three decades of waiting completely revamped with pics

:guilty: "Rise and shine and give God the glory glory, rise and shine and give God the glory glory." My mom always woke me and my sister with a song, I always appreciated it, my own kids... not so much, I got hit with a pillow. :confused3
I am not an early riser, I sleep in till 9:00am, mostly because I work in my shop after the family goes to bed and I am there till midnight or later. But on this day I was up with the birds. The kids complained that I should let them sleep cause they were on vacation. sorry! you can sleep in a week once our vacation is over.
The goal was to be out the door by 8:00am, for the most part we run early or on time, today it was 8:30 by the time we got to the bus stop, I didn't need to be at MGM for rope drop, I just didn't want to waste any time relaxing or somthing stupid like that. We were the first in line for the bus, I took that as a sign that todays lines were going to be short and sweet. Kent wasn't too sure about using Disney's transportation, he said he wanted to be on his own schedule and not have to wait for buses, I reminded him that "his own" schedule was the one I made for him and it worked well with Disney's FREE transportation, I love it when he smiles and says "yes dear." :cloud9: After about a 5 minute wait our bus came, it filled up quick while we were sitting there.
Jim and I were most excited about TOT, so once we were in the park we made a mad dash to TOT. Reese wasn't going to go on this, she has issues with elevators, poor kid got stuck in one at a hotel in Philly.

sidenoteThis past winter Reese was dropped while doing a twist crade at cheerleading (accidents happen) and she had a bone contusion on the lateral part of the knee (outside part) and a sprained ankle, she was on crutches for 4 weeks and had to use the school elevator, the night before going back to her first day of school after the injury she was worried about the elevator and said "I'm not worried about getting upstairs, I'm just not sure how to get back down, I don't think the school has an elevator upstairs." picture the room going silent and everyone just staring at her like, "did that really just come out of your mouth?" :sad2: I would love to say it was the pain medication inducing a blonde moment, but truth is, as much as I hate to admit it, she gets it from me. :guilty: then at school, she got stuck in the elevator and missed her bus home.
another side note Reese is fine now, she only has 1 1/2 weeks of physical therapy left, she's back to flying her stunts and is running track, tryouts are this week.

So, there was legitimate fear on this tiny girls shoulders and being the loving caring mother I am, I told her to suck it up, my sister Bo always says, "feel the fear and do it anyway." Reese reluctantly agreed to give it a try only if i assured her she wouldn't have to go again if she didn't like it.
I love the whole set up for this, the line itself is like a ride, a line ride granted, but a cool one. we didn't have to wait long, we were taken to the library immediatley, the lights went out and Reese grabbed onto me, "Mom, will they tell us when we are going to drop?" I felt bad at that moment, here she thought the ride had started and we would be standing for the plummet back down. Of course that feeling passed, if she had just watched the Disney special on the travel channel with me she would know that we sit for the ride. "You're such a dork Reese, this is still the line ride, not the ride ride."
I felt her relax a little. The CM's did a great job playing their parts, I wasn't the least bit nervous until a CM told me I should be. We board the elevator and Reese cinched her belt so tight I was afraid she would break in two. the doors closed, the lights go out and Reese starts to hyper ventilate, Jim always wanting to make light of situations like this stated loudly, I just cracked one. I said "someone teach that kid some manners." then muttered "I'm glad I don't have kids." :rolleyes1 that is my way of saying THEY AINT WITH ME! We made it to the top and the doors open, theres a quick oooo as we tried to look at the park from this height, actually it was more like ooooooaaaaaaahhh! cause they tease you, they make you think you have a minute to enjoy the view and just as your brain tells you that, they drop you into the abyss. At that moment Reese became possesed by a banchee, there is no way my little tiny Reeses pieces could produce a sound like that. They shot us up and down a couple times, Reese starts yelling, "I'm done, no more." When it came to an end and the lights came back on I looked at Reese, she was pale and shaky, I had to practically carry her off the ride. We stopped to look at our ride photo, I could have bawled seeing the look of sheer terror on her face, but then I laughed cause Jim had covered his face, I asked him if he was scared, he said no, he just refuses to have his picture taken at all on this vacation.

