Ticket Prices Going Up 2/12/17 ~ New Pricing Page 8>>>

The "Expiring" Ticket
This one's a bit more confusing. All tickets purchased from February 12, 2017 onward will expire December 31, 2018 with an odd exception being added. If you purchase a 3 to 10 day ticket and have an unused portion, you’ll be able to add on to that ticket.

What This Means
Let's say you have 3 days remaining on a 10-day ticket purchase. Those 3 days usually expire 14 days from first use. With this new option, you can bring your expired ticket with three days remaining on another trip and purchase a ticket of greater value for only the difference in the ticket cost.

So, you’d take the 3 days remaining ticket to the ticket booth on a later trip and then pay the difference to upgrade the ticket to a 3 days or longer ticket.

(emphasis mine) as @hiroMYhero said, this part is inaccurate; I haven't seen that verbiage anywhere but KTP's article in the OP, where he also mentioned not being sure if it was totally correct or official yet.

That verbiage is not on the updated WDW ticket buying page we got today, which says:

Multi-day tickets and any options purchased must be used within 14 days of first use, except for Florida Resident 3-Day and 4-Day Tickets. Florida Resident 3-Day and 4-Day Tickets expire 6 months after first use or December 16, 2018, whichever comes first, and may not be used on the following blockout dates: April 8, 2017 to April 21, 2017; June 5, 2017 to August 10, 2017; December 18, 2017 to January 1, 2018; March 24, 2018 to April 6, 2018; June 4, 2018 to August 9, 2018.

Yes I'll remove if you wish.

The whole reason I added, and thought I was clear is the OP started thread based on KTP article but did not post the article. This was a major part of his announcement, this was being discussed. This part made no sense and was not being reported by any other source in this way. To me it was part of what was driving the discussion but without the content (the link could be pulled or article changed and therefore we lose the content) to read, confusion happens. Just trying to keep verbatim what he said available.
If you don't mind deleting as the invalid info keeps getting posted and questioned.

Perhaps @patrickpiteo can remove the link he did add to his initial post as this thread is now based on the correct ticket info - beginning with page 8.

Thanks, Hopper. :)

Done.

Perhaps a new thread specific to accurate information would be more helpful than folks continuing to post on this swirl of info created by the article. This thread was started based on the article and the content within. Since it appears the content is inaccurate (and many of us questioned that at the beginning) - not sure it is a positive to keep discussing on it.

You need to Edit your "expiring" section. The 14-day expiration of a used/in use Ticket still applies.

Your info is invalid and misleading. Did you "lift" this info from an incorrect Blog?

Good catch. I read through a few different blogs. Obviously the best move is to go to the Disney site. I started writing it last night so prob should have fact checked. Thanks

anyone have anything official from wdw about unused expired tickets being honored after 12/31/2018 to apply towards another ticket? for free DDP packages, but using AP on that visit (us), this is a big issue as we planned to save those "mandatory" tickets for future visits. For me, it's $1200 of tickets, so expiring in 2018 could push us to canx free DDP vs. just rolling them over to a ticket purchase for 2019, which is no big deal.

Has anyone confirmed whether tickets bought today from UT or parksavers will have the expiration date?

It's clear their pricing didn't change yet (fastpasser said later this week it will) but not sure if that is when theirs will add the expiration? Or if that is in effect already as well?

something else that's been suggested on the canadian threads is a possible extension of the canadian deal until may. has anyone heard of an extension?

This is another area where they dropped the communication ball: some have been very assuredly told that yes, it's being extended through May. I did a CM chat this morning and told she knew nothing about it and the promo still says Feb 28th on her end.

When you purchase through disneyworld.com, there's a "terms and conditions" type window that pops up somewhere in the purchase process. It might have been updated today to contain information which we haven't seen elsewhere. I'm not sure how far into the purchase process you need to be in order to see that window.

@Robo spent hours yesterday and today on this thread getting out correct info. If Robo would like this thread closed and everyone redirected to the Ticket Sticky, that's a definite possibility.

Will discuss with Robo as he's invested the most time here. :)

If it's posted here I can't find it...

Any word on Florida resident AP renewal pricing?? Specifically the Silver Pass?

Thanks

MG

With the new prices, does anyone know what the new cost is to renew an AP? Just curious how much that has gone up. Thx.

Thanks, Hopper.

No matter what we decide to do, there will always be more questions (that's what this board is all about.)
And, the questions will, by nature, be repetitive.
(Heck, if everyone actually read Sticky Posts, my post count might be closer to 268. ;) )

I think we COULD leave this one open, at least until I can polish-up the Ticket Sticky (and I'd like confer with and get
more info from my "reliable source" on the inside.)

The Expiring Ticket
All tickets will now have expiration dates, not just one-day and Florida resident tickets. Tickets and any options purchased must be used within 14 days of first use. The first day of use must be on or before December 31, 2018.

What This Means
If you don't use it, you lose it.

But Why?
I actually like this move. From a business perspective, it gives guests incentive to return. From an immediate standpoint, the idea that a ticket expires at the end of the year will drive guests back. Again, this can increase park guests in 2017 and 2018, when Disney is still very much under construction.

If I missed you posting the following info, I'm sorry... but I consider THE most important aspect of this is that if a ticket is left UNUSED and is allowed to "expire" (currently-issued but unused tickets will expire Dec. 31, 2018,) the owner of that expired ticket will NOT LOSE the money they paid for that ticket.
IF they choose to buy a NEW ticket, they will receive the amount that they originally paid for the ticket which has expired... in the purchase transaction of buying the new ticket.
(Similar to doing an upgrade, but no price-bridging.)

If you can buy some today from undercover tourist or other ticket dealer then you should. That's what we did this morning and we were able to get the water park and more option without the hopper.
Actually I did about a week ago because I know historically WDW ticket price increases usually go up in February. In fact, I just finished attaching them to MDE this morning.
I was referring to future park visits. I don't want to be saddled with the cost of Hopper's but I guess there's just no choice now. I don't get the rational though. By making me spend more on Hoppers I'm just going to buy fewer park days and thus not spending as much money in the parks.

Thanks, Hopper.

All is good for me, I'll move on. :goodvibes

So that info about being able to upgrade a partially used ticket after the 14 days is now considered incorrect?

So, I just called Disney as well about the Canadian ticket option and what I was told is:

1. The "Dec 31/17" must use by date is an error. There is NO expiry on these tickets, there never has been, and never will be.
2. The deal has been extended until May 20th. So, until May 20th, Canadian residents can purchase tickets at a (now 32% discount) that will not expire.

So I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief.

This is kind of a drag. We are not park hoppers but we are water parkers. Now we have to buy hoppers in order to get water parks. Being forced to buy something we won't utilize because we don't tour the parks that way.
Couldn't agree more. Between this being the only option and the ridiculous Disney transportation to/from the water parks, I'm really going to try to talk the kids out of doing them anymore, so we can just do base tix and then maybe we can just spend a couple down days at the hotel.
