Time to DOUBLE up!! 2 for 1 Pre-TR!!!!!!! TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED!!!!!!!

Blizzard Beach will be closed for refurb so it will be Typhoon Lagoon. We haven't been to either waterpark yet. We have the Disney Beach Party sing along songs and it shows clips from both. I don't know which one is better though. :confused3I know March weather has its ups and downs so obviously it will have to be a decent day.

Have you ever eaten at Cape May? I never read too much about it here. We love seafood and Juliana even eats shrimp now so we thought it would be good to try. Who knows, we might even be able to hit Beaches & Cream after.

Thanks for the prayers. She hasn't had a CAT scan in a while. Hopefully after this scan her doctor will bump up her visits to 6 months. We thought he would say that last time but he didn't.

We really enjoy Cape May & have been there a half dozen times, the breakfast twice and for dinner four times. A nice low key atmosphere, good food, fantastic setting - make sure you leave time for strolling outside afterwards. It's such a gorgeous resort! For me it's tied with the Poly - INCREDIBLE 'pool' - really incredible mini water park. You can walk over to the Boardwalk to rent a surrey bike, Juliana would love it. IMO it's the best place to rent a surrey bike at the World.

But I digress.... :rotfl: back to the food - DH thought the crab legs were a lot of effort & preferred the carved turkey with mashed potatoes & gravy. They probably had roast beef or prime rib also. I like the peel & eat shrimp which is located with the salads - as you first walk in to be seated you'll be facing the salad side of the buffet. The sides are consistently tasty - try the cornbread if you're a fan. I think your wife made a terrific choice! Hope you like it. You'll be too full afterwards to get ice cream but do try to take the time to see Beaches & Cream - it's an excellent vantage point to see the pool! And y'never know, Juliana might just find a tiny spot left for ice cream... :goodvibes

Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite water park overall & DH's favorite for the main wave pool - it really is as cool as it looks in the DVD. The lazy river is excellent & they have a fun kids' section. You'll enjoy it - and we went last March & had good weather :wizard: Try to catch the Photopass picture spot kinda as you enter (by the surfin' gator statue w/ the old fashioned car) and also a picture w/ the shipwrecked boat in the background is classic. The first visit we ever made to TL was one of the nicest Disney days we've had. It's that beautiful and relaxing. :cloud9: HTH!

That still is amazing that you can get it for 18.

You do what you want and we'll support you!:thumbsup2

Oh and great job on the shirt. I won't tell any other man that you did them.;)
I've used priceline the last two times and got cars from Alamo. The only thing that stinks is you have to pay when you bid and if you cancel you still have to pay.

After all this planning.. I AIN'T CANCELING!

Thanks for not telling anyone about the shirts. pirate:

1) NO, it wouldn't be un-DISlike to have 2 PTRs going. ;)
Well I just combined my 2 together. LOL

2) I really hope Jul will have a fantastic check up, with not one thing to worry about! going to 6 months would be a great feeling!
I'm sure she will too. We just start getting nervous. Although this time when they put in the IV they will just take her blood. So that will make it easier.

3) Rentals?? I have not a clue what you should pay, where to go, or anything. That's why I'm on the boards. So others can brave new worlds and pioneer this stuff for us.
They like to charge around $30 a day so $20 is a deal. I can get codes from Costco but they still can't touch priceline.

4) Find a cake yet?
UMMMM no:sad2::scared:

5) LOVE those shirts! YOU did a great job!! Like Stephanie said, I'd love to see their reaction immortalized digitally. In your friend's man-uel, will this score or lose you points?? (sorry, I'm having a brain burrito on his name!)
Dave... How funny if on park day 1 we wear matching shirts and we run into someone we know.. like Maroo. LOL :lmao:

I tried to bid $16 a day on Priceline for a full size rental car. But my bid was rejected. :sad2: I have found that about 2 weeks before you need the car is the best time to get a deal.

Cool, thanks for the tip! I never would have held out until 2 weeks before if you hadn't said that. :lmao: But we will likely need a minivan or full SUV to fit the wheelchair, so I'm guessing I'll be paying more than 18... Ouch!

