Does anyone have any info . about the Timekeeper and the space that it uses up? I am assuming that the Timekeeper is still only open "seasonally" and will eventually be removed. Anyone know about a future replacement for this attraction. I imagine the emagineers could find something really neat to do with that space!

I think they are going to do something with it right after they finish that thing they are working on at the 20,000 leagues lagoon-

Whats going on with the 20,000 leagues area? Is it just a refurb?

His point is that *nothing* has been going on with that area for close to a decade now. In other words, there probably won't be a replacement for either Timekeeper or the CoP for quite some time.

Yeah, I was just kidding.

If you think about it, there isn't much of a reason to keep timekeeper closed. Yeah, the film does have a pre 9/11 NYC skyline, but that could change. There isn't much of a cost savings, really, if you think about it - it would take only a few cms to run it.

No, the way I understand it, the reason it is closed is because it is easier for disney management to keep it closed than to deal with the complaints about it. From what I understand, timekeeper was the most complained about attraction at walt disney world. People complained that they had to wait a long time, then had to stand in the theatre and there was no seating. If you think about it, waits could pile up there since it is admitted a whole theatre at a time. This is basically what happened to the boat ride in DAK - people complained about it, and it was easier to just close it than deal with the complaints.

If you want to see timekeeper open, I really think it possibly could be opened if TONS of people started complaining about it being closed. But it would have to be enough people to make it worth it over the perception that so many people complained about it being open. But I honestly think if there was a landslide of complaints about it they would open it - the cost savings can not be that much.

The COP, on the other hand, suffers from attendance problems.

OK, next question. What IS Timekeeper? I have seen photos of the guy himself, but what's the film about? Is it a history of civilization thing? Is it scary for kids?

I'll apologize in advance to those who like this attraction........but IMHO, this attraction should be closed because it is not up to par with other Disney attractions for reasons already discussed by previous posters. So I guess that I would most prefer they renovate this space and do something good with it....but.... if that doesn't happen, I think that it behooves Disney to keep this attraction closed.

I personally think that the idea for the Timekeeper is excellent, and the film is very well done. The ratings it has received are also quite good, although the range of opinions is also great - some find it excellent, some find it dismal, few think it's somewhere in between (kinda like the Country Bears).
There's just three major problems with it:

a) The film was designed for a European audience - many Americans don't recognize many of the landmarks and people involved, or they don't feel the same way about them that many Europeans would.

b) There are no seats. While this is normal for a 360-degree movie, they may have been better off trimming it to 210-degrees and installing it in a theater like the one in France. What would be lost on the visual side would be more than compensated for by the gain in comfort.

c) It has a shot of the New York Skyline as one of the highlights of the movie. Some people appear to be offended by the inclusion of any type of World Trade Center footage in an amusement attraction. This subject is so obviously sensitive to virtually all people that it distracts from the point of the scene, whether they take offense or not.

I love the Timekeeper, and I would hate for it to close permenently.

Which is another reason is closed. Now that he has "fallen into the Gap" so to speak, who knows what will happen. DL subs may be reopening, so maybe the guy who replaced Pressler (Jay Rasulo) will get the attractions back up to par at WDW's MK, too.
