I decided to go classy for tonight's festivities: fruit, cheese, crackers, and sparkling cider. And big hair.

Thanks everyone for saving me. I was really getting very worried!

Walter is in a mommy mood today. Only mommy will do. While VERY flattering my back is killing me!!! Any TK Aunties wanna swing by and hold him??

Well we're off to do some floor, paint, door, and light shopping. I would say this is almost like Christmas where you get a check and get to go buy stuff. However this summer has been anything but fun. And, the insurance check is rather small when you actually go price the true cost of stuff so we end up having to put more money towards the item we want.

Wish us luck.

Do you have replacement value? You should check your policy.

Do you guys have a "Habitat" store? It is a store that sells used building supplies and the proceeds go to habitat for humanity. That might be a good bet to save some $$. The ones around here sell good quality items.

I have read more and more about people using the Habitat stores, not all things are used. I read someone picked up a Koelher facet new that retailed for almost $500, for something like $50. Someone else who had a old home and picked up a claw foot tub for next to nothing in perfect condition.

Ugh accidents. I HATE driving. It really scares me. If I could be a SAHM who rarely had to venture out, I'd be a much happier, calmer person. I have been rear ended twice and I have SO many back problems which got much worse after I carried Walter. I sleep with a heating pad on my back pretty much every night.

On a brighter note, I found a bottle of lime green naile polish at Walmart today for $2, I plan on doing my toe nails, and possibly my nails (I rarely do them because they get so chipped at work) for Walters party.

:dance3: go for it and at least your toes shouldn't chip. Sounds like fun. At my age I never thought I would get into 'those colors' but they are fun especially in the summer and on the toes.

We found some outside lights that we like and ordered a new countertop for our center island. Boy, trying to stay in the amt. the insurance gave us it tough. See so many things I like and of course, they're the most expensive. Never fails.

We brought home some samples of flooring to see what works. We had hardwood floors in our kitchen so I'd like to stay with that cuz it looks so nice. The downside is that it is not very practical. I laughed when the sales person told us to keep all water/moisture off the floor. I said, "Do you realize I have 2 boys and this is going in a KITCHEN?"

My house is about 100 yrs old so I have hardwood throughout and in the kitchen. Funny thing is now you always hear they don't make things like they use to and it is probably true, but if these floors survived all these yrs. I'm not worried about moisture, they are fine.

DL...its fine with me if you post the pics! I need to do that too!

Haven't been to a good book sale in a while, but I would love to! My reading list depends on my mood. Been known to get lost in a little smut too! Just finished a book last night, and tonight I"m going to fantasize in my Disney Passporter!

I went to Home Depot this afternoon and was using the self-checkout for my two items. The associate there was absolutely monstrously obnoxious. I went to the first machine, which he told me not to use (in a mean way) but there wasn't a sign on it saying it was broken. So I went to another machine. I was getting drill bits, so when I put them in the bag, the machine kept asking for me to put it in the area. Finally the assoicate pressed whatever button he had to and he could tell I was getting pissed. He started to talk to me and I told him that I found his manner of speaking very aggressive and unnecessary and to not to speak to me like that. I was nearly in tears by the time I got to the car. He was so mean and scary!

I just wrote a hate letter to Home Depot. I feel better.

I actually have hardwood in my kitchen. and yes, its a PITA! But I live in an old house and the floors weren't exactly level, so we went with a poplar that could bend with the floor. We have to be careful and I have throw rugs around the stove and the sink.

Don't get me started on home Depot, anyone who wants a job that they get paid to run away from customers and hide or say "I don't Know" please do apply. Though I have found that it varies from store to store. The one ten minutes away they are usually good, the one 5 mins. forget it.

I decided to go classy for tonight's festivities: fruit, cheese, crackers, and sparkling cider. And big hair.

Your to cute:lovestruc

hey kitty, yes they are even though you can roll a marble from one end of my dining room into my living room:confused3.
Leave Walter alone, lol.

you mean its not just my house? We're totally off kilter here. Its very entertaining for the cats. you just put a ball on the floor and it rolls right into the other room. They think its magic?

:lmao::rotfl2:no you know how it goes..... That's the charm of a old home.

Evening!

My SIL and I decided to pull weeds at my house on Friday. Lucky me got poison. All over. I've spent most of my free time just sitting on my hands so I don't scratch. I haven't had poison for years. I don't know what brought it on this time. Thankfully, disney54us, has been around FB to give me all kinds of tips for dealing with it.

MK, did you get one of your feather boas out for tonight? I think you need to take pictures of you for each big awards ceremony and post them for us.

We haven't been to Home Depot in ages. Lately, Curt's been going to Lowe's since they are closer. Not that they are any smarter there. :lmao:

Morning All,

Off to spend the last few days before school starts with some friends. I'm counting down the days until Wed and it can't come fast enough. :sad2: So far this summer, the kids have been fine. Just your average bickering and such. But these last days have been torture!!!! Like they're making up for being good all summer.