Pause here for another embarrasing pic of Jim (4th grade)

anyway, I didn't buy the ride picture, I know I was breaking a scrapbook rule, but honestly I felt like it was wrong to have a constant reminder of the day I nearly gave my child a heart attack.
We headed over to RnR next, we still weren't park savy and didn't know about fast pass enough to try it, but the stand by line was 20 minutes and we don't mind waiting, it gave us time to practice our people watching skills. Let me tell you there were some real winners in that line, I could do a whole separate Tr just on those people alone. I get a kick out of air guitarists, and Aerosmith brings the air guitarist out of most people, I have noticed over the years that people who really do play guitar do not pretend to play one when they hear music, my son is one of the non air guitar people, but he watches the fingering of those who do air it and trys to hear in his mind what they are really sounding like, he said "trust me mom, that aint Aerosmith they are playing." Kent was really enjoying himself, he loves when people who think they are all that and a can of pringles are clueless to the fact that we don't think you're funny or cool, that's not why we are laughing, Dude, we're dogging you. But the guy gave us a thumbs up so we gave him a double thumbs up. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I hope I didn't make us sound like we just pick at people, I love it when someone is having a good time, it's just the whole air guitar thing, it rots my socks. The Beast of an ex always thought he was "it" and would air guitar at parties, or do his Van Halen jumps as he called them, but moving forward here.
I was ready for RnR, I climb into my limo seat, Kent next to me, kids behind me, we are all set for a fast ride to the concert. I sit back and relax, the light turns green and I am unexpectedly shot forward into the next dimension. I don't know why I didn't expect it, I watched the travel channel, I read about this ride in books, I was never told that this ride was going to press my stomache to my back and wrap my intestines in and around my spinal cord. I honestly thought we would go clickety clack up to the top of the hill, pause shortly, then be hurled down a steep hill at light speed. It took a few seconds after take off to get my breath back, then I just enjoyed the ride, I did like it, even though I hate the feeling of being shot out of a cannon.
rock.jpg

the ride was over, Reese loved it, she loves rollercoasters in general, she just hates elevators. Kent said it made him queasy but he would go again. Jim was a little ticked that he had no time to cover his face. So, RnR was on our list of things to do again.

Personally I have never gotten the point of air guitar playing myself! I always think people look like dorks when they do it!

I too am terrified of elevators. I got stuck in one when I was 9.

Great TR so far!

Did the Beast also have the Van Halen pants to go with the jumps? I had a boyfriend who did. He thought he was really hot. :lmao:

Amen sista!

I imagine myself a little old lady barely able to see over the steering wheel. Jammin out to a little metallica!!!

You crack me up photo chick, no he didn't have the pants. I would have divorced him much sooner if he did.

I'm so glad I ran into your trip report! I have a love for WDW that only all of you guys on the DIS can understand and sometimes my man doesn't understand it at all so I know where you're coming from!

I'm like your daughter. I got stuck in an elevator at 2 yeard old, and it traumatized me. I never went back in them until I was 13 and I had to due to certain cercumstances. I am finally over my feer (It only took 13 years). Yes I was 15. Anyway, I went on Tower Of Terror at 10, by myself. And I honestly didn't care for it. But when my whole family and I rode in TDS I became in love with it, and when I rode it at MGM, I loved it even more! Keep up the great reports!

We on the DIS are a special breed. I truly beleive we will out live the non Disney lovers.
Thanks for reading Tinkgurl :)

Spacemountain I got stuck on an elevator when I was 13 and I loved it, my mom kept cracking these awful jokes that only I thought was funny. When they finally got the doors open, my mom said "Thanks you were a great audience, I'm here all week. Try the veal!" She made it a pleasant memory for me and I think that's why I like elevators. Maybe if Reese hadn't gotten stuck all alone on one it wouldn't have been so tramatic.

I just didn't want to waste any time relaxing or somthing stupid like that.

:rotfl: that`s exactly what I told my friends when I took them to Disneyland Paris last year and they wanted to have a nap:rotfl:

I can`t wait to go on the ToT, hope the Paris version will soon be opened:cloud9:

Totally forgot about your question: I am actually from Schwalbach, near Frankfurt/Main.

We weren't sure what to do next, we just walked around and watched a few street performers. We had ADR's for Sci-fi later in the day but thought we'd see if we could get in earlier. For some reason I could not find the place, then it just made an appearance, I had walked past it quite a few times and never saw it, Kent said if it were a snake it would have bit me, I said no, if it were a snake I'd have you pick it up with a rake and put it in the neighbors yard like we always do. :lmao: We have black snakes up the wazoo in these parts and they all live in our maple tree out front, sometimes they like to drop infront of me :scared1: Kent, my hero always saves me.

