I just planned a quick MLK weekend trip. The details:

1. DVC Gold pass still within renewal date. I wasn't going to renew until this came up.
  • Need 3 days for MLK
  • Need 6 days in early June
  • Need 4 days in later June
  • 10-day pass WILL cover both June trips (just doing the beach in between)
Now it seems like renewing my AP makes financial sense (didn't before).

2. The twist
  • 3 day MLK trip is with a friend who hasn't been in 10 years.
  • Want to buy parkhopper for every trip
  • Want to buy Genie+ JUST for MLK trip
3. The question
  • Can I buy a loaded 3-day pass THEN on the third day use the value towards a renewal of my DVC pass (Y or N)
  • BUT not add Genie+ to my renewed Annual Pass (Y or N)
  • Afraid if I buy Genie+ on the initial 3-day pass I'll have to upgrade my new Annual Pass to match.
Thank you for your experiences/answers

Is there a reason you are not just renewing your AP? I’ve never had one so don’t get all the ins-and-outs.
I do know from reading on here that Genie is not available to be added to APs until the day you need them. There is not an AP that includes Genie at this time.

I wasn't going to renew because I only had 10 days planned (as opposed to my usual 25-30). I've got my DVC discount for shopping and dining, so don't really need the AP one.

Just trying to be cost-conscious (while still doing "Disney math").

Why wouldn't you just renew the AP? Now you're going to renew the AP AND spend money for an additional 2 days.
Ultimately, I would do whichever is cheaper. Last time I looked the AP renewal was cheaper than a 10 day park hopper, which you would have to do as 2 separate tickets due to the date coding on tickets now.

It's only offering me the Incredi-pass for renewal, not the Sorcerers Pass. If I can get the Sorcerers pass it's a no-brainer. at the Incredi-pass level, individual tix are slightly cheaper.

You have to call to Member Services to renew as a DVC Member. Online renewals are ONLY available for Tourist (non-discounted) and FL Resident Annual Passes.

I renewed my gold pass last month to the sorcerrers pass. It can't be done online. You have to call to renew. I think we paid around $800 each.

We had to call to renew last time as well. Online gave us no options, even with DVC.

AWESOME NEWS!!!! Problem solved (except for the extended hold time I expect...)

Always count on the DIS for the best information!
