three decades of waiting completely revamped with pics

Hey everyone,
I was so going to post the next installment today, but my DS school called, he was in the nurses office for sampling a bit of his science study, he thought it was salt, but it was really copper sulfate and aluminum sulfate mixed. So I spent a few hours in the ER with him while he had to drink 48 ounces of water and be observed. He is fine, just a little bloated now. Seriously, what 15 year old still puts things in their mouth? Isn't it a given that you don't eat things in science class that you're supposed to be looking at under the microscope? So anyway, I will try and post the next installment tomorrow. In the mean time does anyone have any stories to share about an incident like this. I hope I am not the only one that has a kid who feels he has to taste his science projects.

You already know I'm a teacher of 8th graders, so though I have no children of my own, I personally have seen them attempt all sorts of things. In fact, I refuse to carry or have them bring in regular glue. They can only use the stick type. The things they manage to do with glue alone can be quite gross. When it comes to teens and school, nothing really surprises me anymore. I'm glad your son turned out okay, though. Must have been a bit scary.

:guilty: "Rise and shine and give God the glory glory, rise and shine and give God the glory glory." My mom always woke me and my sister with a song, I always appreciated it, my own kids... not so much, I got hit with a pillow. :confused3

I thought I was the only one! My dad always woke us up by singing that at the top of his lungs as he very nicely snapped the shade over the window so it would fly up into the air and make that nice snapping sound. Ah, window shades! Glad to know I wasn't the only one. Anytime I hear the song now, it always brings back such fond memories. :)

They shot us up and down a couple times, Reese starts yelling, "I'm done, no more." When it came to an end and the lights came back on I looked at Reese, she was pale and shaky, I had to practically carry her off the ride. We stopped to look at our ride photo, I could have bawled seeing the look of sheer terror on her face, but then I laughed cause Jim had covered his face, I asked him if he was scared, he said no, he just refuses to have his picture taken at all on this vacation.

Oh, that's too good! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You really had me laughing with that one. My DH looked up at me, with this startled look on his face, wondering what the heck is making me laugh like that. Of course, I had to share and he thought it was funny, too! Your report is awesome! I'm really enjoying it, Ty.

Hi ILMICKEY and SpaceMountain,
I guess I should have said why I took Reese to the ER, She was doing a back handspring and hyper extended her wrist, it was swollen and purple, so I thought it should be looked at, she is in a splint now, but we were assured she would be ready for her cheer comp on the 25th this month. Should I trust the DR's there? Back in Jan they said her knee was just a sprain and sent her home, a follow up with our family Dr. and an MRI showed it was a bone contusion and they couldn't rule out a fracture. I am sure she is fine, but I will folow up with our Dr. anyway. Thankyou for your concern. Kent is away getting another certification for his business, I feel most alone when my kids are hurt and he's not here. It's nice to have friends on the Dis.

I know that many doctors do their best, but it's horrible when you get a dopey one. I remember one time when I went in with a clearly broken or sprained wrist and a nurse, wanting to do something or other to my arm, roughly grabs me by the hurt wrist! Oh, my dad (I was a teen at the time) went completely ballistic on her.

Hang in there. You know we're here for you. Tell Reese that I hope she's feeling better.

After my long week of state testing and parent-teacher conferences, I have been trying to catch up on these boards and finally got all caught up with yours. You're doing such a terrific job. Keeping me laughing, as usual. Keep it up.

Loving it and anxiously awaiting more!!!popcorn:: Great sense of humor and pics.
Lesley

I hope Reese is feeling better. My 7 year old niece is starting all of these cheerleading competitions and is already starting to get little nagging injuries. We have a friends daughter that had a head injury during her sophomore year and she decided to switch to poms. Make sure she rests the body before getting back into the swing of things again. Take your time with the TR, as entertaining as it is----family first.

Just stumbled on your TR...great job! You have me dying laughing!! The red button is just too funny...

Hope Reese is feeling better!!

Hey!!

 Hi Reese! Glad you're doing better. Thanks to your mom, we feel like we know you already! Can't wait to hear your version of the trip. :goodvibes

I just saw your daughter's trip report. She is doing a good job. So I know she doesn't get her writing skills from the "evil parent." Ha Ha.