We got a date for Juliana's next check up. Monday February 8th. She needs a CAT scan and bloodwork at the clinic. (CCMC) She is going to have to miss school. We tried to get her the next Monday, she is off, but other people must of had the same idea. We called about 3 weeks ago to make her appointment but CCMC never called us back. GGGRRRRR ;)

I was also collecting pictures and 'other' stuff to try to start Juliana's WISH PTR. A little birdie told me that I should get it started. I think maybe some time next week I'll have it all together and ready to go.

I hate how the kids' clinics are always packed during non school days and hours. You'd think they'd have extra staff on hand during those times. Oh well. At least you will be stretching out the visits after this one (thinking positive here). You can start a PTR as soon as you decide you're taking a trip, in my extrememly experienced DIS opinion. :rotfl2: But you would certainly have followers right from the start. :thumbsup2

This was your 3000th post!!!!!!! Congrats!!!! :worship:

Wow thanks for your reviews! You actually just made me get excited to eat here! We try to book ADRs that Juliana will like (characters, buffets). I know that most restaurants have children's menus but we really don't want her eating chicken fingers everyday. Her tastes have grown over the last year- she eats so many different foods now.

Juliana loves the lazy river! We went to a local amusement park this summer and she didn't want to get off the lazy river! I think we would have a great time here.

Thanks for your insight!!! :goodvibes

Are you a Costco member? BJs? There are even codes from Walmart. The good thing is you can book a car through Alamo (non prepayed) and if you get a cheaper rate of better code you can cancel the reservation and just book another. I always talk about Alamo because I find they have some of the cheaper rates, and it is very easy at MCO.

I'm going to get her PTR started next week. I was looking through some pics when she was in the hospital and it was hard. I guess to know her story I'll have to use a few of them. I also found a video that was taken the day before we found out about her cancer. You wouldn't think that anything was wrong with her. You know what.. as a teaser I'll post it now. I'll post it on her WISH PTR too.

When we took my niece (March last year) I looked into cakes at Publix - the fairy friends cake was perfect for her, she's a Tink-a-holic! There are about a dozen Disney princess style cakes to choose from - not all this expensive. Just a thought - if you are able to do a birthday cupcake at the restaurant you could have the cake later at 'home'. We were at the Poly & had ours out on the balcony overlooking the pool, worked out great.

And thanks for the congrats!! That's a lotta :surfweb: :rotfl2:

Love the video!! I think the first posts of your WISH PTR will be quite some tear jerker!

Tim, did you read what my plans were for Sunday and Monday? I'll just tell you again here, LOL. Sunday is the day we get there, so we'll be going to the MK that night. Monday is DHS day since we have a 11:30 a.m. ADR at Hollywood Brown Derby.

Thanks for the link! They do have nice cakes on there. I thought it would be cool to have a cake brought out to her at dinner. I'm not sure what we are doing after dinner... just heading back to the house, heading back to MK, or something else. I guess I'm really gonna have to figure all this out.

These were her 2 cakes from last year. One for her friends party and one for the family party.

It's funny but we didn't take too many pictures in the hospital. The first couple days took a toll on all of us. Juliana was really weak and we didn't get much sleep. As she got better we started taking more pics. I thought it was important for her to see when she got older.

Hummm.... we have a dinner ADR at 'Ohana on Sunday night. I'm just not sure if we are doing anything with Mel's cousin and family because it is his son's birthday. We might do something with them in the afternoon so we can make that 'Ohana ADR. Our Monday plans are up in the air.... I'm thinking MK though.:scratchin

She is/was adorable!!! A little performer. :cutie:

I just saw a couple of awesome cake pics over on Jackie's PTR. (CharlestonPrincess) Here is the link to the first post and there is another great girly one a couple of posts later.
http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=35184059&postcount=635

This first one is a miniature cake and is so adorable! What is it about things that are little are so cute?!? Puppies, kittens, babies, cakes? :confused3

I'm thinking more just her story and the way things progressed and happened are what will get me all choked up. I just can't tell you how happy I am that she seems to be healthy and healed!! :woohoo:

Okay, Tim. I'm going to admit it -- I skimmed! As you know, I've been away due to a medical issue, but I'm back.

Mark and I have eaten at Cape May twice for dinner...loved it the first time, thought it was so-so the second time. Dont' expect a lot of seafood offerings, but there are a few. We personally like breakfast better.

