i am wondering if tinkerbell is a real person who flies over during the fireworks at cinderella's castle. i was videotaping the show, and didn't really get a good look at her, my husband said it was a real person, but i don't see how it could be...

also, it is my opinion that the elevator ride at the haunted mansion is done with smoke and mirrors...that you don't really go that high up in to the air, does anyone know about it????

With a title like that I had to come see what it was about! :)

Yes, Tink is a real person flying.

In the Haunted Mansion at WDW the walls move, the floor doesn't. So yes, it is smoke and mirrors. In the HM at DL, you are actually in an elevator.

Yes, Tinkerbell is a real person. Well ... she's a fairy, but a real one. ;)

I'm not giving away the secret to the elevator ... someone else will have to do that! :p

:earsboy:

As said, Tink is a real person. The people who protray Tink are trained aerialists.

Welcome to the DIS!

Tinkerbelle is a real person. That is why on nights of bad weather she won't "fly".

I am not sure about the Elevator in Haunted Mansion. I am assuming you are referring to the room that stretches??? I think the ceiling in this room goes up - you don't acutally move at all. Not sure if this is what you were referring to.

Your all wrong Tinkerbell is a fairy and the room at the Haunted Mansion is really Streaching. Duh' :earboy2:

No,no ,no Tinkerbell is a real fairy, the tooth fairy knows her personally and the floor is moving!!!

thank you for the quick replies! what i was thinking about the elevator at hm at wdw is that they use air to blow on you and jostle you up and down a few feet, but you aren't actually going way up into the tower...is that right?

::MickeyMo You don't go anywhere. The walls stretch upward. If you can actually touch the wall without the CM yelling at you, you'll be able to tell that you're not going anywhere. Why else would they NOT want you to touch the walls? ::MinnieMo

sorry about that, i am talking about the elevator ride in the tower of terror. i don't remember one in the haunted mansion....

Exactly. The HM at Disneyland was built so the floor goes down into the "basement loading area". But, the HM at WDW is already in the basement area. The ceiling goes up. :scared1:

I was wondering if you meant the ToT! :teeth:

You do really go up "that high" because when you are up they open the doors and IF you have your eyes open you can see out over the park.

i know the doors open, but that's what i'm wondering about, are you REALLY looking out through an open area over the park, or is it some kind of projected image that makes you THINK you are looking out over the park????

You are really looking out over the park. :earsboy:

I have heard that the person "flying" overhead as tinkerbell is sometimes a guy. Anyone know if that is true?

Uh..no, It's definitly open.

Tink is, as others have already pointed out, a fairy. And, everyone knows fairies are androgynous, weighing between 98-102. More than that is best left unsaid - after all we are "on stage".

And then when you factor in "Gay Days", the 'Tink' issue gets really complicated....

As for the ToT, take a look sometime when you're in front of the hotel. You can actually see the doors at the top open and see the people in the cage.

ToT - The elevator really takes you up that high. When ToT first oepend, there were no buildings out in front of ToT and when they opened the doors, you looked out over the parking lot. You could look for your car if you weren't afearin for your life! (Maybe it wasn't guest parking, but maintenance lots, but still we always joked about trying to find our car) I have old pictures of when the doors opened and you saw parking lot. Now you see the park and rides and buildings. Believe me...looking out and seeing parking lot made it super real and super scary! Also, in the beginning there was only one real drop. And the ride ended more "inside" the building than it does now. It was super scary back then!

Anyone else remember this?

yes, i remember at first there was just one drop, i've only been to wdw twice since tot was there, i don't like heights so it scares me alot still, i just peek out a little little bit when we're at the top.

i believe all of you, but just go with me with this for a minute...it still seems to me that when they go up each floor, you could be only going up a foot or so. they open the doors and you see something on a screen, and then they close again. then when you're at the top and they open the doors, there could be some kind of mirror thing or projected image of what you would see if you were up that high.

when you're outside, do you see the people where the doors are opening?

i know i really just need to drop this, but it's always made me wonder because of the stuff like honey i shrunk the kids where you feel the mice around your feet! disney sure does some incredible stuff!
