I'm looking to book a week for December in Orlando through RCI. A 2-bedroom at HGVC is coming up, but the configuration is 6/6 instead of 8/6. Does anyone know what the difference is? And what the bed situation is? We are a family of 5 so I want to make sure everyone has a place to sleep without having to share beds (my 3 kids, that is!) LOL!

If the layout of the 6/6 doesn't suit us, I'll probably book at either Cypress Pointe or Cypress Pointe Grandvillas - both have 3-bedroom units coming up through RCI........

Help! I'd like to finalize my plans as soon as possible! :)

Thanks!!

(edited because of my spelling!)

there is a king bed in the master,
a queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom,
a queen bed in the second
and a double sleeper sofa in the second.

do your kids object to sleeping on a sleeper sofa?

oh they will love the whirlpool tub - the washer comes out like a rainfall instead of a facust.....very cute....

which HGVC is it....

the one at seaworld or the one on international drive.....

either way you should be able to get a "room layout" at their website

you must have a good trader to be pulling 3 bedrooms...have not seen any 3 bedrooms in our searches for ages

spiceycat - thanks for your response! My boys don't mind sleeping on sofa beds. They'll sleep on the floor before having to sleep with each other!

lawgs - this is the HGVC near Seaworld. The newer one isn't coming up in my search. I actually don't have a great trader - it's an Orlando week (Vistana - May), but I'm looking at 2 weeks before Christmas so it's still slow season. I'm guessing that's why a couple 3-bedrooms are showing up....

I'd take Vistana in a heartbeat if it were showing up with the check-in date that I want. I'm unfamiliar with the other resorts that are showing.

Kimberly,

We stayed at the HGVC in August of 2001 and it was hands down the nicest place at which we have ever stayed. (We are HI, Best Western kind of people, and while at Disney have stayed at the All Stars, Ft. Wilderness Homes, the Courtyard by Marriott DD, and the HGVC). There a DH and me, a 20 yo, 17 yo, 11 yo, and yo dds. We stayed at the 2 bedroom (one of which is a studio lockout). DH and I used the king room, our oldest stayed in the very roomy LR, and the other 3 stayed in the studio.
Everything about the place was wonderful - including the beautiful waterfall pool.
I have not stayed at CP yet (but will in August), but I would think that the only advantage to staying there would be its proximity to WDW.

Good Luck! Let us know what you decide. :)

have seen the new one come up sporadically over the last few months.....on RCI searches.....one the other day for september ( got it with week 52 OLCC but could not pull it with week 51 OLCC )

darn....i even saw it on a ready set go on skyauction ( but it must have been a misplaced entry, since it was there one day and gone the next )

we were at HGVC last november in a 3 bedroom it was a very nice unit....

have you considered Vacation Village at Parkway ( Gold Crown ) it is a nice quiet resort too and the units are ample if you get a two bedroom

just checked the bonus weeks RCI has been mentioning in red when you login.....

they have a 8/8 with full kitchen at vacation village for both 12/10 04 and 12/11/04 check in dates for 346.49 listed ( special promotion no need to use an exchange week to get it )

you could save your exchange week for something else as long as it did not need to be used right away and since you would be paying 139$ to exchange it is only 200$ more and no need to give up an exchange week

they are located on 192 just across from entrance to celebration and close to i-4 ( matter of fact if you have ever seen arabian nights location they are right across the street from it )

just an additional side note .....our weeks 51 and 52 are pullin sheraton vistana for 12/10/04 8/6 and also sheraton vistana villages 12/10/04 for 8/6 ( still do not understand how RCI works sometimes ) you should be able to pull something for vistana for that time line too , of course i do not know what your preferred date was ....just that it was two weeks before christmas

for seaworld we are seeing 8/6 and 6/6 for 12/10/04 12/11/04 and 12/12/04 with week 51

Our check-in date is 12/11 - we are not flexible with that. I will check into Vacation Village at Parkway also. That is coming up to in my search, but haven't heard much about it either on here or on TUG.....

Thanks for your help. I'm hoping to make a decision before the weekend is up....

we were there in january in a one bedroom, accomodations were A1

our brother in laws were also there a couple of years ago ( golf trip ) they really were impressed with it

it is a Gold Crown designation and deserves it

the Cypress resorts are Sunterra and designated Resorts of International Distinction ( one lower than GC ) but do not know if it is because sunterra and RCI are falling out or not.....case in point the powhatan plantation in williamsburg which is now owned by sunterra has lost it GC and RID designations, but we still think it is a nice resort with more than adequate accomodations

you should really consider the "bonus week" rentals for Vacation Village if you can keep your "week" in the bank for another exchange later

you might even get a better deal on a week at Vacation Village through ready set go auctions at skyauction.com

they have Vacation Village 8/8 showing up for dec 11/04 checkin date...if you do not know how skyauction.com works.....you start out at 210$ ( 195 service fee and 15$ processing fee ) then add to that whatever you bid ....Ready set go auctions seem to go in the 50$ range lately

even before you start bidding you can go into "click here to see what is ...." and search for florida central for december and then when you search all the available ready set go places in florida will come up ......

you then choose available dates for Vacation Village and if your date is there you can have them "hold" that week for your Auction...( not tonight though as the database is down for updates since it is connected to the RCI site )

the final line with skyauction you can get the same thing as a bonus week from RCI for about 250 - 260$ ( a savings of 90$ - 100$ )

if you win the auction you get a "RCI exchange" voucher the same as if you had dealt with RCI, only it comes as an email attachment

good luck with your decision.....

We stayed at HGVC Seaworld in a 3 bedroom (with a studio lockoff). The 2 bedroom section had a HUGE master suite with king, whirlpool tub and separate bathroom. The second bedroom was 2 doubles or queens. There was a pullout sofa (I think) in the living area. Finally the studio lockoff had a queen and pullout sofa.
Even with only 2 BR without the lockoff it is a TON of space. Absolutely huge villa.

I would HIGHLY recommend the HGVC. It was nicely decorated, friendly people, and clean and well kept.