At Sci-fi they were able to seat us after a tiny 10 minute wait. From the moment I set foot in there I loved it, the whole concept is brilliant. Kent and the kids were on board with my exitement trip here, The kids have never been to a drive-in movie, all the ones around here have been closed for years. Our server was on the ball that day, extremely attentive, full of useless knowledge that only Jim and I could appreciate it, he was just an all around great guy. The kids and I all had the burgers and fries, Kent got the ribs, it took along time for our food to come, but we didn't mind, Jim couldn't get over how cheesey the movie reels were and thanked god he was born into the computer generated era.
Kent is a huge movie quoter, he comes up with some good ones at times, at family functions he's always asked to give the movie quote of the day, pure genius I tell ya. So all through our lunch he was quoting 50's movies, he even tried acting out the drive-in scene from Grease, this is the Kent I am use to, I love it when he just relaxes and is himself.
jam031.jpg

Here Kent is pulling the yawn and stretch technique to put his arm around me, he was showing Jim how to be "smooth"

sci.jpg

Our server took this pic for us, he tried to get Jim to move his hand from his face, but Jim refused, I finally told the guy that we didn't want Jim's picture anyway cause we didn't like him. I think he believed us.
Our food finally came out and the burger, I kid you not, was as big as my head, it was nuts, I could barely finish half, it was a great tasting burger too. Kents ribs were a little wierd, the server said they use coca cola in the sauce.

I have to go off topic a bit, I do not like coke, I have been a Pepsi fan since I can remember, in highschool I was voted "Leader of the Pepsi generation" I was also voted most likely to be visited by Aliens (and I was) but that's beside the point. I live on diet Pepsi, but I could not drink the diet coke, I tried, BLECH! and their water is putrid. So I had to drink regular coke for the whole week I was there and I blame my 5 pound weight gain on coke, not the desserts!

So after we finished eating it was time to step back out into the heat, for April I thought it was too hot! This park was small but I felt so lost and backwards the whole time we were there, so basically whatever we stumbled upon was what we rode. We happen to stumble on The Muppets 3-D, Jim didn't want to do this one, "I don't want to frolic witht the puppets in person, why would I want to see them on T.V?" Kent, the Ogre mind you, corrected Jim. "Dude, it's muppets, and they kick **s, I love these guys." I had to steady myself, Kent was defending somthing in Disney, he had a smile on his face, he was Mr. Happy McHApperson.: I love that personality :cloud9:

We went in and had a blast, I was sitting next to the cutest little boy who kept talking to the screen and reaching his hand out to grab what wasn't really there. I think Jim enjoyed it as well. When it was over we spent some time in the gift shop. Animal and Fozzy were always my favorites, and I wanted to get somthing with their pics on it but changed my mind, now I wish I didn't.
We exited the shop and just went where the wind took us. (wind would have been nice) we stopped to look at our map and somthing wet hit my leg, I look down it's water, I look up there's no clouds, hmm, puzzling, then it happens again, what the crap? is it bird pee? it happens again then I see a CM with a squirt bottle, ok, I am not crazy. As we were walking away the CM shot Reese with water, Reese ran and stood infront of her, "more please" So the CM obliged her and shot her square in the face. I'm thinkin how cool is that job. How do you explain your occupation to people. "Yeah, I am incharge of simulated rain effects at MGM studios, I'm lisenced to carry an h2o projectile apparatus and trained to opperate it at seconds notice."
On our walk we found Star Tours, I like star wars, but the beast of an ex is a fanatic, so i tend to judge star wars poorly because of my own personal feelings, for 4 years and 8 months I had star wars shoved down my throat. The kids say he spends all his time on e-bay hunting down figures he wants or needs, and I just know he has them set up in battle scenes all over his room. Anyway, I was up for the ride, my hatred for the beast and anything concerning him was not going to interfere with my good time, I also thought he would eat his heart out to know that I was experiencing star wars while all he could do was play with his toys.
Kent was doing his movie quote thing at all the appropriate times. "close the blast doors." "I'm not looking for a friend, I'm looking for a Jedi Master." "let the wookie win" and "Help me Obi-wan-conobi, you're my only hope." the ride made me so queasy, I couldn't watch the screen, that doesn't happen to me all that much, I just closed my eyes and wished it to be over. As soon as we stopped moving I was fine. Of course riding this did somthing to Kent and Jim and for the rest of the day they did that backwards speaking thing that yoda does. "thirsty I am, to get a drink I am going." I wanted to do the pictures where they super impose your face into a character, Kent said "Too much money it is, empty my wallet it will." :yoda: He still paid for it, at first I was the only one doing it, then last minute Reese wanted in on it, which I always welcome children participation, but she made me be the Blue Jedi with what looks like a butt for a head, but for the sake of the scrapbook I did it anyway.

