Tipping

I just read a thread on valet parking where the first guy said he tipped $5. Is that the only tip, or every time you get your car? On a recent business trip, we tipped for every handling (dropping off and picking up) of the car, which added up big time over a long stay, but it is like with housekeeping, I felt that leaving one big tip for one person means everyone else who provided service during the stay isn't getting their share. I suppose they are supposed to share tips, but it doesn't seem to me that it would all work out equally. Any thoughts, folks? How much do you tip for valet, housekeeping and bell service, and how (in one lump sum or piecemeal throughout your stay)? I even just read an article on cruise tipping that said half the people tipped beforehand, so I guess I could also add the question, when do you tip for various services?

Cheers :)

1) The accepted practice is to tip valet parking at pickup.
2) Typical valet tips is $2-$4, but I would say $2 at DVC.
3) Bell service is usually $1 per bag, each time iot is handled.
4) Pay immediately following the service.

We usually tip housekeeping at OKW on trash & towel (or whatever it is called :) ) day & again at the end. I know members debate whether they need to tip housekeeping or not, but we do.

We tip for valet parking both when we drop off the vehicle & when we pick it up. We don't always get the same CM, & CMs do work in both directions. Side note - if you have handicapped tags, then valet parking is complimentary.
