Today’s Navigator

Today was a bittersweet day for me as it was my birthday but it was also the last full day of our cruise. The sea was a bit rough this morning so I was awoken around 6:00 by the rocking of the boat and finally got up around 8:00. I had decided not to do the character breakfast after all so we went up to Topsiders to get an orange juice and an apple juice as we were meeting fellow DISers in Palo for brunch at 10:30.

After drinking our fruit juice we went down and sat in the Promenade Lounge before going up to have a wander around the shop and then went up from there to Palo at the rear of deck 10.

We met up with Gydell and her family, Tammy (TammyAlphabet), Linda (DisneyLoverLinda) and her husband and another lady whose name I missed. We were given a glass of champagne to start with and then shown around the buffet which consisted of everything from pastries to seafood, pizza to chicken and no end of desserts. We had platefuls of stuff each and shared various different pizzas across the table, including a sweet pizza with various berries on it which was delicious.

At 12:00, suitably stuffed I went downstairs to get a photo signed at the Captain’s signing and then we went up to Shutters to sort out our final photos and we were able to downgrade from a second 50 credit package to a 20 credit package with 5 credits spare.

Next event was the ‘Top 10 Theme Park Innovations’ presentation in Rockin’ Bar D at 2:30 which we went to and both nodded off in a couple of times. After that finished we went up and did our packing while watching England scrape through to the last 16 in the World Cup.

At 6:00 it was time for our usual pre-show drinks and the final show which tonight was ‘Remember The Magic’ and was a great way to end the cruise. After the show went up and put our suitcases outside the stateroom door as we would be in dinner when they came round to collect them and then went down to Shutters to use up our photo credits and pick up the CD.

Our final dinner was in Animator’s Palate where tonight I started with artichoke dip and Dad had seafood platter, this was followed by lobster soup for Dad and potato and leek soup for me, then chicken breast salad for me and Yachtsman steak for Dad. We both passed on dessert but a cake was brought out for me again and we all had a slice of that.

After dinner we stopped off in the lobby for the ‘Till We Meet Again’ show with all the characters and performers from the various stage shows.

After that we went into the Promenade Lounge for a final brandy. I also took a photo of our servers for the past 12 nights Kingsley, Renata and Dad’s new admirer, Bonita

A special mention also has to go to Calvin from Preludes who made a valiant effort at working out what drinks we were going to have each night but because I tended to swap around between a Zombie and a Golden Delight he was nearly always wrong and gave up trying after a while. Unfortunately I forgot to get a photo of him but some of you may have come across him before.

We were in bed by 11:30 ready for a final breakfast and debarkation tomorrow.

Day 13

Happy Birthday David, what a lovely way to spend your birthday, great photos, Im sure we had Captain John when we went on the Wonder in 2005, toooo long ago!!!:goodvibes

That is so cool to be able to do a Palo Brunch on your birthday. :goodvibes It's definitely and 'end of trip' experience for me - all that food!!! :lmao:

I'm pretty sure Renata served us copious champers cocktails last September... ;)

Sounds like you had a fab birthday.

Isn't Bonita amazing?? I met her on the Panama Canal cruise in 2008 - she was at the Cove Cafe then...saw her again in Jan 2010 (she was at Pinocchio's) and she remembered me :goodvibes

What a perfect way to spend your birthday :yay::yay: Palo brunch is on my wish list for September ... it sounds amazing.

She really was great and even when she was working behind the bar she would always come over to have a chat with us when it was quiet.

Looks like you had a lovely birthday David:thumbsup2

The till we meet again always makes me cry:sad1:

Lucky you to celebrate your birthday onboard The Magic ::yes:: A lovely day at sea. We're big fans of Palo Brunch too :)
