I am not an early riser, I sleep in till 9:00am, mostly because I work in my shop after the family goes to bed and I am there till midnight or later. But on this day I was up with the birds. The kids complained that I should let them sleep cause they were on vacation. sorry! you can sleep in a week once our vacation is over.
The goal was to be out the door by 8:00am, for the most part we run early or on time, today it was 8:30 by the time we got to the bus stop, I didn't need to be at MGM for rope drop, I just didn't want to waste any time relaxing or somthing stupid like that. We were the first in line for the bus, I took that as a sign that todays lines were going to be short and sweet. Kent wasn't too sure about using Disney's transportation, he said he wanted to be on his own schedule and not have to wait for buses, I reminded him that "his own" schedule was the one I made for him and it worked well with Disney's FREE transportation, I love it when he smiles and says "yes dear."

Jim and I were most excited about TOT, so once we were in the park we made a mad dash to TOT. Reese wasn't going to go on this, she has issues with elevators, poor kid got stuck in one at a hotel in Philly.
sidenoteThis past winter Reese was dropped while doing a twist crade at cheerleading (accidents happen) and she had a bone contusion on the lateral part of the knee (outside part) and a sprained ankle, she was on crutches for 4 weeks and had to use the school elevator, the night before going back to her first day of school after the injury she was worried about the elevator and said "I'm not worried about getting upstairs, I'm just not sure how to get back down, I don't think the school has an elevator upstairs." picture the room going silent and everyone just staring at her like, "did that really just come out of your mouth?"

another side note Reese is fine now, she only has 1 1/2 weeks of physical therapy left, she's back to flying her stunts and is running track, tryouts are this week.
So, there was legitimate fear on this tiny girls shoulders and being the loving caring mother I am, I told her to suck it up, my sister Bo always says, "feel the fear and do it anyway." Reese reluctantly agreed to give it a try only if i assured her she wouldn't have to go again if she didn't like it.
I love the whole set up for this, the line itself is like a ride, a line ride granted, but a cool one. we didn't have to wait long, we were taken to the library immediatley, the lights went out and Reese grabbed onto me, "Mom, will they tell us when we are going to drop?" I felt bad at that moment, here she thought the ride had started and we would be standing for the plummet back down. Of course that feeling passed, if she had just watched the Disney special on the travel channel with me she would know that we sit for the ride. "You're such a dork Reese, this is still the line ride, not the ride ride."
I felt her relax a little. The CM's did a great job playing their parts, I wasn't the least bit nervous until a CM told me I should be. We board the elevator and Reese cinched her belt so tight I was afraid she would break in two. the doors closed, the lights go out and Reese starts to hyper ventilate, Jim always wanting to make light of situations like this stated loudly, I just cracked one. I said "someone teach that kid some manners." then muttered "I'm glad I don't have kids."

Pause here for another embarrasing pic of Jim (4th grade)

anyway, I didn't buy the ride picture, I know I was breaking a scrapbook rule, but honestly I felt like it was wrong to have a constant reminder of the day I nearly gave my child a heart attack.
We headed over to RnR next, we still weren't park savy and didn't know about fast pass enough to try it, but the stand by line was 20 minutes and we don't mind waiting, it gave us time to practice our people watching skills. Let me tell you there were some real winners in that line, I could do a whole separate Tr just on those people alone. I get a kick out of air guitarists, and Aerosmith brings the air guitarist out of most people, I have noticed over the years that people who really do play guitar do not pretend to play one when they hear music, my son is one of the non air guitar people, but he watches the fingering of those who do air it and trys to hear in his mind what they are really sounding like, he said "trust me mom, that aint Aerosmith they are playing." Kent was really enjoying himself, he loves when people who think they are all that and a can of pringles are clueless to the fact that we don't think you're funny or cool, that's not why we are laughing, Dude, we're dogging you. But the guy gave us a thumbs up so we gave him a double thumbs up.

I was ready for RnR, I climb into my limo seat, Kent next to me, kids behind me, we are all set for a fast ride to the concert. I sit back and relax, the light turns green and I am unexpectedly shot forward into the next dimension. I don't know why I didn't expect it, I watched the travel channel, I read about this ride in books, I was never told that this ride was going to press my stomache to my back and wrap my intestines in and around my spinal cord. I honestly thought we would go clickety clack up to the top of the hill, pause shortly, then be hurled down a steep hill at light speed. It took a few seconds after take off to get my breath back, then I just enjoyed the ride, I did like it, even though I hate the feeling of being shot out of a cannon.

the ride was over, Reese loved it, she loves rollercoasters in general, she just hates elevators. Kent said it made him queasy but he would go again. Jim was a little ticked that he had no time to cover his face. So, RnR was on our list of things to do again.
