried my hair straight last night and with aching arms and lots of product, I was successful. My hair almost down to my waist! :scared1: Curly, its about halfway down my back. I have a dilemma. At this point, just deal with all the hair until I can donate it to someone who needs it more than I. It'll be worth the hassle in the end.

I printed out all the food at the F&W kiosks and now I'm rethinking my ADRs. I may not need a TS while at EPCOT! There's so much snacking to be done. We're planning 3 days at F&W, and during that time, we have TS at Akersus, Tokyo Dining, and Le Cellier. I really don't want to give up any of them, they each have their own merits. Decisions, decisions. Plus, all that snacking is really OOP, so that's not really budget-friendly.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Marie, I must have just missed your posting. My house will always look like a tornado hit it....its just my comfort zone. I do much better amongst chaos.

Congrats on 90 days! We're less than a month out and I'm STILL debating my ADRs!

Woo-hoo for dove season. 24! That's a good day. Do your men just do opening day, or will they go out for more? How long is dove season anyway? Do you freeze them all? Do the boys prep them or is that up to you?

LITC....let me know what diapers you're going to use. According to my friends, babies are shaped differently and some are definitely Pampers babies, and some are Luvs. Ok, whatever. Regardless, I always clip coupons and just get rid of the diaper ones. So I'll keep my eyes open and clip those for you. Every little bit helps. And don't forget to join UPromise! A certain percentage of buying certain items goes into an account that you can later use for college. BF and I linked our CCs to an account and we're saved over $500 for yet-to-be-determined baby. I didn't buy anything that I wasn't going to use anyway, and by the time I have a baby, who knows how expensive college will be?

Hey Kitty! I guess my comfort zone must be chaos too! Just wait til you have kids.... it gets even worse!
The girl who cleans my house is also the one whose mother had the brain tumor. Thankfully, her mother is finally doing some better. She has been staying at the hospital this entire time. She called yesterday to say that she wanted to come clean my house. You know life has really been pretty tough when you look forward to going back to work! Anyway, I am so glad her mom is doing better AND glad my house is gonna get clean again.
We have too much in common! My hair is driving me batty too. I actually had an appointment but canceled to save the money for now. I am going to have to do something before our trip or I will end up reverting back to the pony tail thing which I really don't need to do cause I have done it for way too many years already. Why couldn't being bald just have become fashionable? It would have simplified things so much!
Good luck deciding on the ADRs!

24 dove for the day was pretty good. Their limit is actually 15 per day each, so 30 total. I think they were satisfied. DH seemed to be having a time earlier in the day missing his shots. I told him it was probably because they got up too early and he was not awake enough. I get tickled with them because DS always says he gets the most and DH always says he let him. I am not sure which one to believe but I really am leaning towards DS simply because DH might tend to exaggerate a bit and not want to look bad but also because DS is just always so darn good at everything he does! Opening day is their big event but they have 2 months to get in some more hunting. With Jiu-Jitsu class on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and sometimes Monday it does cut down much of their spare time. They are heading back out this evening after DH gets in from work. DH generally does all the work but he has started including DS in on the cleaning part. When they get through I have a whole section in the freezer devoted to stockpiling dove for Christmas dinner. Last year we had so many that he was able to invite his brother over. He only has vision in one of his eyes so he is no longer able to hunt very well any more but he does enjoy eating them. He would go "mmmmm" after nearly every bite and I bet he ate a dozen birds by himself! I have never in my life seen someone enjoy their food so much. DH does all the dove cooking so I enjoy it too but not nearly as much as DBIL.

Oooh! I am excited. I ran across an offer awhile back for the Disney Visa. I already have one but I applied for DH and will be getting a $100 Disney gift card after the first use! The card arrived today so I am going to renew our anti-virus with it that I would have had to do anyway. Good deal there too because they sent me a e-mail to save 40% on the renewal! If only it were always this easy to find a good deal! Anyway, so now I will have $100 extra to add to my $224 of Disney Rewards to spend on souvenirs or pay for dining.

I'm so tired...I wasn't this tired when the TKers were at Hershey. We were on the go for the 2 1/2 hrs we were there. That little girl was so excited. She would not ride the horses and she is afraid of the characters. She rode 1 ride alone and that was a first. She wants mommie to ride too but some don't let adults go. She gave me a kiss on the Kissing Tower. She was tired too! Her parents had taken her 2 times. Once was spent in the water park area. Needless to say, I am not going to the fitness center today!

Kitty--I went to the F&W last year and we just ate around the world...no need for a regular meal...there's plenty to eat and drink. Did I tell you about the little gift card you can buy that has a wrist thing attached? It was great for paying because you didn't have to keep getting money and putting change away. I ate over $50! Mom and I shared some. If you have any leftover money on it you can spend it for anything---I had no leftover money! :confused3 I cannot remember my favorites though...need to check my journal I guess. I just know there was no problem finding food. It really was better than I imagined!