I was exhausted this day, I could not wake up and because of that we didn't make it out the door until almost 10:00am. I was looking forward to Epcot, like I had said earlier in this TR, I had been to Epcot once whenI was 16, I knew there were some changes, like they no longer had Michael Jackson as the 3-D movie event. I was super excited to see the change.

we made it through bag search with no problems, but at the finger scan is where things got a little bleh. Kent had had enough, and was vocalizing to who ever would listen about the whole "Big Brother trying to control me conspiracy theory." I don't want you to think that Kent does not love or appreciate this great country, he loves what America allows us, we have freedoms that other countries can only dream about, and he knows that because this country was founded on freedom and rights he is able to voice his opinion with out the threat of death, but he is angry that alot of our freedoms and rights are being threatened now under the guise of "protection"
He is against alot of things now and feels lied to. He says that finger scans and cashless societies are just some of the things that are pushing us towards a new world order. I can see where he is coming from, but c'mon dude, this is Disney, let it go for a day.

The first ride we went on was spaceship earth, it was nice, cool and relaxing, we all enjoyed that. I was expecting a huge lecture from Kent when it was over, but he surprised us all and kept quiet. We then went into innoventions, Jim played the game "think-a-ma-jig" He won both times he played, I could say yeah, he's a genius, but really, how does the kid know what kind of ship to build and what he needs to make it faster, bettter? and to collect all those jewels, to me it's useless knowledge, and obviously he is full of that.
We played around and sent postcards via internet to those at home, even though we didn't have a computer at that time I knew to get friends e-mail addresses. After a bit Kent who had transformed into Mr. Grumpy McGrumperson by then, anounced he couldn't stand the B.S. and would wait outside. normally, me being the peace keeper would have followed him out, but I honestly thought he was being stupid, there is not a conspiracy behind every bush dear, realize that and we'll all be happier. The kids and I hung out longer than I normally would have, I even walked slower than ususal just to make him sit in the heat longer. HA! Outside Kent pointed up to the sign that said road to tomorrow and said they spelled tomorrow wrong, I looked and didn't see it, it looked right to me, then he said it should be spelled T-Y-R-A-N-N_Y, cause they really mean "the road to Tyranny" By now I am getting angry, I was so angry I could have spit a banchee. I am speaking to him through clenched teeth, "Just take it for what it is and stop trying to preach the end of the world to me. I am at freakin Disney, I don't care if I am being programmed to follow the crowd and not ask questions, I don't care if they scan my fingers, they can scan my *ss if they want to, this is my dream to be here, when we get home you can go back to your soap box on the corner and listen to your "leader" Alex Jones, but I didn't pay for him to come on this trip so leave him out of it, and word to the wise... If Mr. Jones offers you Koolaid at his next convention...Don't drink it." I stormed away muttering under my breath, "don't tell me Disney is a cult." Kent looked hurt, I didn't mean to hurt him, but I listen to him all the time, I even watch the videos that he orders. All I want is a trip that doesn't include nonsense. We can't even watch a movie with out hearing him complain about us being "conditioned" so needless to say, it was not a good morning.
We walked in silence to HISTA,
jam042.jpg

(See his T-shirt? that is my handydandy silkscreen work, and KTB concrete is Kents business, KTB stands for Kents The Boss.)
Grumpy stayed with us for quite some time, the 15 minute kodak commercial before HISTA didn't help matters much either, he kept mumbling, money racket under his breath. I never refuse a good argument. "What about Nascar dear?, they have their sponsor painted on their car, and all the commercials are from their sponsors, why is that not called a money racket?
His answer, That's different. Looking back I kind of understand where he was coming from, is it really necessary to have a commercial before a ride?
Anyway, on to happier moments, we went in and took our seats, By then Kent and I were much calmer, and we were able to agree to disagree, he won't bash Disney and I won't call him an idiot. I loved the show, I ended up sitting on my feet for most of it, I knew it was an illusion but they had me convinced that mice were chewing at my shoe laces.
we weren't sure what to do when we came out we just hung around and took pictures of the water sculptures, then bam, Reese got nailed with a jet of water
jam041.jpg