Kitty - Hope you had a good evening watching the Emmys. Remember to post pics of the occasion.

Disney54us - We do have replacement value but somehow their "figures" don't exactly add up to what TRUE replacement cost is. They use some formula which they say is accurate but when I shop around it is hardly the average price.

JO - Hope you are feeling better. Poison can make you so miserable. :guilty:

Have a great day everyone. Will try to check in tonight if DH isn't working on the computer.

Good afternoon ladies!

Oh no JO! Hope you're feeling much less itchy! Wear mittens to stop you from scratching...

D...hope you can find some good deals on house stuff!

Another gorgeous day here. Can't believe August is already over and its back to school time already.

Didn't get too gussied up for the awards last night. DId have some sparlkly stuff in my hair. Overall, I thought it was a good show. Lots of my faves won! And it ended on time, which is remarkable.

All summer I've been participating in a rewards program where you go to a website and log in and click on these thingys to earn points to exchange for rewards. I finally made it to level three today and was able to cash in for some awesome boots! Actually, I only qualify for the gift certificate that I can exchange for the boots through the company, but I'm so excited. I've been plotting for this for months now. Victory is mine!

JOCAmom I'm assuming you are referring to poison ivy and not real poison. :scared1: Hope the itching goes away quickly. :flower3:

D&DDisney Apparently insurance companies live in Fantasyland :rotfl2: Good luck in finding suitable replacements.

MagiKitty has done it again..now new boots. :thumbsup2

Weather has been great, only in the 80s. :)

Ok, I need to gloat a little bit. I know its not very becoming, but just put up with me please.

First, it was the free cowboy boots. In my mail, a postcard from my local racino for a free land pho ne. $10 free for Victoria's Secret. And my two free $10 gc to Panera. And another promo for a casino in Kansas---$7 in free play, $10 in food and a FREE NIGHT AT THE HOTEL! And its good for when we're there in a few weeks! Woo-hoo! Doing the happy dance! Doing the happy dance!

Sure why not? That could be his Halloween costume!!

I had poison ivy a few years ago, and I went to the doc and he gave me a shot to clear it up.

Hello Ladies!!!! I have found the most wonderful home remedy for my poison. It's a paste of baking soda and and water. You put it on the blisters and it takes all the itching away and helps to dry it out. And this may be TMI but even when some of the blisters have popped, the paste has absorbed the stuff from the blisters. The only bad thing is I look like a total freak with big, white clumpy spots all over my arms and legs. And as the paste dries and flakes away, it looks like my skin is snowing. :lmao:

We are having that big picnic on Saturday. It looks like my dad won't come with some stupid excuse. But Curt's dad called him tonight to ask for our address. I'm happy for him since he hasn't seen his dad in years. And he also got to talk to his oldest friend that moved away 10 years ago. It was a very good day for him.

And BTW, the inlaws still drive me crazy.

MK, I just 2 $5.00 e-certificates to amazon through a reward program. Not as great as your reward but it's $10 less I have to spend for a Kindle.

Hope you have fun and relax seeing friends.

:cool1:great sounds like a good remedy. Really I know whatever takes away the itch!
What picnic was this suppose to be a combined fam picnic? Well hope that helps Curt and makes him happy.
Why oh why would they be driving you crazy. Need to give them a date, enough time for them to find a place but enough is enough.

When I click on my user CP it just goes to a blue/turquise screen??????????
I think the boards are funky tonight.

JO...I'm happy for DH too! Sorry your Dad isn't going to make it. I'm sorry for him not being able to spend time with your and your wonderful family. and congrats on the Amazon credits! Good day all around!

congrats on finding a really good itch remedy! I'll have to write that one down....

I'm kinda scared to check my user CP disney54us...I always get freaked out when technology does weird stuff like that. HOpe it fixes itself!

The boards are always crazy.

We are having a big picnic on Saturday....about 30 people. Friends, family, some of Curt's co-workers. I doubt either one of my parents will make it. But my brother and his family will be here along with my Aunt and Uncle. Some of Curt's BIL's friends are old friends of mine since before I even knew Curt. WE all get along great so I'll still have a great time.

And Sunday, I might be meeting up with another Aunt I haven't seen in years. Stuff happened between her and my dad and we just drifted away from each other. But we caught up again and are going to see each other and see what happens. Time to stop letting other family run my life.

Can you tell there's a lot of drama in my family. :headache::headache:

JO that's going to be so much fun and so wonderful to see people from your past. How funny that you and Curt have some friends in common but from different parts of your life!

ah, family. What can you do? Just smile and talk about them behind their backs....
