ok - my worry o'the day -

i am sure you all can relate to how there are certain, possibly odd, key things or moments to your "vision". mine is this: i want our officiant to say "you may kiss your bride" or however the final statement of the ceremony will go, i want the recessional music to swell and i am soooo wanting the confetti/streamer cannon to fire off in time with the music and the kiss. photo op!!!

i have this one particular moment so in my mind that i kind of realized i wil probably e fixating on that and probably whomever starts a CD of the song and fires off the cannon probably wont pull it off like a jerry bruckheimer movie and that actually, it doesnt matter - BUT i can see me freaking out over it!!
:scared1:

do you thik they can pull it off? my head knows to let it go, but my stress may not let me!!

Don't get your heart set!!! I did. It devistated me. I thought it was soooo simple yet it didn't happen.

I haven't gotten to this part of my TR yet. BUT

We had a band. I thought the band knew what we wanted, that can't get screwed up. I was wrong the music was a disaster. Thats for another post. I had been playing the recessional song in my car for a year. I knew what I wanted I knew which sections of the song I wanted the singer to sing. I knew everything. I had the most perfect vision that they would say you may kiss the bride - the upbeat music would start we would walk down the isle with smiles beaming at the cameras. All of our guests would toss rose petals at us and when we reached the end of the isle the cannons with rose petals would go off - we would be guaranteed the perfect petal picture.

In reality none of our guests used the toss petals. Asking them about it after the fact they said they didn't know what they were for  But whatever we would still have the cannons and get the photo. Well all of our photos are of me looking back behind us - because the cannons were BEHIND US:mad: They shot petals up over our guests that never came anywhere near us - nothing ever close to the isle.

So in short. I had the most perfect vision in mind - it ruined the day. I must have gone through it a million times. I can't even begin to tell you how many times we went over it with our planner and the florist. It was heart breaking :sad2:. If I hadn't had the vision or really cared about the recessional then I wouldn't have minded when it got completely screwed up.

We had to pay for 5 hours of some A/V guys time - he was the guy who ruined it all (aside from our guests and the petal cones... I don't know what to say about that).

Just don't let your expectations get to be too high. I don't want you to be so incredibly disappointed the way I was.

ag!!!!!! i appreciate your candor - i know what you mean though and i can almost see it happening and me getting tweaked about although it isnt the end of the world and AND I KNOW AHEAD OF TIME THEY WONT BE ABLE TO GET IT RIGHT!!

i will try and talk myself down from it..... but i hear you! its just like whatever the thing is you fixate on, you just get fixated and the real world will never match...

i'm sure i will still be wanitng my "vision", but i am going to remind myslef of this for the next 8 months!!!:confused3

I was *very* worried about this myself, because I'd heard of a bride who'd had an experience where they forgot to play a song in the middle of her ceremony at a specifc moment and then played it instead of the recessional. :sad2:

So, I had them write the exact order of each song and when it was to play into our BEO, I stressed and re-stressed it to our planner, I listed it on the cover of the CD I gave them, and then, on the day of, the sound tech actually came over to me as we were "staging" in Japan and verified how I wanted the music played. It went off PERFECTLY.

That said, our guests also did not know what to do with their toss petals (), but it was not a huge deal—we just paused for a moment while they figured it out (I may or may not have shouted "TOSS them!!!") and then started walking once the petals were in the air. Our videographer edited out the pause and the whole thing is seamless in the wedding video.

I think if you can get them to understand how important something is to you, Disney will make it happen.:thumbsup2

I think Carrie has a good point about one thing - confirming it with the A/V guy. Make sure you do it!. We had a morning wedding and everything felt really rushed. I went down twice in a bathrobe and curlers to the marina to try to talk to people and got shooed away both times. I feel like if I had been able to talk to the guy to confirm everything it would have all been fixed and corrected. I am really kicking myself for not trying harder.

Carrie - it was your petal picture that I loved more than anything - it's the only reason we did petals and cannons because I wanted to be sure I got a picture like yours. :sad1:

The one thing that Carrie said about Disney getting the really really important stuff to happen- I think is false. It may just be me - but I wouldn't rely on it. I am hoping to update my TR in the next week or so once we get past the end of the cruise.

i guess it will just be up to me to think about how "bridezilla" i am WORRIED about appearing, if you get me? i think i will take your advice as far as the following through every where about it, yet try and let that morning mimosa (or 3) let me chill once the ball gets rolling...

the plot thickens!!!! curious to hear your thoughts, i've seen your PJ/TR so far, and not that it makes anything "OK" or less important, but i know you had several different events as part of your wedding extravaganza (which all looked fabulous!!) - in some ways more to possibly go wrong or something? if you know what i mean? but then again, if you just have one "event" it ups the ante on that one thing as well!!

i guess i'm worried too about how much rehearsal we will have? there isnt a huge wedding group to begin with, so if anyone wants to go to the rehearsal they can (have no idea what the rehearsal lunch will be given we've spent all our dough!!! probably carry out pizza at the condo!!) - rehearsal is important to get those details, but i feel like it will "give away" the surprise of the recessional song, the cannon all of that since just about all the wedding guests would probably go to the rehearsal (assuming we are offered one). i want the streamers and our recessional song to be a surprise !

brides are way to hung up on little things. i was all about going with the flow. just chill out and realize that it is not about flower petals, music, or any of that extra costing distracting stuff. YOU ARE IN DISNEY MARRYING THE MAN OF YOUR DREAMS. that is what is most important, the hell with all that stuff, dont let anything ruin your special day with your husband. It is all over so quickly tht it is not worth stressing over, with all the wedding hype it is s easy to lose track of the reason why you are there. Luckily I had a wonderful DH who kept me in line so I'm trying to pass the message on to you now :)

I have a bit of a mantra that I stick to when it comes to this sort of thing. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst!

I don't want to freak you out more than you already are here but even though it's fairly easy to co-ordinate it still doesn't mean it will all come off perfectly. You could have everything set up, everyone briefed and they could all press their respective buttons at the exact precise moment they should but then the confetti canon could misfire. Or the CD that was cued and working perfectly earlier could decide to start skipping. Or the photographer could sneeze and completely miss the the photo op. I know, I know, it sounds scary but I deal with and see these kinds of problems all the time (I work in event production!). I have to plan for these things happening and have back up systems in place (two sound systems, extra confetti cannons etc incase anything fails) but that's not always possible.

As I say, I don't want to freak you out! But just like the weather there are so many things that are beyond your control. So instead of fixating on that one moment focus your energy on the things you can control and go all bridezilla on those instead :thumbsup2.