I knew it was coming, I had seen enough people on Americas funniest home videos get hit with that, so I told her to stand there for a surprise, I don't know what she was expecting but it certainly wasn't that.
We then went to mission space, I had read the stories, the in-laws warned me not to ride, but I thought if I'm gonna die, Disney is a great place to meet God. There was no line, we walked right on. I was nervous about the barf bags being included on the ride, I practiced grabbing one, yes, I can reach it Phew! The ride started and all I could do was stomp my feet, i loved it but it was also painful on my guts, Jim came out of his shell on this ride, he was laughing, screaming and pushing buttons, it was great seeing him that way, I wish I could fully describe it to you, and the funny thing is... I'm pretty sure that is how he would behave if he were really being launched into space.
I had a blast on that ride, I can't wait to go again. We spent alot of time playing around and sending virtual postcards to all our friends again, there favorite was when we acted like we were getting sick in space. Kent, who had gone out for a cigarette came running in to get me, "Mickey and Goofy are outside in space suits." I took off at light speed, I should have taken off at ludicrous speed cause when I got there, they were gone. :sad2:
We had fast passes for Test Track, we still waited 20 minutes to ride, I always worry before getting on rides, will we be safe, I do my intitial prayer upon entering the park, then my individual ride prayer accordingly, I prayed for God to spare our lives on MS, I know we are not to tempt God, does going on a ride even though it's been known to kill constitute tempting God? The family knows that my whispering as I buckle into any ride is me praying, "Lord, even though we are going to be hurling around this track at nascar speed and no helmets, please keep us safe, and please please, don't let a bee fly into Reeses face and if one does, then please hold onto me as I crawl out of my seat and into the back seat next to her to administer her shot." I feel no reason to be vague in my prayers.
I never feel dumb about my prayers even if the ride does turn out to be not so dangerous, and when we choose to ride again, I say "dear God, ditto" He knows what I mean. :)
by then it was close to our ADR time at Coral Reef, I was really looking forward to this one, we are seafood lovers. Outside of CR are lots of photo opps and we took advantage of them, but since Reese decided to be "funny" and act like she was picking her nose in most of them I have been instructed not to post them. We didn't have to wait long to be seated, we were in a booth on the first level by the tanks.
jam034.jpg

I was wishing I had brought my good camera that can capture anything in any kind of lighting, but I am always afraid to bring it on rides, so I bring my so so camera and end up with so so pictures.
Our server was great, he talked with Jim about music, Jim loved that since music is his life. We ordered, Reese and I got chicken, kent and Jim got steak, I was expecting more of a seafood choice but there wasn't much of one. Our food was good, very good really, I wish I could have finished it all, but there was still dessert to be had. I had the chocolate wave, and it is on my list of things I have to eat again before I die. That meal was most expensive, it alone made up for one persons DDP for the week, by that time anyway the DDP had paid for itself plus some, it is worth the money, can I get an Amen here?
After we ate we went to look at the aquariums and see if we could get into turtle Talk with crush, it was over packed so we didn't do that, we just had fun walking around looking at the fish, Reese spent a long time watching the dolphins. I had fun with all the photo opps from finding nemo.

jam010.jpg

I was getting so tired by then and there was still so much more to see and do, but my feet were being held on by band-aids (I should have worn my slippers) everyone was just so tired so we decided to head back to Pop for a dip in the pool.
on the bus I was feeling so guilty for not sticking to the itinerary, we hadn't even seen world showcase, I said this to Kent, he said he didn't care, but I really wanted the kids to get a small taste of what Germany is like, I miss Germany, and If I were rich instead of beautiful I would take my kids for a visit, but in the mean time world showcase was going to have to suffice, and we didn't make it there. I was rearranging the schedule in my head to find a time when we could go back.
As we got off the bus it dawned on me, that was our third park and I have yet to see Mickey.

I am so sad that you had a not so happy morning at Epcot. I certainly hope it got better for you. How did Reese take getting a shot of water? That was some pretty funny stuff!! I hope you got some pictures of Jim without his face covered for your scrapbook. Can't wait for more!!

I am at freakin Disney, I don't care if I am being programmed to follow the crowd and not ask questions, I don't care if they scan my fingers, they can scan my *ss if they want to...

Ya know, I probably have said the same thing including the part about scanning my "posterior".

hi mommy! thanx for spillin all the secrets hehe loved the TR cant wait to give my version of it ( o yes! ) thanx to everybody who posted the well wishes for Reese (thats me) on mommmy's thread mom u need to put more embarrising pics of jimmy on there! :lmao:

Oh Reese, I haven't even started to spill secrets, you know me, I am the family bean spiller. muahaha!
Be nice to me in your TR, remember I am the one that takes you to the mall!

Lan Happy to have you reading along. Yeah, Reeses skills for writing come from my side of the family:)

ILMICKEY The day did get better, we were all tired and on edge at Epcot. Reese didn't mind getting a blast of water to the face, she's all about having fun, I did get a few pics of Jim for the scrapbook.

Tasmen yup, some of us will do anything for disney, even scan our fannys. (although I hope it never comes to that)

Back at Pop we decided to just relax by the pool, Kent went and filled all of our mugs for us then met us at the pin pool. The kids were playing pool games, like who can hold their breath the longest or do the longest hand stand. Jim got cold and wanted to go change, so he left to go to the room.

