TICKET PRICE INCREASE - Here It Is

I'm trying to get on the Disney World website to buy my APs and it keeps freezing and then going to the error screen.

UGH!

UGH!

Heck, it will do that on a normal day...today it's probably going to melt...

Remind me of the upgrade rules...
I think this is correct:

If I buy a pass w/o waterpark and more and use it, I can still upgrade it to an AP with waterpark and more IF I decide to.

The only problem is if I buy a pass with waterpark and more then I HAVE to upgrade it to an AP with waterpark and more, right?

Am I correct?

I think I'm better off getting APs without waterpark (even if DVC discount is an extra $25 off) and just buying separate yearly waterpark passes if we want to go more than once...especially because we aren't likely to use DisneyQuest or anything other than waterparks and the kids price is $20 lower than adults anyway.

If I buy an AP today online, I can use it later this year and the clock starts on first entry right?

$60 increase in the standard AP

This is what I did -- just bought my AP earlier this week and my next definite trip to WDW is January 2013 (unless something magical happens and I can go earlier!). I heard the ticket prices were headed up, and immediately bought my AP.

Is there anyone out there that thinks these prices are crazy? I get the feeling that most disboarders are ok with the increases. Please don't flame me. I am just asking. I still have family members who want to come to FL with me. :confused3

It's a lot of money. But so far, for me, Disney is still well worth these prices. For a full day of Disney's one-of-a-kind entertainment? Absolutely.

I do wish prices were lower, like they used to be, of course! The higher the prices go overall at WDW, the fewer trips I can take.

For example, this is the first year in almost 10 years that I'm not going to Disney -- in fact I'm in the final third of a nearly-2-year break. I still see the value for my money, but I can't afford to go as much!

Yes on the first.

On the second, you only have to upgrade it to a Premium AP if you USED a WPFM option. If you haven't used one of the options.

So how would I go about finding out for sure if added free dining will change my ticket prices?

Figured I'd share the results of another call. This lady said I could add free dining later and it wouldn't increase my ticket prices, but that I'd have to cancel my current room-only reservation with AAA discount and instead get a new package reservation to set myself up for this.

That's the part that makes me unsure...if you the cancel the existing reservation and get a new one, then I would expect the new reservation is going to be based on then-current prices. And especially since "free dining" means paying full price for everything else...

Wow it looks like my tickets are actually going to go down!

Before we had 8 day hoppers w/WPFAM = $385 pp, before tax
Now base 8 day ticket = $298 + $79 for hopper & WPFAM = $377 before tax

This works out well for me this year! Does anyone know if I can call and get the $8 per ticket refunded?? More money for souvenirs :cool1:

Hoping someone can help me out here. Last summer we bought 3 -10 day park hopper passes (they are unused at this point) and the plan was to add the non expiring option when we arrived this summer. That option just increased $50 for each 10 day ticket! Am I out of luck or is there anyway to handle this from home? We wont be in Florida until August!

If you've already purchased the tickets, no.

If they are part of a package, you could call and ask about rebooking the package under the new prices after tomorrow - as long as you don't lose any other room discount you might have had.

I agree with you. $95 for a one day ticket is crazy. :sad2:

Yes we purchased a package - September during free dining, so no room discounts.

In this case, call Ticketing and ask if you can add it now. If you have physical possession of the tickets, you may need to provide the info printed on the tickets. If they are will-call, it might be easier.

This would only work if you purchased them direct from Disney. If you got them from a third party, you'll have to contact them.

If they can't add it now, you aren't 100% out of luck - if you at least use them once, then you won't have to pay for the additional increase of the 10-day PH on top of the $50 extra for the NE, but you won't avoid that extra NE.

Your current reservation is room only correct? So you do or dont have tickets on the reservation now?? If you add tickets after the increase you will absolutely be charged the new price. It doesnt matter when you booked your room. You will need a package inc tickets for dining to be added whether free or not. Why not just change your reservation to a package now. It can always be adjusted to reflect a discount offered.

Should've been clearer, they wanted me to cancel my current reservation NOW and get a package to lock in the old ticket prices.

Ah, well then, yes...if you rebook by tomorrow, everything is at old prices. From that, it definitely sounds like if you rebook AFTER tomorrow to change to a Free Dining offer, then you'll be subject to the new ticket prices.

I just talked to a cast member and they said Disney is no longer going to offer 5,6 & 7 day no expiration tickets 4 days is the limit for Florida residents. I'm wondering because I didn't see any info about the no expiration option at all so I'm thinking they may be doing away with that all together.

Yes, current reservation is room only.

That is what they wanted me to do is switch to a package in case free dining comes out so I don't have to pay the increased ticket price.

Then I could upgrade the 9 day no expiration tickets to annual passes after using them once and they'd be the same price as the current ones.

BUT this all hinges on free dining being for sure and not having any trouble upgrading the 9 day no expiration tickets with bridging to ensure the APs are the same price as they'd be right now. If I wait and free dining never comes or if I can't bridge the tickets to APs correctly, it is all shot.

Bleh, this is all starting to be more work than it is worth and I may just buy APs now and hope for a good AP discount and not worry about free dining. IF everything works out correctly, I'd potentially save like $100.
