We were awake this morning just before 7:00 and, after doing our ablutions, Dad went down at 7:30 to change up some money and I went up to Topsiders to get some breakfast.

After eating we went up to deck 10 to watch the ship docking at Copenhagen and to take some photos.

We were welcomed alongside by the Tivoli Gardens Boys Band.

By 8:30 the gangways were in place so we made our way down to Deck 1 aft where we got off the ship and had a couple of photos taken.

There was a hop-on hop-off bus parked up so we bought tickets for that (160 Danish Krone each) and had to wait about an hour for the bus to leave. We did a complete loop and then stayed on back round to Tivoli Gardens, which is where the title for this trip report comes in - towards the beginning of the cruise I thought Dad had asked me “How are we going to get to tiddly carvings?” and it took me a while to realise what he actually said was “How are we going to get to Tivoli Gardens.

Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park in the city centre which is said to be one of Walt Disney’s inspirations for the original Disneyland in California. We had a wander round and found the replica of the Little Mermaid statue, which is on display in Tivoli Gardens while the original statue is on loan to China for the World Expo.

The rides at Tivoli Gardens are not included in the general admission price, which was all we had paid, so we just admired the scenery before stopping off for lunch.

Lunch consisted of traditional open sandwiches for both of us, I chose the Spiced Herring served with chopped onion and capers while Dad had the Fresh Herring Platter, which was one each of the Spiced Herring, Curried Herring served with a quarter of a boiled egg and capers, and ordinary herring served with chopped onions and capers. Although they were described on the menu as being served on one slice of buttered bread the bread and butter came up in a separate basket.

Once we had finished eating we wandered round the park a bit more before leaving at 1:15 and walking down the main pedestrianised shopping street - Stroget - before arriving at Nyhaven where we boarded a boat for a canal boat tour.

The tour lasted for an hour and about 15 minutes in it began raining and thundering - which wouldn’t have been so bad except this was the boat we were in.

The guide handed out ponchos but by the time it stopped raining around 10 minutes later the boat looked like this.

As we normally do we made a joke about it but after another 10 minutes it began raining again!! The ponchos went back on as we continued the tour and we were almost on the home stretch when we got back to the canal where the tour started but as we turned into it we saw there was another boat coming the other way and we had to stop to let it past. By this time the thunder was still going and we were now being pelted with hailstones!!! We finally got back to the dock where we retreated to the nearest toilet and got our proper waterproofs out of the bottom of our rucksack before starting to walk back to the boat.

On the way back I stopped off to take some photos of the home of the real Little Mermaid

And we also stopped off to buy a replica.

Finally I got some more photos of the Magic before re-boarding the ship at around 4:00. Sailaway time today was 5:00 and as there was no sail away party we sat on our verandah as we departed.

Later we went down to Shutters to pick up our latest photos and then had a couple taken with Snow White

We then went to Preludes for a pre-show cocktail (Zombies each tonight) and then into the show at 6:30, which tonight was “Once Upon A Song” - 5 cast members performing songs from various Disney musicals and what was nice about the show was that as well as including all the old classics they also included some lesser known ones as well.

After the show we went up to get ready for dinner, which tonight was back in Parrot Cay. We went down for dinner at 8:20 where I started off with Jamaican Chicken Tenderloins, Dad had crab dip with plaintain chips, we followed that with papaya and mango soup for Dad, Parrot Cay salad for me, then Caribbean chicken for Dad and Jerk seasoned pork chop for me. Finally Dad had the banana French toast and I passed again.

After dinner we went into the Promenade Lounge where we had a large brandy each and as we were drinking Mattias came and joined us, which was unexpected as we knew he was dining at Palo so we hadn’t expected to see him tonight. Later Pathal and Michael wandered past as well so it was a final reunion of table 5 as Mattias would be leaving us tomorrow and his colleague would be joining us for the rest of the trip.

After chatting for a while we retired upstairs where we found an unexpected, and rather expensive looking fish extender gift from cquick.

We were in bed by 11:50 ready for a long day tomorrow on a private tour of Warnemunde & Wismar in Germany.

I wish I had the know-how to put the backgrounds in - it was actually the guys at Shutters who did that. :goodvibes

David,
Was it expensive to get into Tivoli Gardens? I also read that it didn't open until 11:00am. Were you on the Disney tour and got in early or did you diy?

Copenhagen looks great, another lovely day :goodvibes

I don't have a record of what we paid but the price for basic admission on their website is 95 Danish Krone (about $15) and that sounds about right from what I remember. We were DIY, got there around 11:15 and it wasn't busy at all.

tiddly carvings :lmao: lovely scenery at the tiddly carvings. shame about the downpour later on. I see you have your 'jazz hands' out again :goodvibes;)

Thanks, we are leaning towards heading over there and give the girls a day of play instead of just sightseeing!

The photographer told us to do something silly and that was all I could think of. :rotfl:

A great day David, shame about the weather but Tivoli Gardens looks beautiful, fabulous fish extender gifts today:goodvibes

More great photos, David... Tiddly Carvings  looks very pretty - I've been to Copenhagen before but never thought to visit!!! Fab FE gifts too...

Another great day. Tiddly carvings looks amazing, would love to visit. Wishing I could have a zombie cocktail right now, they sound really good.

Laur's xx
