If we had 10 day non-expire, used 5 can we add any days this trip to those tickets?

TIA!

Or, can i use the credit from these tickets to purchase expiring tickets? Or would they have to be non-expiring because the old ones were?

I'll give you my best guess of an answer and at least bump your question back up to the top if nothing else. ;) I believe you can add days back to your ticket, but you may have to "fill them back up." Meaning you may just be able to make them 10 day non-expiring tickets again. I think you can always get the credit for unused days, but I think you have to be upgrading the ticket, not downgrading (ie non-expiring to expiring). That's just my recollection of the way tickets used to be handled before the MYW program. I could be totally wrong, but maybe someone else will chime in.

thanks! GS said I could do it, but I've learned not to put my faith in that!

Actually, you cannot do that. You can't refill tickets. Since you already had a 10 day ticket which is the maximum, you cannot add more days to these tickets.

I didn't mean add to make it more than a 10 day ticket. :confused3 She asked if she used 5 days of the ticket, could she add more of the days back? Allison, you could certainly be correct ::yes:: , but I've done this in the past with the older park hopper tickets without any problem. I even called guest services too (had to ask them something else also) and was told you could upgrade them back to the same type of ticket. I agree with you "In a hurry," you can't always depend on what GS tells you :worried: , but I'd certainly give it a try when you get down there. ::yes:: Good luck!

She can't add more days back to the 10 day MYW ticket. If it had been a 7 day ticket for example, 3 days could have been added to make it a 10 day ticket. But, since 10 days is the most that is sold, there are no more days to add onto the ticket.

I have in the past bought a 7 day park hopper, used 3 days of the ticket, taken it back to guest services, paid the difference and gotten it back to a 7 day park hopper ticket. At that time a 7 day park hopper was the longest park hopper and I was able to buy the days back. I was essentially getting credit for the unused portion of my ticket so I could pay the diffence and get another 7 day ticket. I spoke with guest services and asked the exact same question and got the same answer. Will it work? Can't say for sure, but I'm not seeing the difference. :confused3

The difference is the new pricing structure. It's significantly cheaper to add on days now and Disney does not let you essentially buy a 5 day ticket for a few dollars by allowing this.

The ticketing system changed at the beginning of last year.

I tried to "add days back" last year to our 10 MYW non expier/park hooper plus tickets when we had only 1 day left on one and 2 or 3 on another. Could not do it then, June 2, 2005 ish. However, we could upgrade them to PAP. We tried to add the days at DTD , MK, MGM, and ECOPT... so it wasn't for lack of trying. And we had 13 of us down there. It was different people in our group trying the same thing at different parks/times! We were in 3 - 4 groups and each group did it on there own with out letting the other know they were doing it till we all talked a few days latter! We had talked about trying to add days back but it was not a planned act! No luck! Hoping they change this! I still have several tickets with 1-3 days for my family, and would love to upgrade them . Also we were told that if we "traded" in the unused days on the 10 day MYW with everything... for PAP that the expriation date of the PAP would be from the FIRST day use of the MYW tickets. So if you got the 10 day ticket non expire plus and waited 360 days to "upgrade" the ticket then it would only be good for anothe 5 days. And if you tried to use the 10 day MYW non expire/plus a year or more after its first day use you could not upgrade to a PAP at all. That is different from the old 7 day tickets that had unused days left on them as I used a very old 7 day Park Hopper to get my first PAP.

Of course as in all things Disney it could change any time!

Thanks, all. I guess we will just enjoy our 5 days! Only four days until we leave, and I cannot hardly stand it!

What you were told is the policy for upgrading the ticket (applying the entire original purchase price of that ticket) to a PAP. That must be done within 14 days of first use whether you have purchased the non expiration option or not. When you upgrade to a PAP in that time frame, the expiration will be back dated to the first day that you used the original ticket.

After the 14th day, you cannot upgrade the ticket at all. The only thing you can do at that point is to apply the dollar value of the unused park admissions towards the purchase price of the PAP. But keep in mind that MYW tickets are front loaded in value. That means that the days that carry the highest dollar value are the ones you would use first, the lowest dollar value days are the days at the end. This is due to the MYW pricing system of only charging a few dollars to add extra days.

Under the pre-MYW system, you could get decent value on applying unused park admissions. For example, if you had a 4 day PH and paid $200, then you would get a $50 per day credit for unused admissions. But with MYW, your credit is figured backwards from the highest day of your ticket. So (example) if you had only the 10th day of a 10 day MYW base left, your credit would only be $2.00 plus tax. If you had days 9 & 10 left, you'd get $4 plus tax, etc. Your ticket would only carry any real value if you still had days 1-4 unused. Everything after day 4 sells for $4/day or less and that's all you'd get credit for.

HTH

We must have gotten lucky then with the PAP upgrade. 2 of the group did end up getting PAP's. And they got the entire price of the days left, as it is put on the Disney site. There were only 2-3 days left. So what ever the remaining days value was, which I think is $30+ a day they got, in one case. In the other case the CM let them apply the total cost of the orginal 10 day MYW non expire / park hopper- the orginal $300+ dollars. I thought that was strange, but was not willing to argue with the CM, as I did not know. So we hot a deal it looks like! I do remember the cost of upgrading to the PAP was under/around $200 so I very well might havre the dollars all mixed up, it has been almost a year! (And I had wine with dinner..... :rotfl: !)
