Ok, so I did all the sewing part on six shirts, including a little tank top for my daughter...now they are soaking in the soda ash...i am on my way to the store for more elastics and gloves.. i hope this works...this is kind of a big project...lots of fun, though... : )

Ok, so here is my "cheat" Mickey shirts. I think it didn't come out too bad!

Just click on the view pictures underneath the picture.

Your shirts came out SUPER awesome! I'd love to hear more about how you did the tie dye patterns, espescially the swirl. I love the one in the 4th pic that looks kind of spattered. Seriously, tell all! :yay:

Ok, the spiral one I pinched the center of the shirt and turned it counter clockwise. The shirt will start forming into a circle. Keep turning it but at the same time make sure you have it lay flat. When it's into a circle, rubberband it. Make sure you have one across, one wide, and one from each side. Also make sure they intersect in the same spot. It should look like a cut pie. Then color each "slice" a different color. I left it for 24 hrs then cut the bands and rinsed. Then I washed it in the washing machine with just detergent(no softner). I dried it and then layed it down put the Mickey stencil on itand pinned it down. Then got my Tulip Cool Fabirc Color spray and sprayed into the stencil. Then I unpinned the stencil and let it dry. These are a little wet. They said you can let sit for 24 hours and wash in 72 hours.:teacher:

The splatter ones I mushed into a loose ball and then rubber banded it in different directions. Then I just put color all over it. Then follow steps above.

Hope it helps, the spray was easier to do for the Mickey head. Still wished I could do it the other way, but I like them.:yay:

Check out Youtube for tie dye videos. It helped me get the knack of the spiral.:thumbsup2

I like the spiral the best too!:lovestruc

Kristin- the shirts look awesome! WHat a great idea with the stencil!

Well kids, I leave for WDW tomorrow- so here is one liast pic before I go! DS is wearing a shirt he made all by himself- I just tied it up for him and he did the colors!

hahaha! Thank you! Hey- you are in NYC- at least you have a World of Disney store nearby to get your fix- I am stuck in Arkansas!! I'll have pics when we get back for everyone!

Oh! And I will have to tell you all about MNSSHP! We are going to the first one on Friday!!

Wow, all those shirts look sooooo great!! Mine are in plastic bags outside waiting for the 24 hours. I cannot wait!! The only thing keeping me from running out there to peek is all the rain from Hurricane Danny. Maybe Danny can help me rinse. LOL...

speaking of which, has anyone on this thread ever been to the World during a hurricane? we had a near miss with Ivan last year...just curious to know how that goes.

I have! A few times actually- never bad enough to where they close the parks completely down- if it was a day where it was really coming down we would just go to Disney Quest, or catch a movie at DTD. If it is just raining- we still hit the parks, just in the rain gear!

One of my best friends works for WDW, and she volunteered to work when they had "the big one" several years ago. WDW let the staff stay in the hotels on site so they didnt have to go home, and Disney just closed the parks, and did fun activities in the lobbys of the hotels- and did their best to make sure guest that were supposed to already be checked out but had flight delays still had accomodations. She says Disney very rarely closes the parks down, but they have a def plan in the event they do!

I am very interested in seeing if you are able to make 4 shirts for our trip in 2 weeks? I'm going to email you at both email addresses you posted as well. Hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks, Shelly :)

sorry i cant see ya'lls pics right now. I bet they look cool. I used silk thread to sew the ears.

Nothing wrong with cheating :) on the shirts of course. I've been soooo busy and have some new pics to share with you, i'll post them tomorrow. So excited.

Hi PixieDust32! I just found this thread and read the entire thing - thanks for sharing your expertise!:worship:

My favorites are the last batch of shirts you posted (post #309). I just love the vibrancy and shades of the colors. Can you tell me what brand and colors of dye you used for these specific shirts? Did you mix the colors yourself? How many different colors did you use?

TIA!!!:flower3:
