It is getting quite a bit cooler here also. I used to be the biggest freeze baby, until I got pregnant. And as of yet I still seem to have the higher body temperature, I haven't quite lost it yet.

It must have popped up when I posted the last one...sorry for the stupid posts...

LITC---are you going to be able to stay at home with Walter or must you have another job too? I know it's hard in this time for moms to be able to stay at home.

LITC, I really like Walter too. It is classic and to me it gives off a vibe of someone who is reliable and steadfast. Very much someone that you can count on in your time of need.

M&N, being able to decipher their little noises is so neat. And when they get a little older, you get to translate their gibberish. It, for me, created this kind of secret bond with my kids.

Thank you. Right after he was born and they asked us Well whats his name? And we said Walter Frank they all said how much they liked it, my dr said it sounded so distinguished!! It was just the right name for our little boy!

That sounds amazing-I'm really looking forward to that!

M&N-I'm not sure yet. I really don't want to go back to work. I will stay at the cateror for the weekends, its pretty good money and very flexible. As far as my other full time job-my husband is in the process of changing positions within his company and he will be making less money, but he will be home more so I am waiting to find out all the details on the new position before I know whether or not I can stay home.

No one here to talk NASCAR but I came in 15th last week. My total for the year is 28 I think. My problem is I pick more on who I want to win rather than who will probably win. Like I just cannot pick Racer's #18. I'm posting for her and she's doing good. This week she was smart and didn't pick him and came in 6th!

I was going to get a part time job when I retired. I started being a sub but only for librarians and they are not sick that much! I was debating getting a job in retail...it's really the only other kind of job I know. But when you factor the cost of gas to get there, I wasn't sure it was worth it. We only have a Kmart and a few stores in my town. But with everything else going up, I'm going to start cutting into my savings. I need some things done in my house with that and no way to replenish the savings.

I used to follow NASCAR more closely, even went to a race 3 or 4 years ago, but for some reason as life would have it I just kind of lost track of it. Plus all that stuff happened with JR and his step mom and it really kind of angered me.

Well, I have been working two jobs for 10 years and I feel like now should be my opportunity to stay home, but unfortunately the stupid economy isn't helping my situation.

I totally agree with the stepmom deal with Jr. I just cannot believe how she treated him. I think the guy had a lot on him at an early age and when he lost his father, it was hard on him...feeling like he had a name to live up to. I think he may have felt that some when his dad was alive but Sr was there to keep him grounded. Racing really isn't the same as it was. I've been to Dover several times.

LITC, I quit my job when I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I had taken a leave of absence first to stay home with my stepson during the summer. Found out I was pregnant again and we decided that I should be quit to be home for my stepson and older daughter. That was in 2000. I haven't worked since. It's been wonderful and very hard. We gave up a lot, any sort of vacation for 6 years, so I could be home. I loved it and still do. I wouldn't change a thing. But it was definitely harder than I thought it would be. I hope you find the perfect balance for your family.

M&N, I catch the Nascar race when I am visiting my dad or brother. I don't get it too much....just seems like a bunch of cars going in circles to me.

Well JO, You about summed it up--going around in circles! Except fpr the 2 road races. I guess you could say football is just 2 teams throwing a ball back and forth too! I think some races are boring. When I went to Dover, I think I would have preferred to watch the race at home. It was loud and hard to follow your favorites. To enjoy the races, I think you need to get to know the drivers by watching the shows that come on before the race. You get favorites and those you want to boo! I don't enjoy the Phillies much anymore because I don't know the players.

Agreed. I think he handles himself very well, and I remember the interview he gave right outside the hospital just after his dad had passed and how incredibly he handled himself. I think she has really shown her true colors now that Sr if gone and I don't like her much at all.

JOCA--that is awesome. We are both willing to give stuff up, maybe me more than my DH since I am not a guy that needs the latest gadget all the time! And I won't give up my part time job, it is easy, comfortable, and I think it will do me good to get out of the house sometimes. But the atmosphere at my full time job is depressing and just downright yucky. I would miss allot of coworkers but I would not miss the job at all.

Hopefully the economy will improve. My house payment went up 70 this year because of taxes and insurance. When I bought my house in 2000 they said I could afford a larger loan but I didn't want to go that large. I'm so glad I didn't.

A friend of mine just did that same thing, went less than what they said she could afford and is already struggling just a few months later. For us I think it is great that we are still in an apartment. It really works for us. Plus he works such crazy hours I have been able to live in really safe neighborhoods. Well Walter is starting to cry I have to run. It was great talking with you both!

I remember reading about Dale Earnhardt Sr. passing away. I didn't know much about him but from reading all the coverage, he was a racer's racer. Very old school. My dad likes his son. I know that much. LOL.

LITC, we never got a computer until 4 (?) years ago. It was one of the things we gave up as a necessity. We also had basic cable and phone service. We would just have to save up longer for things that we really wanted. It made us see what our priorities as a family really were. And it honestly was worth it in the long run. It can be done if you are both on the same page.

My parents bought a house when I graduated from college in 1972. I lived at home for college too. They both worked in retail...not a lot of money in that. Mom went to work when I went to middle school. She could not stand to be at home with nothing to do. She still cannot just sit and watch tv...has to have a puzzle or something to do. I lived at home and saved money to travel for 6 years until I rented a small house with a friend. Renting saves you a lot of responsibility and extra expense like plumbers.

Dale Sr didn't take anything from anyone on that track and I think they all admired him. Now you cannot bump anyone without whinning! Really, there are ways to bump and not wreck but that isn't done anymore. They complain if the cars don't move over and let them pass. I forget who said that they had the faster car but couldn't get past the car in front of them. I said I guess their car wasn't fast enough then! The fastest car doesn't always win!

M&N, we are just leasing our house for now. It's one of those lease to own deals. But honestly sometimes, I feel like we are so behind everyone in the home ownership deal. I read on here about people who have their houses paid off by the time they are our age. It's nice to hear that some people don't think home ownership is the be all end all of American life.

From what I read about Dale Earnhardt Sr., he was very much respected on the track. And a kind of spokesman for Nascar? When I do happen to catch part of a race, it seems very commercialized to me.

I totally agree JO...it's all about money. Even the other sports I think. It used to be a player would be with a team his entire career. Now, it's move to the team who can pay the most...which is way too much as far as I am concerned! I'll step off soapbox now and get to bed!
