We are suppose to close on our resale purchase by 5/20. We are scheduled to go to OKW on June 4th (not using points). We would like to be able to get annual passes at the DVC rate and get the DDE card. Based on your experiences, would this be possible? How and where do you purchase the annual passes and the DDE card?

Thanks.
Lisa :)

That will be cutting it really close. The good news is that most people actually close earlier than what their contract states. That would certainly help you in this case.

Here's the deal. If you get in "the system" before you leave, you CAN get your AP discount and your DDE card. What you do is this...if you get in the system at the last minute, and have not had time for DVC cards to arrive, just swing by the DVC SSR sales center, and explain that you need temporary DVC cards. They can issue them on the spot.

If you close by 5/20, you SHOULD be in the system within two weeks....but, that is about how long it is taking these days. I am a pest, but I would start calling member administration about 3 days after I closed, and explain to them my problem...sometimes they can "rush" getting you into the system.

Good luck...it is tight, but I think it will work!!

One question though, would we then buy the annual passes somewhere on sight? and the DDE onsite?

Thanks.

I'm bumping this because I'm also curious to find out if you can buy the DDE onsite...

You CAN buy the APs on site, but I don't think you can get the DDE card except through the mail. You might want to ask that when you pick up the APs.

You can't get your DDE card on site, but you can call them and give them your DVC number and they will fax a letter stating that you have paid for your DDE and you can show that at the restaurants for your discount. We did this last January and they faxed the letter to the Guest Relations office at MGM and we used it that day for our reservations at PrimeTime Cafe. Good Luck! It is nice to receive that discount on food, drinks and gratuity, but of course now we think we should eat at all the nicer restaurants. Oh well, you only live once. :wave2:

I don't believe they are faxing anymore from recent posts. You can pickup a temporary letter at guest relations outside Epcot.

You need the AP before you can order the DDE, so I guess I don't see how you can do this before you leave.

Here's what we did. We stopped by MK the night we arrived and got our AP's. Then, the next morning we called the number to get our DDE card (it comes in the book with your AP's). Then, after 5pm that day, the letter will be OUTSIDE Epcot at the guest services desk for you to pick up.

It slows you down a bit on getting discounts (we had TWO big sit-down meals before we could get the letter in our hands), but at least it is something.
