"Standard" tipping for a buffet meal is around 10% of the check. However, the WDW staff seem, IMHO, to kick service up a notch by constantly clearing used dishes, refilling soft drinks, taking group pictures, etc.
In that case 15% or more would not be out of line. This is the same for character buffets.
I would agree with Steve. The CMs work very hard and do everything a waitperson in a regular restaurant does, except bring you your food, so 15% is what we usually leave.

You obviously didn't get the same CM I had last August for lunch at Crystal Palace. We asked 3 times for soda refills and never got them. We spent her tip at the vendor cart at the hub on bottles of soda for the whole family
But, in general I agree with DVC California - they are great and I typically tip 15%.
We have a large party for our trip. First week is 9 people and 2 week is 11. I made many ps and only when I made ps at Ohana did they state tip added to parties of 8 or more. Does anyone know what the tip % is they add in? I budgeted 20% but was just wondering.