As for the water parks, Mark and I don't do them now that it is just the two of us (we are too old to climb all those stairs to go down the slides and I don't really care for them anyway). When our oldest was there in July, they went to both and he said he still prefers Typhoon Lagoon just a tad over BB. I love the Lazy River at Typhoon Lagoon as well as the Wave Pool.

Okay, as I said...I skimmed. When does Juliana ago for her cat scan? Or did she already and you are just waiting for results?

I wake up to Juliana's smiling face every morning as the picture you sent me of her is above my dresser. :)

Thanks for the link. I think she posted that on the cake chatter thread. It is a nice cake. There will be 7 of us at dinner so I think I would need something a bit bigger. She posted that it is only big enough for 2-3 people.

Little things are cute.. but it got me thinking. :scratchinPuppies turn into slobbering dogs, kittens turn into smelly cats, babies turn into teenagers, and cakes turn into... ummm I don't think I should go there. :sad2: :lmao:

We are so happy for her. Just how everything happened was so sudden and I think that was one of the hardest parts for us... just taking it all in.

Thanks for posting on my user info! It is funny- under the friends tab there is a tab where you can 'Break Friendship' WOW things must really have to go down hill to hit that button!

According to allears besides clam chowder there are:
Farm Raised Clams with Garlic Butter
Snow Crab Legs
Prince Edward Island Sound Mussels with Roasted Tomato Butter
Seasonal Fish du Jour
Steamed Peel & Eat Shrimp

It is not like I am getting lobster or anything but enough seafood to keep us satisfied. Plus Juliana loves shrimp now so she will eat a ton of peal & eat shrimp. popcorn::

If we do the waterpark we won't have to decide which one to do because BB will be closed for rerurb. I think TL sounds like a lot of fun!

She goes for a CAT scan and a clinic visit on February 8th in the morning. She will have to miss school but Melody has that day off so it will work out better for us. I'll give her a hug from you!

Hi Tim! Just checking up on you!

I hope you get that awesome car rental rate and find the cake that's in your imagination. I know what it's like to be looking for something and you know it's just not quite right, and then finally you see something that speaks to you! :cool1:

I'm looking forward to the TR for the Wish trip so just let us know when you start! I'm sure there will be moments... but, there is a happy ending!! :lovestruc

Heather

Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm a slacker. :rolleyes1 We're snowed in right now, though, so I have nothing else to do besides :surfweb:. So there WILL be an update on BOTH threads TODAY!! :thumbsup2

Good luck with the rental car search. I'm really glad that we live close enough that we can drive down and have our own car and not have to pay for a rental. That extra $ means extra days! :cool1:

I'm really looking forward to the Wish Trip PTR. Getting my tissues ready now! Ha! That video was just precious.

If you have any questions about TL let me know.
I will. I hope there is enough for a 4yr old to do.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I'm still scouring the boards for the cake. It is really tough. I saw a few that I liked but I'm not spending $150 for a cake. LOL

I should have the Wish TR started sometime this week. (I think :confused3)

We are going to be at WDW same time ast you guys! Well March 3 and 4
Nevermind, just saw you'Re not IN WDW on March 3 and 4
Awwww.. we leave the 3rd but are going to visit Melody's grandparents for a few days. We won't be in the world till the 7th.

I didn't know you were going in the spring... I thought you were going in the summer. You have a PTR?

Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm a slacker. :rolleyes1 We're snowed in right now, though, so I have nothing else to do besides :surfweb:. So there WILL be an update on BOTH threads TODAY!! :thumbsup2

You guys got the snow, we just have the cold. Glad you are able to catch up! How much snow did you end up getting?

We need the rental to visit family. Obviously we will need one this time since we are staying off site. I wish we didn't have to pay for one either but it takes about 20 hours to drive.... 2 1/2 hours to fly. I'll take the flight! :rotfl:

I love that video of Juliana. It was taken the day before we found out she was sick. It really is crazy how some things happen.

Not a tough decision in my book!! The gas, hotel and food, sure adds up quick!!

Very true!

Having an SUV hurts the gas mileage. Then $100 each way for hotels, plus all that food. It probably is a little cheaper to drive though. Mel would never do it! :lmao:
