Tip to make leaving slightly less painful.

Here's something I always do to make leaving WDW slightly (only slightly, I admit) less painful. Before leaving, I buy something special and really "Disney" to eat on the plane. One time it was the Mickey head shaped rice Krispy treats, once a peach tart from the French bakery, you get the idea. And especially if you fly-they don't feed you now so what a way to bring your own!

It also helps to have your next return trip in the plans

I always tell my family "Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened."

I totally agree...my wife on the other hand doesn't want to talk about a next trip till its about time to make P.S. reservations, so its very hard to get her to commit to two trips at once.

Beautiful! this thread has given me a new way to make our trip more magic. When the guys are out I think I will pop over to whatever resort we're thinking of for our next trip & pick up some info, take a pic of the lobby? will also buy a few little things to give DH & DS on the plane-
We like to do a parting ritual--Spaceship Earth last ride; POTC last MK ride

Thanks & looking forward to more on this thread!

Well said! :grouphug:

We just feel so blessed to be able to go and enjoy the 8 days at WDW.

Now we are at home and watch the video tape daily and planning for our Christmas vacaton only 200 days left.

I think it's important to have a last day or park tradition. We always stay late at MK on our last night and when the crowds have sleared, stand together in an embrace, looking at the castle and reflecting on how lucky we are to be back and how we can't wait to make more memories.

Oh...might not all like this one....I fill up a water bottle with FL tap water....when I bring it home, the smell instantly reminds me of FL!!!!

By the end of each trip, I make sure I've taken 4-5 crowd shots where one or more of the family is in them, but hard to see. Kinda like a "where's Waldo" thing. Then once they are developed, we all try to see where the DH, DS, or DD is. My nieces and nephews love to play too  and it certainly extends the memories.
We are sad to leave but know we'll be back..... :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I do the same thing!
Its such a thrill to bring some pastry from Norway home.

See the disney themed container open on my kitchen shelf to reveal an almond kringle. Mmm soo good.

I brought home a rice crispy treat last time too. Its such a nice treat.
Try to grab a container or two of the mints too, a nice little treat to keep in your purse. Always brought a smile to my face to see a mickey/pluto shaped mint smiling back....lol

Wow....That is such a good idea. Making the memories is what's really important.

I just keep reminding myself ( & my family) how blessed we are to even be there. Many families cannot afford the trips we take or are separated because of many circumstances. Once we stop with the "woe is me" attitude it makes it easier.

Thanks for that nice quote, I'm going to put that in a scrapbook of mine! :)

on the day we had to leave we stopped buy the gift shop and bought one of the big mickey candy bars and put it in the freezer we will bring it out on our 1 year home from disney . that way my husband will also be reminded of the trip so he will want to go again.

He is not a big disney fan :sad2: :sad2:

When I was little I bawled when we left. I have pictures of me holding my mickey doll, watching the parade with tears on my face :(. This year i didn't cry since I was EXHAUSTED after 4 long days at the park from 7am-12pm non-stop, and honestly I don't think I could do another day at the park after that! I had a great trip :) I always think, "We'll come back soon" (even if its not true!) which helps ease the sadness.

Last year I picked up some things from the gift shop and used them as stocking stuffers. Animal cookies, deck of cards, candy bars, key chain etc. Then at Christmas it made us think of our trip and helped us to decide to go again this year at Christmas.

This is such a great thing to do and to help others who need ideas; leaving WDW always makes me cry and I'm glad to see I'm not alone ..... thank God for the rice krispie MM!!! And don't forget to take extra napkins, it's great to see them in the kitchen and lunch bag...... ::MickeyMo