Reese was bored and wanted Kent and I to swim with her, we tried to play some pool games, but we got so bored with them. Reese decided it would be cool to practice her liberty and twist from a full extension, I am AACCA certified as a cheerleading coach so I showed Kent what to do and the two of us worked with Reese for an hour, it was a little hard to do without a back spot but once she got up there she hit her motion and it was gorgeous, catching was a little hard to do in the pool as it's hard to absorb her weight coming down and keep her from hitting the water too hard, but all in all, it was fun and Reese got her Liberty, but most important, Kent was laughing and having a good time. He is such a good Dad, how many Dads do you know would help his daughter with cheerleading stunts? He goes to all of her games and competitions. When Jim was in sports he was at all of his games as well. I feel like I painted him in an ill light in my last installment, he isn't a hard person to get along with, we just don't share alot of the same political views. But I love this man, he has been there for me and the kids through the darkest times and was always strong. He is the only "real" Dad my kids have ever known. They don't even refer to my ex as their Dad, he has let them down time and time again and it is always Kent who is there to pick up the pieces.
We finally headed up to our room. I don't know what it is that makes me so incredibly hungry after swimming, but I was starved, I know I said we would never eat at the Pop food court again, but none of us were up to going anywhere else, so we went to that yucky place again, this time I just got nachos and the kids and Kent got hotdogs, it wasn't too bad this time around, I felt guilty that it was only 6:00pm, we had been at the resort since 3 and I was too tired to go back out and do anything else.
We finished eating and the kids took off to the arcade, Kent and I were looking around the gift shop when a lady came in with her daughter, she kept asking when they would get to see Mickey (she had the most darling English accent) her mom told her as soon as "Datee" finishes checking in." the little girl started to say somthing and then fainted, all the CM's came running with water and wet cloths, her mom said "really, she is O.K. she's just so excited to be here she fainted dead away, it's the second time this day she has fainted." The little girl sat up smiling and looking drunk, "I don't think I can wait a second more." she was so dear, I can but can't imagine the excitement she felt, it was unbelievable to see it, and one of my favorite Disney stories to tell. When people don't believe the magic that takes over your body, I tell them about the little English girl. I think about her often and hope that her vacation was everything she had imagined it to be.
I shopped around a bit more, they had scrapbook stuff and even though I knew I would be going to "Wonderful World of Memories" at DTD later in the week, I still broke down and bought a bunch, then at the register The Cm told me I could get a tote for $10 more, so i got the tote. I carry that thing everywhere.
I went back to the room and showed Kent my treasure, he did a really good job of trying to act impressed, I was already putting pages together in my mind. The kids came back to the room around 10:30pm, we played a few games of cards, Reeses favorite is B.S and Jim likes sets and runs, it was just good quality time. We hit the hay around midnight, THe next day was to be Animal Kingdom, I set the clock for 6:30am, Kent and Jim said not to wake them, they weren't going, I didn't argue. I wanted my day at AK to be perfect, I still hadn't seen Mickey yet, I was thinking my chances of meeting him were better if I let the guys stay behind.

Tune in next time to see if Reese and Ty make it to Ak for rope drop. And does TY get to meet the big cheese, and what about Reese? Does she win at any of the games in DinoLand? What will Ty do when she realizes the lizard she finds in the shower is actually her long lost pet who ran way years before when Ty accidentally pulled it's tail off, will the lizard remember her and even forgive her?

Another great one. Down time can be so wonderful, and sometimes more memorable than the parks. My eyes totally got teared up when you talked about the little english girl. How sweet. We have a lot in common when it comes to the ex and the one that is more like the dad. My husband would do anything for my sons. He deserves them more. My ex MAKES them go every other weekend, even when they don't want to. There was a year and a half he wouldn't even take them, but they can't say no. Bunch of you know what!!! He is going to be really mad this year. It is his Thanksgiving. But little does he know we are leaving Wednesday night for our vacation. :rotfl2: Happy Thanksgiving Daddy!!!

I said it before and I'll say it again! I love reading your trip reports! They make me feel like I was back there, and the Magic comes alive in them for me. (Yeah, read my Tokyo Disneyland TR to understand), and I'm hjappy you enjoyed it so far! I went down to Florida to stay with my Uncle CheshireFigment in January and went to the World, and I missed out on the resorts,a nd I always felt that the Resorts were kind of special! Also, when EMH came around, we just walked around, but didn't ride (Because we couldn't).
