Well we're off to do some floor, paint, door, and light shopping. I would say this is almost like Christmas where you get a check and get to go buy stuff. However this summer has been anything but fun. And, the insurance check is rather small when you actually go price the true cost of stuff so we end up having to put more money towards the item we want.
Wish us luck.
Do you guys have a "Habitat" store? It is a store that sells used building supplies and the proceeds go to habitat for humanity. That might be a good bet to save some $$. The ones around here sell good quality items.
Ugh accidents. I HATE driving. It really scares me. If I could be a SAHM who rarely had to venture out, I'd be a much happier, calmer person. I have been rear ended twice and I have SO many back problems which got much worse after I carried Walter. I sleep with a heating pad on my back pretty much every night.
On a brighter note, I found a bottle of lime green naile polish at Walmart today for $2, I plan on doing my toe nails, and possibly my nails (I rarely do them because they get so chipped at work) for Walters party.
go for it and at least your toes shouldn't chip. Sounds like fun. At my age I never thought I would get into 'those colors' but they are fun especially in the summer and on the toes.We found some outside lights that we like and ordered a new countertop for our center island. Boy, trying to stay in the amt. the insurance gave us it tough. See so many things I like and of course, they're the most expensive.Never fails.
We brought home some samples of flooring to see what works. We had hardwood floors in our kitchen so I'd like to stay with that cuz it looks so nice. The downside is that it is not very practical. I laughed when the sales person told us to keep all water/moisture off the floor. I said, "Do you realize I have 2 boys and this is going in a KITCHEN?"
DL...its fine with me if you post the pics! I need to do that too!
Haven't been to a good book sale in a while, but I would love to! My reading list depends on my mood. Been known to get lost in a little smut too! Just finished a book last night, and tonight I"m going to fantasize in my Disney Passporter!
I went to Home Depot this afternoon and was using the self-checkout for my two items. The associate there was absolutely monstrously obnoxious. I went to the first machine, which he told me not to use (in a mean way) but there wasn't a sign on it saying it was broken. So I went to another machine. I was getting drill bits, so when I put them in the bag, the machine kept asking for me to put it in the area. Finally the assoicate pressed whatever button he had to and he could tell I was getting pissed. He started to talk to me and I told him that I found his manner of speaking very aggressive and unnecessary and to not to speak to me like that. I was nearly in tears by the time I got to the car. He was so mean and scary!
I just wrote a hate letter to Home Depot. I feel better.
I actually have hardwood in my kitchen. and yes, its a PITA! But I live in an old house and the floors weren't exactly level, so we went with a poplar that could bend with the floor. We have to be careful and I have throw rugs around the stove and the sink.
I decided to go classy for tonight's festivities: fruit, cheese, crackers, and sparkling cider. And big hair.

disney54us....I have some of those old oak wood floors too. They certainly are made to last!
LITC! Could I dress Walter up in yellow and pretend he's my Emmy award?
.you mean its not just my house? We're totally off kilter here. Its very entertaining for the cats. you just put a ball on the floor and it rolls right into the other room. They think its magic?

no you know how it goes..... That's the charm of a old home.
So far this summer, the kids have been fine. Just your average bickering and such. But these last days have been torture!!!! Like they're making up for being good all summer.
They use some formula which they say is accurate but when I shop around it is hardly the average price.
Hope the itching goes away quickly.
Good luck in finding suitable replacements.

Evening!
My SIL and I decided to pull weeds at my house on Friday. Lucky me got poison. All over. I've spent most of my free time just sitting on my hands so I don't scratch. I haven't had poison for years. I don't know what brought it on this time. Thankfully, disney54us, has been around FB to give me all kinds of tips for dealing with it.
MK, did you get one of your feather boas out for tonight? I think you need to take pictures of you for each big awards ceremony and post them for us.
We haven't been to Home Depot in ages. Lately, Curt's been going to Lowe's since they are closer. Not that they are any smarter there.![]()

Morning All,
Off to spend the last few days before school starts with some friends. I'm counting down the days until Wed and it can't come fast enough. So far this summer, the kids have been fine. Just your average bickering and such. But these last days have been torture!!!! Like they're making up for being good all summer.
Kitty - Hope you had a good evening watching the Emmys. Remember to post pics of the occasion.
Disney54us - We do have replacement value but somehow their "figures" don't exactly add up to what TRUE replacement cost is.They use some formula which they say is accurate but when I shop around it is hardly the average price.
JO - Hope you are feeling better. Poison can make you so miserable.
Have a great day everyone. Will try to check in tonight if DH isn't working on the computer.
insurance companies. Hello Ladies!!!! I have found the most wonderful home remedy for my poison. It's a paste of baking soda and and water. You put it on the blisters and it takes all the itching away and helps to dry it out. And this may be TMI but even when some of the blisters have popped, the paste has absorbed the stuff from the blisters. The only bad thing is I look like a total freak with big, white clumpy spots all over my arms and legs. And as the paste dries and flakes away, it looks like my skin is snowing.
We are having that big picnic on Saturday. It looks like my dad won't come with some stupid excuse. But Curt's dad called him tonight to ask for our address. I'm happy for him since he hasn't seen his dad in years. And he also got to talk to his oldest friend that moved away 10 years ago. It was a very good day for him.
And BTW, the inlaws still drive me crazy.
MK, I just 2 $5.00 e-certificates to amazon through a reward program. Not as great as your reward but it's $10 less I have to spend for a Kindle.

great sounds like a good remedy. Really I know whatever takes away the itch!
