Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Friday is usually our day to pick up DGD from school and have pizza and grandparent hang out time that isn't rushed. If we pick her up on Mondays or Tuesdays we are always very mindful of getting her back home early enough for getting ready for school the next day.

I don't have to think about what's for dinner for the next 3 nights.

Being retired, I actually have enough energy to watch TV without falling asleep on Friday nights now. After getting up before 6 am and teaching all week my eyes would start to close around 7 pm!

Fridays
Well it used to be a quiet day at work but that seems to not exist anymore
I’m still hoping that comes back when we get the quiet Fridays again where everybody’s out of the office and nothing’s going on and it’s just a nice quiet easy workday

I used to love Friday night TV and then it was Friday night go rent movies on Friday nights are always usually like a pizza night or something it’s a no cook night usually and it’s always been payday remember virtual for years was doing the bills on Friday night and that chore was done for the weekend

It’s one of my favorite days of the week because it means the work week is done and you don’t have to think about it for two days it usually meant we all went out for lunch at work which was usually a little bit longer than an hour sometimes a little bit longer than two🤣🤣

And it’s the most popular day to take a day off work so you can extend your weekend and most of the time no new business starts on Friday so again it’s a good day!!

Peanut butter
So I had my dog at the emergency vet last year my dog is always been a pain to give medication to cause no matter what I do he spits it back out and we were at the emergency vet and they went to give him some medication and they got out a big old jar of peanut butter and they scooped out a big old hunk of peanut butter put the medication in it and he swallowed it right down no problem and I’m like what ?? no my dog takes a pill every morning so every morning I am fist fighting the dog to get him to take his medication 💊 and I seen this little trick and I was like oh my goodness do it again so she scooped out a big hunk of peanut butter and he swallows it right down and I was like why hasn’t somebody shown me this before 😍 I have been doing this trick every day since and it has worked beautifully no problems so every morning my dog gets a big scoop of peanut butter with a pill in the middle of it and he’s none the wiser he’s happy as a lark to get some peanut butter and I am happy that he takes his pill no problem
Very grateful for learning this trick and I’m very grateful that he loves peanut butter

I do not like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but I do like peanut butter sandwich sandwiches

I love peanut butter on toast or on a warm biscuit

Not a fan of peanut butter cookies even though I love peanut butter

Peanut butter fudge is one of my most favorite fudges no matter how you make it I’m pretty much like it

I pretty much like peanut butter and just about anything except peanut butter cookies don’t know why I just never cared for them

Afternoon all,

I can't stand peanut butter or peanuts in general, so I think I'll opt for 3 things I'm grateful for today instead. Full disclosure, I had a couple of bottles of wine with a friend last night and unfortunately even though I wasn't particularly drunk, I'm at an age now where hangovers are guaranteed no matter how much or little I drink. So trying to find things I'm grateful for when hungover is rather difficult! 😂

1. Fizzy drinks - a fizzy drink really helps me when I'm feeling a bit rough. I only buy the zero/no sugar versions which don't quite have the kick that full sugar does, but they're still really helpful as a pick me up.

2. Extra rest - I find it very difficult to do much when I'm feeling rough, so I end up having to write off everything I had planned for the day and putting my feet up to rest. I even managed a lie in today which never happens usually! The only downside is that all of the things I had planned today now need to be done tomorrow

3. Walking in the fresh air - I normally go out for walks first thing at a weekend before I get on with my day. Today of course that didn't happen as I wasn't feeling up to it, and for most of the morning I felt no different. Fortunately I perked up after lunch and managed to get out for a walk in what is a glorious day. Only managed 4.5 miles but it's more than I expected and has made me feel so much better. I hate hanging around at home all day doing nothing and not being able to exercise.

Happy Saturday, friends :)

Neither my Dad nor I like peanut butter. My beloved late Grandma loved it and I sure loved her so good memories regarding peanut butter there.

I just talked with my Dad which is always a blessing as God-willing seeing him will be at lunchtime.

My Dad's upcoming February birthday is always Something I give God extra thanks for.

Hey, @clappyclaps, sorry you are paying for last night's fun. We, too, had more fun than we'd planned on last night, although I feel pretty much OK today. It's weird; I seem to handle the aftereffects of alcohol better as I age- because believe me, last night involved large drinks, some shots, some wine... great night, but neither DH nor I felt the need to go out for pizza and beer for lunch today! Bring on the tea!!

Peanuts are deadly in this house and I wish they would disappear from Earth. They were a large part of my life growing up and now they terrify me. They are in EVERYTHING.

I am grateful for my mom, who turns 85 today, and my dad.
I am grateful for my DH and our kids.
I am grateful that I had wonderful in laws and we miss them terribly.
I am grateful that DH took me to WDW and the ocean on our honeymoon and expanded my world and has given me many experiences that I would not have had otheirwse.

DD19 is deathly allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, so until recently, I tried to limit what came into our house. So, I’m going to use some of that as an angle.

1. Sunbutter- DD19 never liked it but DD17 does and it gave us a safe option to have around the house that could be used in place of peanut butter.

2. Peanut butter powder- I keep it handy because it’s much lower calorie than regular peanut butter but can be added to so many things and give you the flavor and protein.

3. Mole- I don’t get it all the time but I sometimes enjoy mole when we go out for Mexican. It’s traditionally made with some peanut butter and is a nice alternative to all of the cheesy dishes.

Sounds like you had a fab night without paying for it afterwards, I'm so jealous!😊

It's Florida's turn for some love!

Today's Topic (Sun, 1/25) - 3 things you're grateful for about Florida

(Since we're on the DIS, I'm guessing most of us have been there, but if you haven't, please feel free do 3 things beginning with F.)

We moved to Florida when I was a little girl, back in 1954. I no longer live there, but it still holds a special place in my heart.
1. The beaches, especially Daytona.
2. Oranges
3. The Keys and Key West -- paradise on Earth
4. The cool breezes off the ocean on a warm day
5. The seafood -- grouper, red snapper, pompano

Good Snowy Sunday Morning ❄️☃️🥶

I love Florida and I can hardly wait to move there when we retire. We love the Melbourne/Cocoa Beach area. I have dreams of never seeing snow again, getting our WDW annual passes and going to WDW whenever we want to go out to dinner and see concerts at EPCOT. The only way we won’t do this is if our DD22 decides to live where we are now. She has no desire to, but if she gets a good well paying job here then she will.

#1 - HUMIDITY - Yes, you all read that right. I love the humidity because my dry, cracking and bleeding hands are nice and supple there. I also have developed very naturally wavy hair in my old years (I have to straighten it now) and I don’t have to do anything with my hair in Florida. The humidity makes it super wavy so I just let it air dry - so easy.

#2 - COCOA BEACH / SPACE COAST AREA - So many wonderful restaurants we’ve fallen in love with over the last 3 years and it’s fun to watch a launch from a few of these restaurants too.

#3 - THE WDW BUBBLE - I’m so grateful that we are blessed to go spend time in the WDW bubble as often as we do. We’ve had some trips where we didn’t go into any parks - we just went to Disney Springs, go out to dinner at a monorail resort and then walk around the resorts. Our next WDW trip is in June.
