D&D, I think Pikester drives but she doesn't like to drive on highways. So when she is on vacation, her DH drives.

I don't drive....at all. I don't have a license. I'm insanely scared to drive. It's a completely irrational phobia that I think was caused by being in too many car accidents as a kid.

I do a lot of planning to get around the not being able to drive thing. I also have family who is very understanding about all this. For us, it's just how it is.

I had no idea.
My mom was just like that when I was younger. She was deathly afraid to drive. Then when my sis and I got our license we convinced her to take some private driving school lessons and they were great with her. Helped her get over her fear and she passed her test. Til this day though she still won't drive on the highway but at least she can get around now that dad is gone.

Did you get my emails today?

Had to look over what I wrote down but I emailed ya back. Things are looking good. :thumbsup2

My mom didn't get her license until she was 40 and her mom never drove. I think about it, really I do, but I just have such a hard time seeing myself driving. And then I see all those idiot drivers out there and my panic mode just sky rockets.

I'd love to be able to drive. Maybe not highways but just to get around town. I should look if there is anyone offering private lessons around here.

Good morning!

D&D, Jo is right. I do drive but I don't like driving on the Interstate or in areas I'm not familiar with. I have a little phobia about that I guess. It does suck sometimes because there are lots of places that I could have taken the kids to over the years but due to the distance haven't.

Both of my grandmothers didn't drive for a long time. My Nana got her license in her 40s I think and my Beana never had one. I never did ask (if I did I don't remember) why she never drove. I know Nana didn't drive just because for a long time they could't afford a car. When they could, that was when she got her license.

Have a good day!

Good morning!

Well, my parents are heading to the Phils in the next couple of weeks (Mom next week, Dad the week after), so my family is in a full state of panic and packing! We're nervous about the snow that supposed to come in...the drive to JFK is over 2 hours each way. If I have to, I'll stay with my sister at her apartment in the city, but that leaves the animals alone at night. Ugh.

But I do think we're packed and ready. Ran to the mall last night to get some last minutes stuff. I don't know what's going on, but according to the stores, its already spring!

I love to drive, and I'll drive to the Ghost tour. I have a Santa Fe, so I can fit five in mine. And I have Mr. Darcy, so I have faith we'll get where we need to go. I did get into a car accident a few months after I got my license during my senior year. My Dad forced me to drive again, since I was heading to college in the fall and there was no way they'd be able to drive me back and forth.

And since, I haven't stopped driving! I've driven all over the country...down to Florida, over to Memphis, Chicago, north to Toronto and Montreal, east to Cape Cod. I've even driven in France and Germany (although I don't think I was supposed to legally...)

whgrn So glad to hear your dad is feeling better. :goodvibes

My mom didn't get her license until her 40's either. I resumed driving after my accident. Since I don't remember it I guess I don't think of it. Of course I always assume every other driver out there can't drive. ;)

Don't know if my DH wants to go on the tour. I don't care, I want to go. We'll have our pick up. It can hold 5 but the 3 in back had better be very small. :crowded: (really just need short legs)

I know when I was in school, I carried all kinds of medicines in my purse. Tylenol, cold pills, Midol, etc. Nobody questioned anything. I just find it so odd that we are suppose to be preparing kids to be adults and make good decisions and yet the schools won't even let kids have cough drops.

I carried some of that stuff too. I think the rules changed once it became common for kids to get precription meds for just about anything and started sharing with friends.

We have the same rules here. I understand the meds (prescription and OTC) since kids like to share, etc. But COUGH DROPS??? Puhleeeze! that's just crazy. I, too, carried everything around with me in school. I ALWAYS had Tylenol, Motrin, and anything else I needed. Even allergy pills and antibiotics. Of course, it never occurred to me to share with a friend. I guess today when everyone is so suit-happy, you have to CYA.