Check out my abs,

We looked around the store a bit more, when we came out the street was packed so we headed back the way we came, I think it was the way we came. We came up on HISTK lot, Reese and I went in for some photo opps, Jim said he preferred to skip the line ride. I like cute things like this, they are a scrapbookers dream.
ant.jpg

After that we came across the street where the characters hang, I wanted to get my picture with Mickey, the kids were so anxious to ride RnR again that they refused to wait with me. My feelings were hurt by this, I thought they could chill out a bit and just humor me, I gave them the this is my vacation too speach, it fell on deaf ears, so I told them to go and do what ever, call me when they were done, Kent and I went and got a frozen lemonade and watched people, I was in a sour mood, Kent did his best to remedy the situation, he even offered to go back to take my picture with Mickey, but I was being a brat and declined the offer, I figured I catch Mickey at MK later in the week or at the other parks, Plus I would put a little guilt on them about ruining the moment for me.
The kids called us an hour later, they were tired and wanted to go back to the resort, my feet we a nasty blistery mess, so I said let's meet at the gate and we'll go out to the bus together.

The blue jedi is Aayla Secura. My DS is a Star Wars Fanatic and I frequently play Battlefront 2 with him on the 360. She is my favorite Jedi to play. She has 2 lightsabers and kicks butt.

At lest you only had to endure Yoda speak that day. MY 4 year old does it all the time!

Still no Mickey? Did you at least catch a glimps of him this time?

Well at least I have a name to go with the picture now, and I no longer have to say the blue Jedi with the butt looking head. The yoda talk was all in good fun but there is no way I could live with it daily, God bless you.

Still no Mickey, nope not even a glimps. :sad2:

Great TR love the slipers story. I have worn my to Walmart by mistake. They are just so darn comfy. Can't wait to read more :surfweb:

We all met at the sorcerers hat and Jim said he wanted to go on ToT again before we left, so we all headed over. Reese did not want to ride, Kent said he would sit with her, I know she's old enough to sit by herself and wait, but I am over protective of her in some ways, she has a death allergy to bee stings, we have a few precious minutes to get her her epi-pen, I am always afraid she will pass out before she's able to give it to herself, for that reason I don't let her stay alone. But looking back I never saw a single bee, I don't think Disney has any. :confused3

So Jim and I just walk on to ToT, it was fun just the two of us cracking jokes, it seems like the shorter the line the longer the ride, cause they bounced us up and down quite alot. We rode it 3 times and were headed back for a 4th but... there was a line out the door. What the? where did they come from? we decided to hit up a few stores and then head back to Pop, we went into a candy store and I picked up some little tins with different characters on them , they had tiny sweet candies in them, Reese got these for her friends back home and I picked up a few for my family in Mi.

By then we were tired and hungry, so we slowly headed towards the bus stop. At Pop we stopped to eat before even going up to our room. I got some kind of pasta thing, kent got a burger and the kids got pizza, we also bought the refillable mugs (an investment) the food was yucky, bland with a rubber texture, even the dessert was blech! We said we would never waste anothe CS there again. On the way to the room the kids wanted to stay at the arcade, Kent continued on and I stayed to play a few games
jam046.jpg

I am pretty good at this game, check out Jim, he was so unaware of the camera, he even has his mouth hanging open. I was about to leave when I spoted the photo booth and being the scrapbooker I am I just had to drag the kids into with me.
booth.jpg

Good times!
I then headed up to the room and just kicked off my shoes and passed out onto the bed, the AC was set to artic and it felt good, I had just started to doze off when the kids came in. Jim wanted to go back to MGM for EMH, I wanted to as well but when I stood up my feet said, "Cha!, you need to get off me now!" Reese wanted to stay and swim and that sounded like a fantabulous good morning idea. So the boys took off to MGM and us girls stayed behind to swim (pictures were taken of the whole swimming event, but I think I misplaced that roll of film :rolleyes1 )
The guys came back around 11:30pm, Reese and I were already showered and dressed in our pj's. Jim was so excited to tell me about the park after dark, I found myself wishing I had gone back, even the Ogre said he had a great time. We were all in bed by 12:30 I was sleeping before I even closed my eyes. I had a dream I saw Mickey, that was the closest I got to him that day.

next installment...Grumpy McGrumperson takes on epcot

Hey, what's up with the faceless child??? I have to say she's a little creepy!!!
