Time to DOUBLE up!! 2 for 1 Pre-TR!!!!!!! TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED!!!!!!!

Awesome present. However, two things came to mind:
1. You said Mel got you the cruise for a present. Seems like she got herself a present and let you come along. I'm just sayin'...:rotfl2:
2. The ship looked nice, but I think it would be several orders of magnitude cooler to take the Intrepid out on a cruse to nowhere. :thumbsup2

1. You are correct! But having a nice night out was worth it as a gift to me.

2. That would be awesome! As long as I was able to fly one of the MIGs they have onboard!

I've never heard of such a thing. How cool is that? were there that many people on board?

Lion King Play...it's amazing...It looks like the theater wasn't that big. It looks like every seat was pretty good.

The ship was packed! I don't know if it was sold out but I would say it was 80-90% full. You can do everything you do on a normal cruise but in 1 day.

I think the Bushnell in Hartford seats around 1500 people. It is a smaller theatre. We also had front row seats in the mezzanine, so we had great seats.

I LOVE this pic! I've never been to the Big Apple (sadly) and this is a perspective I've never seen. So cool!!! Loved all the city views. What a fun night. Wonder if they do that in San Diego.....

I found one leaving from L.A.

I would think you would be able to find one from San Diego. The one bad part was having to wake up, pack, and go. A two day cruise to nowhere would of been key! :thumbsup2

What a nice gift (for both of you ;))! LOVE the pics of the City. NYC holds a special place in my heart that is second only to...well, you know where.

Thanks for tracking down that information. Was it hard getting on and off the ship? Is it like boarding and disembarking a normal cruise?

We are lucky to only be an hour & a half from the city. It is easy to get there & home.

Ummmm where is that second place you speak of? :confused3 :lmao: :earboy2:

We parked our car around 11:45.

It took us about 30 minutes to get through security and then to get to check in at the desk. We received a number for boarding. After our check in we hung out and then they started calling numbers. We were #48 so it took a little while to be called. But we were walking on the ship at 1:40 so it wasn't all that bad.

Getting off the ship was easy. They just scanned our room keys and that was it. We didn't have to go through customs. We just rolled our luggage off the ship and to the car. Easy!

We did buy a couple bottles of tax free/ duty free alcohol. A large bottle of Grey Goose for $35, Absolute Vanilla $13, and a bottle of Godiva white chocolate liquor $14. I wish I smoked cigarettes (not really) - they were selling 5 cartons for $135. One carton in CT is close to $90!!!!!

sounds like a great time. what a great gift!

I'm definitely keeping it in mind for November out here in LA!

What a great present from Melody! Sounds like a fun couple trip. Must of been nice to just get out the 2 of you for a night. I went on a cruise about 10 years ago and got really sick. I never went on one again, but hey JC and IASW are fine. I kind of want to try a Disney cruise.
That video of Juliana as a baby made me tear up. Seeing that she looks perfectly fine but really inside she wasn't. I can't imagine what the three of you had to go through. Juliana is such a cute little trooper.
I love the lion king! Was this one on broadway? I'm thinking of seeing the broadway one in NYC this summer.

In the 20s-hurray!! What a fun one night cruise!!!
It was fun! But after partying it up a bit, getting up early and leaving was kinda a bummer. I was passed out early on Sunday night! :lmao:

Check out cruise411.com. They usually have pretty good deals. Of course you can check the 'normal' sites... ie travelocity, expedia, etc.

Sometimes with cruises it is worth it to book earlier. Sometimes you get bumped up when they are trying to fill the ship. :thumbsup2

We hardly felt the boat move or rock. Although there were a few times when we were in the dance club when we felt the ship move. It was funny because the people dancing were all moving to the right, then all moving to the left. LOL

I love that short video of her. It makes me happy and sad to see it... but it is one of my favorites.

This Lion King was in Hartford, CT and a smaller theatre. Mel and I have seen it before in NYC.. about 8 years ago. If you have the chance to see it there do it. The show is so awesome. I'd go and see it again this week if I could. :goodvibes

When I went on my cruise there was a storm in the sea and they were evacuating some parts of the ship! Thanks for your input! I'm trying to decide between Marry Poppins and LK.
I just found out today that we might go to Disney next weekend!:woohoo:
Have a good night, Tim.:goodvibes

Aw Tim, Mel gave you such a great gift! That's my kind of cruise- short and sweet! :thumbsup2

Love the Statue of Liberty pics. I'll get there to see it in person someday!

Suh-weet!! That sounds so fun!!

I just showed the pictures of the Statue to my son (11). He just finished studying about Lady Liberty, and was stoked to see your photo! He was completely wigged you could go up inside!

OK, sorry, just had to share that!

Anyway, love that you two got to get away and have some fun out together. Every couple needs that once in a while!

I don't think I want to be on a cruise ship in a storm... I'm sure I'd be fine, but the other guests might not be having such an uplifting time. On second thought, maybe they would.

Mel wants to see Mary Poppins. I haven't seen any reviews so I don't know much about it.

Nice when you live close and can just decide to goto Disney! Have a great time! I'm jealous! :goodvibes

It was cool... when we were passing the statue, the DJ outside was playing the Star Spangled Banner. It made for a nice experience.

I think they allow you to go up inside again. They stopped letting people up after 9/11. When I was in 8th grade, we went on a class trip to NY and I got to climb up. It is so tight in there. You climb up a spiral staircase to the crown. I'm pretty sure you can't go up o the torch anymore.

The last time we had a night alone was over a year ago for my birthday. I guess once a year is the average.:lmao:

The crown's good enough. I'd imagine it's a pretty nice view from up there! :cool2:

Hope you didn't lose all your souvie money at the casino!! :scared:

I can't believe you neglected to tell us about this cruise till now! How cool would that be to do!

It's cool to look out of the crown but the windows are pretty small(from what I can recall)

Ummmm I lost $100 in about 10 minutes. I had enough. I was playing blackjack and I got killed. It wasn't even fun. Plus the smoke from everyone's cheap ciggys was killing me. Oh well... I'll hit the casinos here in CT when I get a chance.

Sorry... I thought I mentioned it on here but I went back to look and I must of said it somewhere else. Well you found out about it and got to see the pics too! :) You didn't even have to wait! :goodvibes

Sounds like me in Vegas NYE of 1999/2000. I had NEVER gambled anywhere, and my GPa gave me $20 to play slots with. Lost it in about 10 minutes.

$20 huh? That can go REAL fast.

I used to hit the casinos a few times a year... I haven't been there since 11/08. I like to play but don't have the time and don't like depositing my money to the Indians.;)

TRIP UPDATE-

I found the kids a Fairy Godmailer to send them a postcard from WDW. I would of asked Jordan but I didn't want him to feel pressure to say yes if he really didn't want to do it.

Still on the cake search. I have about another 10 days before I have to make a final decision and call the cake line.

You know.... I forgot to tell you guys something.... When our friends were here in CT over Christmas we hosted Dave's birthday party at our house. Branda brought MJ over to our house and he mysteriously vanished. She didn't realize he was gone till they got back home and unpacked. About a week later, Dave & Branda received an email from MJ's captor.... it was a ransom note. :lmao: So one of our friends has MJ and is holding him at ransom... hopefully the whole situation can be sorted out before our trip. I need MJ to join us on this trip!

This was MJ looking at Dave.

And this was Dave's Birthday Cake.