I can't imagine not driving. When I've had to not drive for a period of time after surgery, it always makes me nuts. I need my independence! Plus I love to drive. I've driven all over the country, and also in Scotland this past summer. Never had a problem. I did have one accident in 1986, but totally not my fault (altho I did total my car). I am a very careful driver, but I do have a bit of a lead foot--got that from dear ol' Dad!:lmao:

Going over to check out that thread now...

O. M. G. I just checked out that thread! That has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard of! One of the last posters said it would be funny if she went in to the office dressed in wizard costume. :lmao: So I posted "I DOUBLE DOG DARE you!":rotfl2:

Way to go whgrn! Have you started something???:rotfl2:

Evening ladies...I see no one took me up on my offer to drive....what, you afraid of a New York driver??? (just kidding)

Its going to be a great night for Olympics....so excited! I have my popcorn ready...

I had a vivid dream last night that involved Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame. While not a bad looking boy, he is way too young for me! And he was STILL a vampire in my dream, but not the scary kind. I don't usually remember my dreams, so remember this one so clearly really is remarkable.

D&D....that was way too much for toilet paper! Ack! I'm a stocker-upper...I haven't run out of paper towels or toilet paper ever. My local paper's coupons always has a coupon for a free single roll of toilet paper, which I always use.

I just came back from the grocers. I looked like the cranky cat lady with all my coupons and cat food. I don't care though...I just put some headphones in and do my business! I may look silly dancing down the aisles, but I'm saving money AND getting a workout!

Hi D&D! I never told you that I love your ticker by calling it "seduced by free dining".

The Olympic commercials almost always has a promo for the Harry Potter park in Universal. I want to go!

You go girl!!! Don't care what others think of me when I'm using my coupons. Usually I am a better shopper than I was this week. The worst part was, even though I paid so much for TP, it was still cheaper (per roll) to buy that 24pk than other types. :sad2:

Thanks Kitty!

I agree - Let's go to Universal:yay:!!!!

I always read those threads with "I'm too embarrassed to use coupons" or "how do you save money with them?" and I'm like, girl, sit down! I always get about half off my grocery bills using coupons. And on the occassion, I do buy crap, but in general, its the stockable stuff like toiletries and cleaning items that keep me going. And frozen goods. With the weather being so unpredictable, with my frozen veggies I'm sure to get some nutrition somewhere!

I really want to go to Universal. I got a promo to stay at the Hard Rock for $104/night and that sounds really good. I've been trying to guilt BF into considering a trip, but he's been unusually stubborn lately.

I've been saving all my rebate/survey money and am determinged to pay for my next trip with that. It may take a while, but I'm a few hundred dollars in already!

Maybe you could convince him by...say, AUG??? ;)

You know, I'm not above travelling without him...but I'd like it if he did come around. Let's see how my budget is doing in the next few months...woo-hoo!

MK, you know my TA told me that they are almost positive that they will be doing free dining again....starting with the week D&D and I will be there. :rolleyes1

But I will tell you, Hard Rock is beautiful. And 104 is a outstanding rate. I thought we had a great deal when we stayed but that totally beats it.

Since, I don't drive, I have no say in who does. It might be a good idea for you to drive me and Pikester since we are all at the same place. I think Gina said her whole family might go so they can drive themselves. And maybe since DL55 and M&N are "offsite" they can meet up and drive together.

Wendy, you be careful out there on the community board....bad things happen out there. :rotfl2:

I'll ride with you Magi.

hey Pike, how'd you get that pic of me? Are you spying on me in the car?

You should be forewarned: if you have any aversion to pink or Hello Kitty you should not be riding with me. I do have my Sirius radio programmed to the 80's channel though!

JOCA...since I remembered that I have a one day ticket to Disney already, I've been fantasizing about another free dining trip. I also still haven't eaten at Le Cellier and I want to eat at the Wave and Sanaa still...

Those are so cute! I love listening to Nina Blackwood and Martha Quinn...brings back the old days when MTV actually played music videos!
