This is my first post on the DiS boards so sorry if i do anything wrong. ;)

If you decide to send down your package before arriving, and you ship through UPS, use your own box!!

I am visiting in about a week and waited to ship a few suprise things down so the box was only 12"-12"-12". They told me that it would only be about $2.00 for one of their boxes. Well, when I was begining run up the box was $5.50!!! I could have went and bought my own tape and everything.

Now I am regretting not doing it because I would have rather done it myself anyway. :sad2:

I paid 12 for a box at UPS!!! Never again!

I just paid $12.18 to mail a Christmas tree to my resort. The tree cost me $10.00 at Wal mart. :guilty:

Yeah, I don't think I'll be shipping anything done beforehand again.

I won't see how well they did until I arrive on Sunday, but I have a feeling it WON'T be good.

I always send down a box beforehand.....food staples that I've bought at home during B1G1 sales....usually weighs in at about 20-25 lbs.....last trip in October I used FedEx for the first time ...cost was a little over $9.00. UPS rates for the same box was about $13.00. Previously I've always used UPS, but, as long as FedEx comes in at less I'll be using them from now on. Both shipping facilities are about the same distance from my house in opposite directions so that makes it even easier. I usually have my box packed with about $50.00 worth of groceries so it's defnitely worth not having to go buy those in Orlando.

Through the Post office, and it cost about 8.00 to send, but I used my own box and tape. I did it 3 day and it got there on time. :thumbsup2

I'm curious about this. How do they hold your box? What information do you put on the box to make sure it gets to you. We don't have a room number yet.

I plan on doing this on our next trip and definitely will when we do our family trip.. The $9-$13 will be worth not having to buy these items there..

You can get a box anywhere. You don't have to use the ones at UPS. If you have a UHaul facility near you try there for boxes. They are really cheap there. Also, I like to pack and tape up the box myself so I have my own at home. We have shipped many times always using UPS and it has been well worth it. I also like being able to track it and see it arrived and who signed for it. I pack alot of stuff and it has never cost more than around $10-$15 to ship UPS ground.

You would just put on the box the resort name, "hold for" the name of the person the ressie is under, the resort address, and arrival date. I put the ressie # too, some prefer not to. Either way put the arrival date on there. I put this on all sides of the box along with some stickers to help make my box "stick out" from the others. When you check in it should be waiting at the front desk for you. If not just ask and they'll get it and bring it to your room.

I love shipping boxes. This way we dont have to worry when we get there about buying anything. Also, it helps with the not lugging it onto the airplane. Vacation is Vacation. Why worry about anything. :goodvibes

I only wish I had known about it when we took our dd at 10 months. It sure would have been nice to ship her formula, food, diapers, and wipes instead of lugging them in a carry on... :rotfl:

Never again!!!!

I put on the reservation date and the check in date.

It actually worked out better than I thought. It was so nice not having to go to the gift shop whenever we wanted stuff. I would def. do it again.

Also, I switched from CBR to CSR last minute, after I had mailed the box. Disney was great about it and C.S. actually went and picked it up for us. As we were checking it, they brought it out to us.. without even asking about it.

I shipped a box for about $10 last summer. I will do it every time! It was so nice to have some groceries and I even mailed our soap, shampoo, etc.

We used FedEx and the box arrived no problem. The folks at GC "lost" it for a couple of days after they notified us at check-in that it was already there, but that's not FedEx's fault.