Marie--Sounds like the guys sure enjoyed themselves. My dad and uncle would always come back from fishing 'arguing' about who did better and telling those wild fish tales! Makes great memories.

Great Mary Poppins pic EV. I saw her in England twice. Your dd looks like a princess!

M&N...those kids can really poop you out. Make sure you drink plenty of water. All that walking can get to you.

Actually went for a walk myself today. Thinking about all this food on my trip has made me paranoid. I'm even contemplating packing "fat shorts" (elastic) to wear towards the end of the trip.

Marie...congrats on the extra money! I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a place to spend it....

Yes, M&N, you did tell me about that card for dining! Thanks again! I'm going to be embarassed about how much I'll spend on food....I decided to keep the TS, b/c I'm a far more adventurous eater than BF....I figured I should feed him.

Addendum: thank you Dis! just got my 10 day car rental down to $174! I had originally reserved for $300! That's more money for snacks...

Well, it's official. I made my ADRs today for my Nov/Dec 2009 trip! Since we are doing the Quick Service Plan to try it out I only needed to make 2 ADRs this time which we will be paying OOP. I got Hoop-Dee-Doo for 5:00PM, Cat 1 on Dec 1st and I got Tusker House character breakfast for 8:10AM on Dec 3rd. Both of those were exactly when I wanted them!:woohoo:

Now I suppose I better get off my duff and go do something around here.

Have a good day!

Hey Pike, congrats on getting the ADR's you want. I am rarely that lucky, actually I dont think I have ever been that lucky!

I need to get ready to leave in a little bit for classes so I do not have a whole lot of time but I had a second.

Wanted to share real quick what we did for Anniversary and share a few pics since not all of you are on FB.

Adding some pics here first....but the DIS is VERY slow right now so we will see if this works.

Saturday -- DH and I went and saw Julie and Julia. He LOVED it. Second time for me and I loved seeing it again.

Sunday -- Woke up and went to McDonald's for breakfast. Reason-- When DH and I went to get engagement ring he only had enough $ to get us a Super Combo meal at McDonald's and we had to share. Best meal I have ever had and I really don't like their food. What love young does.

Then we headed up to Cleveland, GA and stopped by Babyland General--Home of the Cabbage Patch doll. I have a lot of pics but can only share a few right now. Wanted MagicKitty to see a few since she LOVES dolls. I thought about you when we were there.

Next we went to Helen, GA. All the architecture is of a German town. We ate lunch at the Trolls Tavern and sat on the patio watching people tube down the river. Fun.

We shopped. Bought fudge and funnel cake. Yummy. Also bought some wine made in GA we tried at a wine tasting in one of the shops. Mmmmm.

Heading out of town we stopped in an Antique store that was in a house from the 1800's. I enjoyed looking at the house more than the stuff.

Then we stopped at a Mexican restaurant closer to home and talked about our day. We had a GREAT time.

169.jpg

Old Raggedy Ann and Andy. I had a Raggedy Ann I carried everywhere with me when I was little.

237.jpg

One of the rooms of Babyland. Set up as a school room. Puny is in one of the windows.

242.jpg

Same room at the desks. Puny joined the class.

Wish I could add more but that's all the time I have for now. I have a pic with a Cabbage Patch doll wearing Crocs.:rotfl2:and some Nascar Babies too. I'll add them when I can. Gotta go get that degree.:teacher:

Hey Shmu-thanks for the update and pics. I used to love CPK. Always wondered why the arms were so far back from the body.

Hey Ev--that is just an awesome pic. I love it!

Thanks for the offer Kitty- I will let you know. I was pretty glad we got lots of kinds of diapers so I can test them all.

Hello to M&N, I just want to say thank you so much from myself, my DH and LITC-let for the baby gifts. My husband likes the outfit so much he wants it to be the "coming home from the hospital" outfit for the little one! I am so touched by your generosity. You gals are the best!

Hey LITC: Glad Daddy approves! It was hard to see what the things really look like in such a small pic but I figured you picked it and it was Pooh---how could I go wrong? I do love those Classic Pooh things. I've seen them other places. Isn't it great having those registries to pick from? You know we are as excited as you...well maybe not quite that much...we aren't feeling blah now but you get the idea. You need to have dh post when you go..you know we'll worry! Just a thought---does your hospital put announcement on the net?

Wo0w...I looked up at the moon tonight when I took out the trash. I had seen it on tv but wanted to see it in person. You can see Jupitor beside the moon...really neat!
